Gaia Yogashala uses self-contained bungalows and service resorts for their accommodations. They are of close proximity to the training center and about 30m or so from the beach. For the self-contained resorts some have kitchens and some don't. Bookings are depending on which is available at time of inquiry. Rooms will be held until a certain period of time while waiting for the deposit. You will be advised accordingly at time of inquiry.

Gaia Alignment Yoga & Yoga Therapy Teacher Training represents a comprehensive presentation of yoga as therapy, and as a vehicle to promote health and a discipline providing genuine well-being. Since the program is an alignment-based training inspired by yoga therapy, the information is much more in-depth than a normal yoga training course. You will learn about physical anatomy in detail, including sessions with a Therapeutic Touch practitioner, the correct postures for each asana, how different body types need different adjustments, and much more. The aim of the program is to teach you the deeper principles behind body structure, so you can integrate this knowledge. And so you can come from a place of adjusting with the how and why, instead of just rote learning.

This month course will build a really strong foundation for aspiring Yoga Teachers, and even for Yoga Teachers looking to further their education. Inspired by Iyengar Yoga, the Alignment Yoga Teacher Training Course will focus on the proper structural alignment of the body while in asana. In this training program, you will learn a step-by-step methodology for teaching group and individual yoga sessions. This allows you to begin your practice confidently with an extensive toolbox of yoga methods, approaches, and techniques along with the ability to evaluate individual needs and adapt yoga practices accordingly. You will learn the underlying principles of asanas as the foundation for the spiritual and energetic layers of yoga. As part of the transformational nature of the program, Gaia has tried to make it rich with spirituality as it pertains to todays day and age, instead of more esoteric yogic practices.

The course is taught by a team of teachers with over 25 years of combined experience, both in teaching group classes as well as working with clients one-on-one. The curriculum is comprehensive and updated for modern times it also includes the practical application of the theory and philosophy of Classical Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Traditional Meditation, Reiki-based Energy Practices, Massage Training (including Therapeutic Touch), the power of Sound, Music & Mantra.

    Tal has dedicated herself to the practice, study and teaching of Yoga since discovering its benefits in 2001. Tal encourages her students to attune themselves to the current requirements of their bodies so that they establish a balanced, healthy yoga practice, as well as acquire and master their own optimal body posture. An avid Yoga therapy practitioner, Tal emphasizes alignment, core and lower back muscles work.

    Ajay's work combines law of attraction techniques, active meditation, creative visualization, gratitude, music, somatic movement and the awesome power of the breath to facilitate meaningful breakthroughs for people from all walks of life. His work (play) centers on releasing the old, dropping non-serving behaviors and thought patterns, and a movement into authentic power.

  • Arnaud Chartier

    Arnaud's classes and teachings combine different styles and techniques, including Iyengar yoga, mindfulness meditation and energetic and therapeutic yoga. He emphasizes mindfulness as a foundation to activate the self healing mechanism of the body and mind through yoga. Arnaud is also a gardener. For him yoga is for a way to connect deeply with nature and support Her to heal outside but as well inside of the body. This is another aspect of creating a bridge between the inside and the outside, an idea he incorporates in most of his teachings.

Located in the Gulf of Thailand and part of a group of 40 islands that make up the Samui Archipelago, Koh Phangan is commonly referred to by visitors and long-term inhabitants as "Magical" or "Paradise Island". It is not uncommon for travelers who intend to stay a week or two to extend their visit for months and even years at a time. The island is fashioned from granite of age old indigenous formations, and is said to be sitting on an ancient bed of crystals. Many a visitor feels this energy, and says it amplifies their meditation, yoga and healing experiences.

GaiaYogashala is nested on Bovy Beach in Baan Sri Thanu, at the beautiful west side of the island. The village is a yogi town, with a smattering of yoga schools, veggie and vegan restaurants and a variety of engaging activities and workshops. The shala is located 100 meters off the coast, and you can witness stunning sunset after stunning sunset every evening. They never get old.

During the training, you will be served light breakfasts (fruits and tea) and vegan meals for lunch for 6 days a week.

Arrival by airplane

The nearest airport is Koh Samui (USM). There are frequent flights from Bangkok (BKK) and Phuket and daily flights from Pattaya (U-Tapao), Singapore, to Koh Samui. Transportation to the ferry pier is easy to find at the airport. Ferries depart several times daily with the last one at around 17:30. The next closest airport on the mainland is Surathani (URT) where you may find low-cost operators (AirAsia and Thai Airways). From here, you would need a Bus & Boat ticket to arrive at Koh Phangan. This would take several hours.

Arrival by bus

The least expensive way to travel is to take one of the overnight buses. The bus leaves Khaosan Road at 18:00 and arrives at Surathani the following morning. From here, you can arrive at Koh Phangan's shores by boat. The bus and boat combo ticket may be arranged by travel agencies on Khaosan Road and costs about 700 - 900 THB all the way to Koh Phangan.

Arrival by train

Taking an overnight train with a proper bed from Bangkok is yet another conducive way to get Koh Phangan. Trains arrive at Surathani early in the morning. From here, you would need a Bus & Boat ticket to arrive at Koh Phangan. This would take several hours. Train tickets from Surathani back to Bangkok should be reserved in advance, particularly during high season.
