During this retreat, you will be staying at Whales & Waves. You can choose to sleep at the bamboo bungalow, admin room with air conditioner, guest house with air conditioner, or villa with air conditioner.

With four teachers from varied backgrounds, you can choose classes and workshops to suit your taste. Join Gertrud, Megan, Michael, and Felix for ten days full of yoga, meditation, pilates, Budokon yoga, CrossFit, movement training, martial arts, natural cosmetic workshops, hula hoop, snorkeling, hiking, surfing, relaxing and so much more, while connecting with awesome like-minded people.
If you want to dive deeper into your yoga studies, join Megan and Gertrud, both experienced 500-hour certified yoga teachers. Gertrud specializes in Budokon yoga and Megan is a yoga teacher trainer specializing in yoga philosophy and advanced asana. If you want more of a butt-kicking fitness class, Felix and Michael run circuit training, self-defense, and movement training classes to get you sweating.
Yoga Ties offers classes for all skill levels in yoga and meditation for beginners to high-level fitness classes. This is important to them because Yoga Ties' retreats are open to everyone and they want to make sure you get exactly what you are after. With so many teachers, Yoga Ties is able to be flexible and adjust courses according to participants and desires.
Having eleven nights instead of ten will allow you for a smooth entry and exit into the retreat. You will have all weekend to arrive to be there at the opening circle on Sunday evening. This retreat will finish on Wednesday morning, allowing for enough time for some more travel on your time.
Felix currently works as a freelancer in Berlin, Germany. He works as the European manager for the Vospertron Performance Group. Furthermore, he works as an actor and dancer. He also teaches Pilates, cross-fitness, movement, and dance classes.
Ryoga (Vinyasa Yoga)
Growing up in tiny Belgium, Gertrud always pursued the philosophy of “Healthy Mind in Healthy Body”. She finished her PhD in Pharmacy in Berlin and started focusing on whichever projects are aligned with her morals and passions: next to her freelance career as a medical writer, she is involved in herbal medicine, fashion design, R&D of anatural cosmetic creams and… YOGA. She attained her RYA200 in India and her RYA500 teacher certificate in Bali and teaches a mixture of Vinyasa Power & Flow, Hatha and Yin Yoga. Currently, she is training in the movement the movement arts of Budokon.
Megan is a 500-hour certified yoga instructor from the northeast USA. She has been practicing yoga since her youth, and became deeply interested in Buddhist meditation during the 3 years she spent living in Japan. She currently teaches yoga philosophy, history, meditation, and advanced asana at 200-hour teacher trainings in Bali and Nusa Lembongan, and is studying Balinese health meditation with a local healer. She is passionate about teaching yoga as a philosophy and lifestyle to people from varied walks of life. Her website www.yogatrotter.com provides online courses for frequent travelers.
Michael is a former United States Marine Corps Officer and Martial Arts instructor from eastern Pennsylvania, USA. His military training, combined with his love of food and cooking, has fueled Michael's passion for teaching both nutrition and fitness as well as self-defense. Since moving to Bali, he works as a health and nutrition coach, providing personalized diet and workout plans to clients based on their lifestyle and needs. His website LiberateBreakfast.com is dedicated to debunking nutrition myths perpetuated by the sugar industry, with a focus on intermittent fasting and clean eating.
This retreat takes place in West Sumbawa, Indonesia, which is known as the Bali of 20 years ago. If Bali's been seeming too crowded and touristy for you lately, this nearby island is the answer. Whales & Waves, where you will reside, is directly on one of the most stunning white sand beaches with clear blue water for snorkeling right outside your door.
