All four floors of Bunrannoch House have been lovingly refurbished by its current owner, who lives in a flat on the ground floor, to recreate the warmth and charm of the original hunting lodge. The many character features include large sash windows, high ceilings, a grand staircase, and a real fire in the living room. The character of the house is complemented by its modern facilities, including en-suite bathrooms in every bedroom, wireless internet access and a large, commercial style kitchen.

Bunrannoch House sleeps a maximum of 16 people, in seven bedrooms, all of which have en-suite bathrooms. There is plentiful off-street parking and the gardens extend to more than two acres. One set of bed linens, a hand towel, and a bath towel will be provided to each participant. Single rooms can be arranged upon request and may incur a supplement.

What does the yoga involve?

Yoga will be available daily as an activity, usually with a morning and an afternoon or evening session. As with all the activities, participation is encouraged but optional. As the retreat progresses, you may feel increased benefits of doing a daily practice. Lindsey’s style of teaching follows her Hatha yoga teacher training which she often adds to with elements from other yoga styles such as Bikram, Yin yoga, and others.

Yoga sessions will be tailored to suit the level and needs of the group and are suitable from a complete beginner level up to intermediate level or someone who enjoys a regular, sustained practice. Everyone will have the opportunity to find their edge and move beyond it to discover new aspects of their mind and body through their yoga practice. Modifications are given to enable everyone to achieve the maximum benefits of their practice and enable any specific injuries or restrictions to be worked with.

A small number of yoga mats will be available to borrow for those that do not have their own, at no extra charge.

What does the walking involve?

The aim is to include a walk of 30 minutes to four hours each day during the retreat (weather dependent) and, as with all the activities, this is optional. You can choose to join the walk or perhaps alternatively enjoy some time in front of the fire in the house. These walks will be based predominantly in and around the local area close to the house, although may occasionally involve a short drive.

For one day of the retreat, a full-day of guided high-level walking will be attempted. This option will be suitable for novices, although a good level of fitness is required and will also depend on the weather conditions.

The walks are tailored to each individual group based on their previous experience of hill-walking, levels of fitness, and what they are looking to achieve. The group moves at the pace of the slowest person and regular breaks will be taken to chat, admire the view, eat snacks, and drink water. Some coaching activities may also be done along the way, which can be a different and wonderful way to work through things.

A suggested list of required gear will be sent out at the time of booking.

What does the coaching involve?

Both Cat and Lindsey are qualified INPLTA NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) practitioners, and Cat has now also completed her Master Practitioner, therefore the coaching sessions will be predominantly based on NLP coaching techniques. At times, they may bring in or include other coaching practices. As with all the activities, taking part in each coaching exercise is optional but encouraged.

Coaching can take place around any topic you wish to explore. This could be something "big and meaty" like a career change, relationship change, or working towards an important goal. Or, it could be something smaller but important to you, like wanting to start a new hobby, increase your fitness activity, or to improve a relationship at work.

Each individual is welcome to come up with an idea(s) of what they would like to work on during the retreat (some pre-thinking prompts will be sent out to you closer to the retreat date to help you with this) or you may choose to just see what comes up during the retreat. Both approaches work well. The coaches will also suggest topics or themes that can be explored by everyone and work during the week.

Coaching activities will include both one-to-one conversations with either facilitator, or with another participant on the retreat, and guided group activities. This type of retreat can help you by providing a safe and nurturing space to think things through, to explore your situation through some guided processes, and to reconnect with what is most important to you. At the very least, you will gain new insights into your own situation. You may find you discover a big change that you want to make.


This is an example schedule that can be adapted to the requirements of the group and weather conditions. All other time will be free to spend as you wish.

Bunrannoch House is a large Victorian hunting lodge built in 1860, which stands proudly in its large grounds, on the outskirts of the village of Kinloch Rannoch, in highland Perthshire. The remote village lies at the eastern end of the 10 mile long Loch Rannoch, in an incredibly tranquil setting, surrounded by some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery, including the 3,553 feet high Schiehallion, the "Fairy Hill of the Caledonians".

There is a wide range of wildlife in the peaceful glen, often seen in the gardens of Bunrannoch House, including deer, red squirrels, and many birds of prey. Despite the remote location, the house is well positioned for a wide range of activities, from touring fairytale castles, or sampling whisky distilleries, to salmon fishing on the river Tay, or "bagging" some of Scotland's 282 Munros (mountains over 3,000 feet).

Wholesome home cooking will be provided for every meal and afternoon snacks, covering both meat and vegetarian options (and occasionally fish). Plenty of tea, coffee, drinks, and homemade cakes will be available.

Alcohol is not included in the cost of the retreat, with the exception of wine being served as part of the welcome meal for those that would like a glass. You are welcome to bring along your own alcoholic drinks, to enjoy in moderation, in the evenings, throughout the retreat.

Activités et lieux à visiter

In addition to the scheduled activities for each day, there will be periods of downtime, to spend as you wish. Here are a few ideas of what you could do:

  • Continue and extend the useful conversations from the coaching activities
  • Enjoy the peace of the garden, wander along the loch shore, and explore the immediate surroundings
  • Help with cooking tasks if it is something you enjoy doing
  • Relax in the comfortable lounge and dining room
  • Read a book or enjoy some "mindful colouring" (a number of mindful based reads will be available along with a small number of colouring books and pencils. You are welcome to bring your own as well)
  • Visit the nearby village of Kinloch Rannoch, a 15-minute walk away. Although small, Kinloch Rannoch has a village shop (which doubles as a post office) selling a basic range of foods. There is also Treats café which has a small selection of souvenirs and artwork including glassware, woodcraft, and paintings for sale.
  • Holistic and complimentary therapies including Indian head massage and Reiki healing are optional extras available on request.
  • For the way home, you may want to visit the Fortingall Yew Tree, a 30 to 40-minute drive away. Experts estimate the tree to be between 1500 and 3000 years old. It may be the oldest tree in Britain and is situated in a quaint spot.
  • Or Queen's View provides a stunning view point down Loch Tummel and is a great way to end your retreat experience.

Driving directions from Glasgow or Edinburgh

The retreat location is about a two-hour drive from any of these two cities. Where possible, Yoga~Nu~U will help join up participants to enable lift sharing. Please let them know if this is something you are interested in.

Arrival by airplane

The nearest airports are Edinburgh Airport (EDI), Inverness Airport (INV), Dundee Airport (DND), or Glasgow Airport (GLA) which can be connected by train to Pitlochry.

Arrival by train

The nearest train station is Pitlochry. Glasgow and Edinburgh stations are accessible to and from most parts of the UK. Pitlochry station is about a 30-minute drive away from the retreat location.
