At this point of balance between the seasons, harness the energy of the equinox, and celebrate this special time, deep in the peace of the North Norfolk countryside. Balancing the demands of daily life and taking care of yourself can be challenging. How can you stay centered and calm? How can you step back to gain perspective and move forward with clarity? Learn yogic techniques such as breath, visualisation, meditation, reflection and relaxation to help restore calm and a clear sense of what is most important in your life.

The kitchen and lounge are available for retreat participants, as well as the outdoor decking area and half an acre garden, which has a stream at the bottom. In the winter, the wood-burner in the lounge keeps everything cozy, and in the summer, there's no better place to be than out on the decking, watching the sun go down. Mid season, we sit by the fire pit and contemplate the moon and stars.

The yoga studio is available for your own practice out of dedicated workshop time. Places are limited to eight participants, so the environment is supportive, personal, and holding. People love the peace and quiet here, the rural tranquility, as well as nearly 30 years of practice that has gone into the fabric of the place.

All guests are made to feel very welcome and supported in their journey throughout the retreat, responding spontaneously to any needs as they arise. Harnsers End is within walking distance of Itteringham village with shop, pub and cafe, and also the beautiful woods of the Blickling Hall estate, which are within a 10 minute walk of the house. You can go along footpaths and find the river Bure, and enjoy the rural tranquility of this beautiful place.

Yogalightness UK Yoga Retreat Program

Arrive on Friday afternoon from 3 p.m. onward. Enjoy a delicious home-cooked organic wholefood supper before getting to know like-minded people, relaxing and settling down into your comfortable room.

Saturday morning starts at 7:45 a.m. with an hour of Yasodhara Yoga Hatha yoga. Breakfast is at 8:45 a.m. and you have until 10 a.m. to relax before the morning workshop.

The morning consists of two hours of relaxation practices, gently exploring how to find balance in your life, through yogic techniques such as breathing, visualisation, creativity and reflection. There will be a break during the morning for refreshments.

Lunch is after the morning workshop. There is then time to go for a walk, read, rest, relax, and simply please yourself. There may also be reflections to consider from the morning workshop during that time.

The 2 1/2 hour afternoon workshop carries on from the mornings explorations, finishing around 4:30/5 p.m. This is a gentle workshop, which will support you in finding balance in your life. It gives tools to take with you to help keep centered on an ongoing basis.

You then have free time until supper at 6 p.m. After supper, satsang will be offered to those who would like to take part, from 7 to 7:45 p.m. This is entirely optional. You then have the rest of the evening to carry on relaxing, unwinding, and reflecting.

On Sunday morning, breakfast is from 8-9 a.m., followed at 10 a.m. by a two-hour yoga and relaxation workshop. You then have the rest of the day to use as you please. You can rest, read, reflect, walk, explore, and take time out to feel the benefits of relaxing deeply. Lunch is at 1:30 p.m., or can be earlier if you'd like to go off and explore Blickling Hall and its beautiful park and woodland walks (2 miles away), North Norfolk, the coast or the Broads.

Departure is by 4 p.m. You are, of course, very welcome to extend your stay by separate arrangement, and leave at your leisure.

Jane started practicing Hatha yoga in 1991, and has studied with many internationally recognised teachers in India, Greece, Italy, France, Canada and England. She started teaching yoga in 1999 and is a Senior Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance UK. She holds CPD Courses for Yoga Teachers as well for as those looking for a deeper meaning to life. In January 2016 Jane spent five months at Yasodhara Ashram in Canada, and is now a dedicated Yasodhara Yoga Teacher. She loves to cook wholesome delicious meals, make her guests very welcome, as well as showing them the beauty of the local area.

Lieu du séjour

The situation is unique, giving both rural isolation in the beautiful Bure Valley area of North Norfolk and being close to Itteringham, two miles from Blickling, five minutes from Aylsham, and fifteen minutes from Holt and Reepham. It is within easy reach of the North Norfolk coast, and only a thirty minutes' drive to the beautiful historic cathedral town of Norwich.


All meals are home cooked and organic where possible. They also tend to be whole food and gluten free. Breakfast will typically be porridge, cereal, toast and jam with as much tea, coffee or herbal drinks as you like. Lunch and supper will depend on what is locally available at the time.

A sattvic diet is aimed for, and may include dhal, rice, bakes, Mediterranean type diet, and plenty of vegetables and salads. some of which may come from the garden depending on what is available and in season. All meals are vegetarian, and mainly vegan. Special diets are no problem as long as they are notified in advance.

Activités et lieux à visiter

This retreat is very much about relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet of the season and the environment. There will be time before the afternoon workshop to go for a walk and enjoy the country lanes. You may have time to walk in Blickling woods, which are just up the road. There is the option to stay on afterwards to explore the countryside and coast.

Arrival by airplane

The closest airport is Norwich International Airport (NWI), 13 miles south. Norwich also has a railway station.

Arrival by bus

Buses run from Norwich Bus Station to the nearby market town of Aylsham every half an hour. Transfers are not included, but lifts from Aylsham can be arranged at no extra charge.
