Gentle Yogi invites you to join in this wonderful yoga holiday in the beautiful Tuscany! The week offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in a gentle yoga retreat while exploring the sights and flavors of Tuscany. You will experience the joy to share the experience of this fabled region, a crossroads of medieval history, the cradle of the Renaissance, land of soulful, artful living. You will enjoy a magical week of loving yourself and loving life with twice daily yoga, stunning scenery, pure fun, gracious hospitality, belly laughing, great food, and well-organized adventures.
During this holiday, you will stay either in a shared or a private room. Il Borghino is a secluded hilltop retreat center with magnificent views specially designed to maintain the original character of a small village while still being both comfortable and modern. Il Borghino has been meticulously restored with energy efficiency and a concern for the environment in mind by using natural materials such as wood, marble, and terracotta.
The rooms are large, simple, and finely well-furnished with fabulous views from every window. You may also take advantage of the wonderful heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi and relax in the area around it. The communal area has a fitness center with a gym and a Turkish bath, as well as a large room with a fireplace, a barbecue, and a kitchen which can be used for special occasions.
The heated outdoor swimming pool does not use chlorine, opting for the more natural saltwater, like seawater. The drinking water comes directly from a spring and the toilets operate on two level capacities to save water and the majority of lighting is with energy savings in mind. All of the house cleaning products and personal cleansing soaps and shampoos are all natural and locally produced with a fresh fragrance.
During this retreat, you will greet each day with a smooth and soothing gentle yoga session with Rudy. After a delicious and healthy breakfast, you will spend some of your days relaxing under the Tuscan sun by the pool or enjoy a guided hike followed by a picnic.
You will also have the opportunity to experience activities like a bike and walking tour near the charming Lucca and an all-day excursion to the sensational Cinque Terre (the five lands) with vividly colored villages located on cliffs overlooking the Ligurian Sea.
Other activities during this holiday, will include two MELT classes to introduce the foot and hand treatments of this cutting edge self-care technique and an outing into Lucca for an evening of Puccini. The afternoons will often be for free time followed by an afternoon gentle yoga session with Rudy and then a fabulously fresh Tuscan cuisine for dinner.
Rudy leads the practice of gentle yoga in the Kripalu yoga style. He emphasizes attuning to your inner experience. You will begin with body awareness, closely linked to the next subtler level, and breath awareness. Through awareness of physical sensation and the quality of breath, you can practice gentle yoga with little risk of injury or strain.
Rudy will help you to explore moving in and out of postures at gradually deeper increments so that you can discover and move within your pain-free range of motion. He will always remind you that you are free to release any pose at any time.
This fascinating self-treatment, reduces chronic stiffness and pain, inflammation, increases your energy levels, and improves your mood and ability to focus. This is truly the perfect companion to the yoga practices.
This retreat will be held at Il Borghino villa in Tuscany, Italy. Nestled among the Tuscan hills, close to the enchanting city of Lucca, time moves slower there. An afternoon can easily be lost drifting through the olive groves or snoozing by the pool. The natural surroundings and secluded setting create an atmosphere of calm and stillness, ideal for a relaxing yoga holiday. Its convenient location also allows for an easy travel to some of Italy's most picturesque historic towns like Lucca and the villages of the Cinque Terre.
The villa itself sits high on a hillside overlooking a panorama of olive groves, fruit trees, and vineyards. Cradled between olive groves and vineyards and only five kilometers away from Lucca, lies the magnificent villa complex with magnificent views.
Lucca is a small city with a rich history that is magically preserved and where traces of the Roman city, the medieval city, the renaissance city, and the 19th century city, can still be found.
A walk through the center of Lucca becomes an exciting voyage through the centuries and through history. Apart from the significant monuments, such as the sixteenth-seventeenth century walls, Lucca stands out for its atmosphere and lively center.
