These three days will give you the chance to nestle down into your mindfulness and yoga practice beneath the therapeutic warmth of the far-infrared heaters. High Lowscales Farm will be your luxury accommodation during this retreat. High Lowscales Farm is a traditional Georgian farmhouse is in 17 acres of beautiful Cumbrian rolling countryside situated in the south-western Lake District. It is an intimate setting accommodating up to 14 retreatants. All rooms have period features including slate or wooden floors oak beams, and other period features. There are up to two rooms for couples and up to three spacious male and female dorms with en-suite bathrooms. There is plenty of space to socialize and chill-out in the lounge, the top-of-the-range outdoor hot-tub, the barrel sauna, or the patio overlooking the breath-taking view.

Classes are held in the far infrared studio heated to the optimum temperature of 27 degrees. The evidence-based therapeutic benefits of practicing in this subdivision of the electromagnetic spectrum heat include increasing fitness levels, aiding in weight loss, boosting the immune system, managing health problems, both physical and mental, and improve over-all wellbeing. Aside from mindfulness meditation, the styles of yoga practiced on the retreat include Vinyasa Flow yoga, chakra balancing Yin yoga, and Restorative yoga. This is a semi-silent mindfulness-based retreat, so there will be periods of silence. Outside these periods, you will get the most out of healing experience if you have meaningful, connected conversations with one another. A day trip to Majushri Kadampa meditation center and a rejuvenating massage are designated to enhance your strength capacity and empower the invigorating effect.

  • You can immediately self-correct. If you are in class and see that you are misaligned, you will not need to wait for your teacher to correct you. And when the teacher is there, they will be able to see more clearly where you may be mis-aligned.
  • If you have been practicing a certain way, this may feel strange at first. You will noticed anomalies in the bodies you had not seen before, like a right foot which tended to stray too wide in downward facing dog, or a left leg that could not step as far forwards as the right leg. All these differences can even out in in time with consistent correct placement.

Included in the price is a day trip to Majushri Kadampa meditation center. The trip aims to get you immersed in a sacred, tranquil vibe and empower your spiritual experience.

Retreat location

This retreat will take place in Lake District, England. Time stands still in this great open space. On the one side, you have the Haverigg and Silecroft beaches and on the other, you have the green Whicham Valley and the 600 meters high Black Combe. This location is great for mountain biking, hiking, kiting, bird watching, and adventurous days out connecting with nature and the Cumbrian culture.

How to get there

Driving directions from Kendal

  • From the east or Kendal, you will approach the A595. At Hallthwaites, turn left onto the A5093 signposted towards Millom.
  • Continue for a couple of miles through The Green and The Hill. Half a mile after passing Underwood House B+B and Ghyll Scaur Quarry on the right hand side, turn right at Low House farm onto a minor road.
  • Go uphill for a few hundred meters to the top of the hill.
  • Just after the top of the hil,l turn right onto the single track farm road by a public footpath sign signposted towards “Lowscales Bank” and over the cattle grid.
  • Drive very slowly and pay attention as the road is narrow with some blind humps and only a few passing places.
  • Continue up the road and over a second cattle grid. Drive very slowly when the road bends to the left and forks.
  • Take the right fork and continue up the road through a gate. Please shut the gate and drive very slowly when approaching the blind hump.
  • Continue past some buildings on the left, over a third cattle grid and up to the farm.
  • The car park is on the left hand side. Please go through the wooden pedestrian gate and up the steps.

Arrival by train

Take the train to arrive by 12:30 at November 25 at Millom Station, Cumbria. Fresh Perception will pick you up at the station. Please note that if you miss this time, you will be responsible for your own transport to the farm. Fresh Perception will provide you with taxi information.
