Elysiana Waterfall (or Cascada Elysiana) is an eco-lodge and retreat center in the lush jungle near Dominical, Costa Rica. It offers a wonderfully introspective, remote, and natural experience. Cascada Elysiana eco-lodge is a 28-acre (11 hectares) Finca, located in the valley of San Juan de Dios. On the property, they have hiking trails, rivers, swimming holes, and a 58-meter waterfall.

The healing energy of the land and waterfall, paired with their comfortable yet naturally-built accommodations create a profound immersive experience for those who stay with them. During this course, you can choose to sleep in a dorm, a glamping tent, or a cabin.



Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

Full Circle Yoga School teaches in the traditional yogic methodology, which views yoga as a lifestyle, a science, and an art. They combine a detailed and in-depth study of modern asanas (postures) with a rich and colorful history and philosophy, as well as the lifestyle of yoga that offers balance and peace for life off the mat. Students will learn, practice, and teach a wide range of yoga postures, fully grasping sequencing in Hatha and Vinyasa flows.

Styles of yoga

Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. You will also learn elements of Yin, Restorative, Kundalini, and trauma-informed yoga.

  • Yoga Toolbox for Teachers and Students, 4th Edition
  • The Yoga Anatomy Coloring Book (check that you have the right book with cover pictured to right)

Please order these books at least two weeks prior to coming to the training to ensure their arrival as it is essential to the course. Arrive at the training having already read chapter I of the Teaching Yoga Book ready to discuss on day one.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Driving directions from Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO)

  • Do not trust Waze or Google maps since they may get you stuck in the mud.
  • Do not blindly follow any form of navigation.
  • First, navigate to the very small town of Platanillo, Barú, 15 minutes north of Dominical on Highway 243.
  • Navigate to Cascada Elysiana (5 kilometers down a gravel road from Platanillo).
  • Navigating in two steps avoids any chance of being sent through muddy farm roads.
  • Once you arrive, park at the Cascada Elysiana 'Parqueo'.
  • Follow the signs to hike the last 120-meter yard to reception.
  • Four-wheel drive is not required, however, use caution with cars low to the ground.

Driving directions from Dominical

  • From Route 34, go 12 kilometers northwest on highway 243 towards Platanillo.
  • Turn left onto the gravel road before Platanillo (you will see their sign 'Cascada Elysiana' and a sign for Eco Chontales).
  • Follow their road signs 5 kilometers down the unnamed gravel road to San Juan de Dios.
  • The driveway is on the left.
  • Once you arrive, park in the 'Parqueo' and follow the signs to hike the last 120 meters to reception.

Driving directions from San Isidro / Perez Zeledón

  • From Route 2, go 22 kilometers southwest on route 243 towards Dominical to Platanillo.
  • From Platanillo, turn right onto the gravel road where you see their sign and an Eco Chontales sign.
  • Follow their road signs 5 kilometers down the unnamed gravel road to San Juan de Dios.
  • The driveway is on the left.
  • Once you arrive, park in 'Parqueo' and follow the signs to hike the last 120 meters to reception.

Arrival by bus

From the MUSOC terminal, take the bus to San Isidro de El General in Perez Zeledon (three hours). A bus leaves about every hour and costs around 8 USD. Be sure to have cash as they do not accept cards. From San Isidro MUSOC bus station, walk 550 meters south east to terminal Transportes Blanco. Take the bus for Dominical but exit the bus in Platanillo at the large sign for Eco Chontales (40 minutes). From here, you need to go 5 kilometers down the gravel road to find them on the left.

The last bus to Dominical leaves San Isidro at 4:00 p.m. If you arrive after 4:00 p.m., you can take a pirate taxi to Cascada Elysiana for 15,000 CRC (up to three people). From Platanillo, you can follow their signs and hitchhike the 5 kilometers down the San Juan de Dios road or use a pirate taxi. From San Isidro / Perez Zeledón, take the bus towards Dominical from Terminal Transportes Blanco. Take the bus for Dominical but get off the bus in Platanillo at the large sign for Eco Chontales.

Arrival by shuttle

You can book a shared express shuttle directly from your hotel in San José or from Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) to the tiny beach town of Dominical for around 50 USD (three and a half hours). Private shuttles are also available. Once in Dominical, you can arrange for a taxi directly to Cascada Elysiana (recommended, 10.000 CRC) or you can follow the directions below to save yourself a few thousand colones.

Arrival by taxi

From Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO), take an Über or pirate taxi (10 USD) or an Official taxi (30 USD) to the MUSOC bus station in San José. Please note Wi-Fi at the airport is fairly reliable and may be sufficient for an Über if you do not have service in Costa Rica. You can book a pirate taxi from Perez Zeledón/San Isidro to Cascada Elysiana at 15.000 CRC.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 14% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
