Your accommodation is included in the price. This island is still in development so please be aware that almost all accommodation is wooden bungalows or guesthouses. There is 24-hour electricity so fans are available, but no air conditioners and hot water.

It is also possible to book this festival without accommodation and food. If you are choosing this option, please be aware that as this is the peak high season, making a booking may be difficult.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flights to arrive at Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH). From there, you can get a bus to Sihanoukville.

Another option is to fly to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) as cheaper flights are often available. From there, travel by bus to the Koh Kong border. The journey will take 10 to 16 hours including the border crossing.

Arrival by bus

Busses in Cambodia can be an interesting or frustrating experience. Depending on the route and provider, you could be squeezed into a 14-seater minivan or in air-conditioned comfort for the entire journey. For the latter, you are recommended to try Giant Ibis though this is only an option if you’re coming from Phnom Penh.

Giant Ibis also don’t run night busses. But if you're on a budget or a tight schedule, a night bus could save you a night’s accommodation and get you to Sihanoukville in time for the morning ferry. Another option would be to get a private taxi from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville. It’ll cost around 50 USD and take about four and a half hours. If you do decide to come from Bangkok, beware the visa scams at the border.

Arrival by ferry / boat

Boats run by Koh Rong Dive Centre leave three times a day from Sihanoukville and tickets can be purchased online or vendors in Sihanoukville. At the time of writing, fast boats leave at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 3:00 p.m., and cost 20 USD return. Times may change for high season, and a slower, cheaper boat is available and also the best way to take it all in.

Passport / visa

If you are travelling from Thailand, you do not need to buy a Cambodian visa until you have left Thailand. Once at the Cambodian border (whether arriving by land or air), a month long tourist visa can be purchased for 30 USD and a business (or regular) visa for 40 to 45 USD.

The tourist visa can be extended for one month while in Cambodia, whereas the business visa can be extended for six months or a year, however long you want to stay. If you’re unsure, this is the best option. This may seem like a lot of hassle with plane, bus, and boat, but once you’re on the island, you’ll understand, it’s all worth it!
