You will stay in a typical Spanish house surrounded by beautiful nature. From the doorstep you can enter many hiking trails through the park, or just walk around over the private estate. The large swimming pool filled with fresh mountain water is a favorite place to relax during the warm summer days. The house offers three different types of accommodation in a single, twin or quadruple room. It has a large living room with a cozy fire place, a large dining table and a diverse library with books about yoga, spirituality, anatomy, dreaming, mindfulness and many other topics. There are two shared bathrooms, both with a comfortable bath tub and shower. The open kitchen is the place where you can find lots of healthy vegetables and fruits, which you are free to take whenever you want. On the second floor is the yoga and meditation room, where you will do your practice most of the time. The adjacent balcony offers a magnificent view over the surrounding 'Jurassic Park' mountains.

Style of yoga and meditation

The retreat includes two yoga classes daily: one dynamic (yang) class and one gentle (yin) class. No prior experience with yoga is necessary to follow the classes, as postures will be adjusted both for beginners as more advanced practicioners. The dynamic classes are based on the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series. This invigorating morning class is physically challenging, yet has a meditative character. Through different variations of the postures, everybody can practice at their own level. Pranayama, or breathing exercises, are incorporated in the classes.

In the afternoon you will practice gentle Hatha or Yin yoga. In these classes, more passive postures are held for a longer period of time to create a meditative state, promote deeper relaxation and to target the yin structures of the body.

The daily meditation sessions will cultivate awareness of your present experience. By sitting in stillness, you become more aware of our thoughts, feelings, energies, and physical sensations. During the course of the week you will integrate this awareness into the more active parts of your practice and daily life, creating a more centered and balanced state of being. The yoga and meditation classes are supported by a variety of interesting theory classes and workshops. No one week is the same, as topics always vary according to the specific interests of the group.

The homely and personal setting of this retreat makes it unique. Most participants come alone, but being in a small yet diverse group makes it easy to get to know and connect with the other participants. It is the optimal setting to focus on your personal growth, while relaxing in nature's beauty and tranquility. Also, if you come for introspection and quiet time for yourself, this is highly respected.

Day 7 *Departure

The retreat house is located at a unique and peaceful spot in the middle of the Sierra de las Nieves national park in sunny southern Spain, a little more than an hour from Málaga airport. The typical Spanish house is surrounded by beautiful green forests and on the land is a natural brook with pure mountain water, which directly flows into the refreshing swimming pool. Here you can breathe fresh air while listening to a silent concert of birds, water and the wind through the trees.

Arrival by airplane

From Malaga international airport, it only takes a little more than an hour to reach our retreat location. If you would like to be picked up from Malaga (airport), the organizer can provide a pick-up service. Pick up and drop off are 50 EUR per trip and per person. Please let them know if you are interested in this service, as they will have to coordinate the driving time with the pick-up times from the bus station of the other participants.

Arrival by bus

From Malaga bus station you can take a bus directly to El Burgo (see bus schedule), where the organizer will pick you up by car. Buses from Malaga to El Burgo do not have to be booked in advance; you can buy your bus ticket (around 7 EUR) with the bus driver.
