Certifications

This curriculum will take you through the basic mechanisms of the human physical and pranic body while examining the yogic lifestyle, healthy nutrition, and ethics of yoga teaching and instruction. All of this will be rounded up with a lot of practice, observation, feedback, support, and love.

The foundation of Yogagati flow combines traditional forms of Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Yin yoga. Yogagati flow is safe but challenging physically, emotionally, and spiritually, creating room for your own personal growth. It is also relaxing, fun, and unconventional because you do not follow, you innovate.

Furthermore, this course is taught over three weeks, ideal for those with limited time who want to obtain full certification or just deepen their personal practice. You don’t have to be flexible or be able to stand on your head. More important for Yogagati is your willingness to learn. The course is structured in a way that supports participants of all levels, including beginners.

During this yoga teacher training, practical lessons will be delivered in Yogagati creative flow. If one had to describe what a Yogagati flow class feels like, it would sound something like this: the breath guides the movement, the movement guides the breath, and everything else falls into place in between your inhalations and exhalations. You flow through sequences of asana offering strength, stamina, and flexibility, without pushing or forcing.

The Yogagati motto is "don’t fight your poses." The aim of any yoga practice is not the final result, but the process you go through to get there. It is the journey, not the destination that is most revealing.

Yogagati invites you to look, listen, feel, taste, and be present in that process. They want you to progress and experience growth within your skeletal structure, suppleness, and muscular strength and, of course, experience the pure joy of being present in your practice.

No matter how physical or meditative a pose can get, you are looking for the same result at the end of each class, which is a strong body, a relaxed mind, a balanced nervous and endocrine system, and massaged internal organs, all of which help release tensions and toxins and promote longevity and good health.

When the internal and external bodies are in a state of balance and unity, then relaxation, happiness, and spiritual awakening become attainable. Your body and mind are detached from tension and your soul is set free. And that is where the magic happens. How far you take it, it is up to you.

Teachings and practice

Asanas

This unit will include hands-on and practical training of poses, their sequencing, flow, and reasons. You will examine the impact of each asana on the physical and subtle body. Asanas will be explored through their alignment points. You will consider commonly made errors and the variations to simplify or intensify the pose. You will consider the importance of the joints and connective tissues and their role within asanas

Pranayama, the art of breathing

You will learn, practice, and teach different types of breath, their techniques, and functions. To name a few, you will explore Kapalabhati (cleansing breath), Nadi shodana (alternate nostril breathing), Bhramari (humming bee), Ujjayi (victorious breath), Shitali, and Sitkari (cooling breath).

There will be a discussion of the benefits and contraindications of each breath and the pros and cons of breath retention. You will learn how to use these techniques as a separate practice, as well as their place within asana practice.

Meditation

Various meditation techniques will be taught and practiced, in both walking and sitting settings. You will explore the concept and understanding of Samadhi and mindfulness, as well as mantras, chanting, and the tradition and meaning of mudras and bandhas.

Teaching methodology

Yogagati believes that the best way to teach methodology is through instruction. They will take a hands-on approach rather than a lecture style class. You will cover primarily, but not exclusively:

Anatomy

You will primarily focus on understanding the body’s mechanisms by taking a holistic approach. This unit will involve a look at the basic mechanisms of your skeletal, muscular, endocrine, respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular, and nervous systems, without bypassing the importance of joints and connective tissue within the body.

There will be a study of subtle energy bodies including chakras, nadis, aura, koshas, and how they relate and interact with the physical body. You will also explore the yogic lifestyle, what it means and does not mean, what are the types of diet that support such a lifestyle, and how does it affect your physical and non-physical bodies.

Communication

The ability to effectively communicate and connect with class participants is one of the key aspects of a successful teacher. Yogagati will help you discover your unique teaching style and investigate different aspects of language, such as the passive and active voice, speed, and selection of vocabulary. They will teach you how to create, through your communication, a trusting and safe environment in which to practice.

Planning and sequencing

As a yoga instructor, it is vital that you are able to plan and sequence your classes according to different needs, be it age, physical limitation, or injury. This training will prepare you to teach a wide spectrum of people.

Yogagati will also work with you to determine how to teach in your preferred style and show you the principles of demonstration and observation, how to safely adjust asanas, and how to use modifications and corrections so that you can offer your classes to a broad audience and allow participants to practice safely.

Practicum

To become a teacher and to excel in the yoga teacher training course you must physically practice the art of teaching. In this unit, you will learn how to teach by observing experienced teachers and fellow trainees, receiving and giving feedback, practicing teaching for all levels by using the art of adjustment and assistance, and practicing teaching for most common modern-day injuries, physical limitations, and disabilities.

Philosophy and ethics

These concepts will be looked at in a discussion-style format, where you will explore traditional yogic texts ("Yoga Sutras" of Patanjali and Bhagavad Gita), the works of Rumi ("Pema Chödrön" and "Thich Nhat Hanh," among others). The traditional yogic notions of dharma - karma and yamas - niyamas will be analyzed as to how they fit into your fast-paced modern world.

You will discuss the concept of teaching yoga as a service and being of service to others. You will tackle the ethics and lifestyle of a yoga teacher and practitioner, the importance of nutrition, on-going process of self-awareness, and the evolution of self.

    Patrycja has taught in countless yoga studios and wellness centers across Europe, the Americas, and South East Asia. Her teaching has extended to groups, private practices, specialized workshops, retreats, and teacher training. Alongside her yoga teaching certifications, she is also a qualified holistic therapist, specializing in craniosacral therapy, kinesiology, rhythmic movements training, pilates, and energy psychology.

    She often calls herself “a one woman spiritual circus”. She is a firm believer in the wisdom of the body, the strength of the heart, and the power of the breath. After studying dance, yoga, and movement around the world, she has dedicated her life to being a creative fitness educator and multidimensional performance artist. She teaches internationally with previous residencies at The Sanctuary Thailand, Talalla Retreat in Sri Lanka, Danyasa in Costa Rica, and Aqua Wellness Resort in Nicaragua. In the United States, she has taught yoga, Pilates, and barre in California, Florida, and Ohio.
