Join this 8-day yoga retreat with Yoga Hvar in Stari Grad, Hvar, Croatia. Yoga Hvar's program is suitable for beginners as well as for more advanced and experienced yoga practitioners. Yoga practice includes asanas/postures, as well as breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation. The instructor may demonstrate variations of asanas to accommodate each level of practice so that everyone can benefit from the class. So, whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, you are welcome to this retreat!
During this retreat, you will stay in a private room with double occupancy and a shared bathroom. All the rooms are similar and in the same part of town. A single room occupancy for 10 EUR extra per day is also available. Single room occupancy or any discounts are based upon availability. It is also possible to book a suite (a room with bathroom enclosed).
The daily schedule in Stari Grad, Hvar, follows the routine of many ashrams in India with regard to yoga classes, timings, and other activities. There are approximately 105 minutes of yoga in the morning and 75 minutes in the afternoon / evening. Those almost always include asana, pranayama, and meditation, with some exceptions. The schedule is optional but strongly recommended in order to gain the greatest benefits.

Thursday is a free day without any activities, but brunch, snack, and dinner (optional) are provided. It is also the first day of each week's program, with a short evening orientation for the following week.
There are also optional bicycle tours to the neighboring towns, boat trips to remote beaches, and hikes, subject to interest. The free bikes are provided for longer staying participants, more than 2 weeks.
The library with a collection of spiritual, transpersonal, and yoga literature is available and open from 11:00-11:30.
You can also enjoy other activities such as biking tours to neighboring towns (Jelsa, Vrbovska, Basina, etc), hike to watch the sunset to the neighboring hilltops, take boat rides to serene, less populated beaches and bays, and visit various festivals and art fairs.
This yoga retreat will take place in Stari Grad, Hvar island. It was voted by Conde Nast Traveler readers (2009) as one of the 10 most beautiful islands in the world. It is famous for its extraordinary natural beauty as well as for its cultural and historic heritage.
The meals are lactovegetarian or vegan and that is what Yoga Hvar recommends if you want to get the full benefit of your stay here. There is optional fish or seafood on Friday. The daily menu consists of brunch at 10:00-11:00, two snacks at your optional time (e.g. 15:00-15:30), and optional dinner.
The brunch consists of breakfast items with Yoga Hvar's popular fruit salad, green or other salads, bread, cooked vegetables, grains, pasta, or similar meals. Dinner is self-service, with available snack food, fruit, and tea. Also, there are several good restaurants that serve vegetarian and vegan food close to the center.
Meals are always accompanied with fresh fruit or vegetable juices or tea lemonade. The food is a mixture of Indian, Macrobiotic, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and Balkan vegetarian cuisine. There is a tea and snack area available at any time. Fresh herbs can be picked from the garden and used for the tea.
Massage, reiki, and other treatments are available nearby.
Please book your flight to arrive at Split Airport (SPU)at the town of Jelsa. You have the option to take a hydroplane from Split to Hvar.
There are ports in Stari Grad (the main one), Hvar, Jelsa, and Sucuraj. There are ferry boats from Split to Starigrad 5 to 7 times daily during the season. The crossing takes approximately 105 minutes. From Italy about 2 times daily (Ancona and Pescara). Yoga Hvar will pick you up at the Stari Grad port approximately 2 kilometers away.
There are train services to Split from several cities and neighboring countries.
