The views are stunning and you will be able to enjoy them while relaxing by the pool, eating home cooked Spanish cuisine and watching the sunset over the hills during the evening yoga sessions. The retreat is ideal for all level of practitioners and will cover different styles of yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises.

You will be staying at Can Jou, a holiday cottage in La Garrotxa, in the Alta Garrotxa. This retreat center is a cozy 11th-century cottage with a lovely atmosphere. There are a handful of guest rooms, a common room with a fireplace, terrace bar, and beautiful dining room. They also have a swimming pool overlooking the Pyrenees. There are hammocks, garden furniture, and swings perfect for spending some time in nature. Wi-Fi is available. You can choose from private or shared accommodation in their double, twin, or triple rooms. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms.

This retreat is designed in such a way that you can follow it the way as you please. Each day you will have the choice to attend as little or as much as you like - from dynamic morning classes to a variety of different workshops to slow and relaxing evening flows. You can bring your energy and your curiosity, just relax by the pool or enjoy the trails and nature walk close by. It’s totally up to you!

Each day will present a different yoga style and workshop and everything will be multi-level, meaning that anyone is welcome to join the retreat no matter the experience level. Vics will be leading one or two workshops daily that you can choose to attend. The options are:

Styles and you

This workshop is for those wanting to explore the different styles of yoga and their benefits. This means working with your individual lifestyle, schedule, body, and goals to deepen your understanding of yoga and your relationship to it.

Breath, breath, breath!

Everyone is always talking about breathing, but what’s the big deal? Vics will help you deepen your understanding of the importance of breath in yoga in this East-meets-West workshop.

Meditation

What is meditation? What are it’s benefits to you? In this workshop, you will discuss the practice and how to get you started or how to improve your current meditation practice.

Acro yoga and Partner yoga

It wouldn’t be a Vics retreat without this workshop. Here, you will connect, support and trust in ways that traditional yoga does not offer. Through watching, learning, and practicing, you will explore the benefits of what you can do with other people in yoga.

Arm balance and handstands

What actually powers your arm balance? Which muscles do you use? Discover not only how to do these arm balancing postures, but also how they work. Together, you will explore the steps to confidently balance on your hands!

  • 18:30 Evening practice. A gentle relaxing combination of Yin and Restorative yoga. This class is carefully planned to help you arrive, relax, and stretch out all those traveling aches.

    Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Ashtanga Yoga, Hatha Yoga)

    Vic Thomas comes from an active childhood doing gymnastics, taekwondo, and dance. She is a certified Prenatal teacher and holds ERYT 200 and RYT 500 certifications - multi styles. Her yoga journey started when someone told her about the benefits of yoga to correct a bad posture and when she realized it helped her bad posture, she was hooked. Her aim is to enable people to feel safe in classes and to guide people towards knowing their bodies better through bio-individuality. Vic has been working in India running yoga teacher training since January 2016.

This retreat will take place at La Miana in remote Can Jou, near Barcelona and Girona. This is located amongst the Pyrenees hills and therefore you will be surrounded by beautiful nature and scenery.

You can expect to enjoy a spectacular view over the Pyrenees and the entire peace of mind you need to reconnect with nature. It is serene and secluded but only a 30-minute drive away from Girona, one of the most historic sights in Spain.

Driving directions from Olot or Besalú

  • You can reach Canjou by heading to Sant Jaume de Llierca town centre.
  • When on the main street look for Industria street (depending on where you are coming from - either Olot or Besalú - it will be at the beginning or the end of the main street).
  • Take Industria street all the way to the end and cross the bridge over the Fluvià river to leave town.
  • Follow the tarmac road for approximately five kilometers until you reach La Miana, ascending through beautiful forests and quiet areas that will give you a taste of what awaits.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN). Transfer from and to the airport is included. YOMUTRA will pick you up from the airport.
