Come and join Rodrigo de la Barrera, Xinalani Yoga Resident Teacher and experienced Ashtangi and enjoy Xinalani Ashtanga Yoga Program. Classes include Mysore practice every morning starting at 07:00. and Ashtanga workshops on inversions, alignment, transitions, and introduction to the intermediate series. You will reside at Xinalani Retreat. Xinalani has 23 ocean front rooms, with a total capacity of 54 people. All the accommodations are beachfront, spacious, palm-thatched cabins floating on stilts. The suites and rooms were designed with refined elegance, and it was built and furnished by local artisans. Their cozy interiors inspire feelings of calm and serenity.
You will enjoy the closeness of the natural elements, the stimulation of the open-air private showers, and the stunning views of Puerto Vallarta and the Pacific Ocean from your terrace. Since its very beginning, Xinalani has taken the pledge to offer a more affordable option for budget conscious travelers that seek to build community.
Big Palapa is a dorm-style room (880 square feet). It is spacious and cozy with two comfortable bathrooms. Each bed has its own mosquito net, a night stand, and a large drawer under the bed. Big Palapa offers 2 bathrooms with hot water and amazing views to the ocean and the jungle. The guests do not get access to Wi-Fi from their room but they generally do not mind walking to the dining patio, the bar, or the beach club to have free access to the internet.
The Small Palapa is a large room (650 square feet) equipped with 4 high-quality single beds. Each bed has its mosquito net and a night stand. Located high on the mountain, this room is the closest to the yoga space, the Jungle Studio. It has a large terrace, a hammock, and a lounge to sit back and relax while you enjoy a beautiful view of the jungle and the sea.
It has a complete luxurious bathroom with an outdoor shower. The Small Palapa is the best choice for a group of friends or a family. At the Small Palapa, there is no wireless internet access. However, the guests can walk to the front-desk, restaurant, or bar to surf the web.
Deluxe Rooms (260 square feet) are cozy and perfect for single travelers, two friends, or budget-savvy couples. They feature either 2 single beds or 1 double bed, spacious bathroom, open air shower, and sitting desk. There are 8 deluxe rooms and they are located near the restaurant and beach club. Deluxe room guests don't get access to Wi-Fi from their room but they generally do not mind walking to the dining patio or reception.
These are cozy and private casitas with ocean and jungle views. They are 400 square feet and equipped with one king size bed or two double beds with pillow top mattresses, luxury linen and a beautiful silk mosquito netting, a private terrace with an ocean and jungle view, a hammock, a sitting area, a complete private bathroom, and a closet.
There are 5 Petite Suites in total, two of them with a king-sized bed (suite 8 and 11) and the others (suites 9, 10, and 12) with 2 double beds. Petite Suites guests do not get access to Wi-Fi from their room but they generally do not mind walking to the dining patio or reception.
The Eco-chic Suite is the higher-end room. They are characterized by a spectacular ocean view and a unique zen-chic setting. They are equipped either with one king size bed or two double beds. All Eco-chic Suites are 525 square feet. They have a private terrace, a hammock, a sitting area, a private bathroom, and a closet.
They have luxurious amenities and amazing settings. Their privileged location on the property gives them the best view. All beds have pillow top mattresses and gorgeous mosquito netting. All rooms have a safe locker to deposit valuables. Hot water is available in all rooms.
There is a total of 8 Eco-chic Suites (4 suites are equipped with two double beds and 4 suites are equipped with one king size bed). Suite 1, 3, 5 and 7 are equipped with two double beds. Each morning, there will be morning Mysore class based on the traditional method of Ashtanga yoga. All guests will be self-led into the practice under the watchful guidance and supportive instruction of Rodrigo. This will be an exciting opportunity to become more profoundly grounded and immersed in the practice within the beautiful natural setting of Xinalani.
The evening workshops will be dedicated to all aspects of the Ashtanga yoga methodology including practical techniques and philosophical wisdom in regards to integrating yoga principles into daily life. This is a time to be inspired and more deeply rooted within the true nature of the self through the context of Ashtanga yoga and all the beauty and insight it entails. This retreat is appropriate for all levels.

Rodrigo believes that lineage is the uttermost importance of yogic teachings. That is why his personal practice is based on the traditional Ashtanga and also Iyengar systems. He has the privilege to study with some of the world´s most recognized Ashtanga teachers such as Maty Ezraty, Kino McGregor, Laruga Glaser and Wayne Krassner. Rodrigo started practicing on a regular basis in 2010, learning with a strong sense of search while incorporating the philosophy of yoga in his life.
This retreat will be held at Xinalani Retreat in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This 250-yard-wide private beach is accessible only by boat. Personalized transportation service is available for you who’d like to be escorted from the airport to Xinalani.
Xinalani stands about 20 miles south of Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR). It will take you a minimum of 45 minutes to get to the resort from the airport. Depending on boat traffic that day, it may require some waiting time (up to an hour) at the API Terminal Marítima pier.
Xinalani is very fortunate because they have immediate access to two wonderful beaches. The one in front of the resort has both sand and great inspiring animal-shaped rocks. It also has private natural coves. The other beach on the left-hand side when facing the ocean is pure sand. That beach gets a very nice surf break in the winter season from November to April, surfers enjoy that beach a lot.
You will be served three-time delicious healthful meals with non-alcoholic drinks during meals. Xinalani Retreat takes great pride in their food. You will be served from a menu that's designed for yogis and people who care about health and fitness. The food is both healthy and delicious and includes eggs, food, seafood, and chicken, but no red meat or pork. Xinalani Retreat offers vegan and gluten-free options at every meal.
Wine, beer, and a selection of delicious fresh hand shaken stirred or mixed cocktails can be served. Drinks from outside the resort are not allowed in the property. If you want to bring your own bottle, the corkage fee is 50 USD per bottle.
The menu may be adapted to your needs. Please send your specific dietary requirements at least two weeks before your arrival. Xinalani Retreat can cater to vegan, raw, gluten free requests. Some requests may trigger an additional fee. You can ask for a sample of the menu to have an idea of what will be served during your stay at Xinalani Retreat.
Xinalani Retreat can also help you with your allergy. Let Xinalani Retreat know of your food allergy two weeks at least before your arrival to the retreat, and they’ll make sure your diet restrictions will be catered to.
Please book your flight to arrive at Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR). Transfer and to the airport is included. Xinalani Retreat will pick you up from the airport.
For boat transportation purposes, you should book an arrival flight that lands no later than 4 p.m. and a departure flight that takes off no earlier than 11 a.m. The last boat service leaves at 6.30 p.m. from a little fisherman town called Boca de Tomatlán, 45 minutes south of Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR).
Traveling by boat at night is not recommended for safety reasons. For that matter, if you cannot be at the pier at 6.30 p.m., Xinalani Retreat recommends you spend the night in Puerto Vallarta and catch an early boat in the morning.
