This retreat will take place in Kerala, Mysore, Chennai, and Auroville, India. India is an amazing country. It is the birthplace of yoga and Buddhism and one of the most ancient cultures on the planet. To venture, there is an incredible blessing, like nothing you've ever experienced, like nowhere you've ever been.
With all of its gems, India is also a challenge. It can be an assault on the senses at times. India is a riot of colors and smells, a mix of beauty, poverty, compassion, neglect, joy, and sadness, all of them at once and more.
The wise embark on a journey through India with reverence and patience. Fully present and flexible, you'll do your best to embrace each experience the country and its people present to you.
This is where Indians and non-Indians alike come to rejuvenate. You begin your journey here, close to nature, to purify the senses, restore the body, awaken the mind, and free the spirit.
From this awakened place, you are more receptive to all that lies on the journey ahead. Kerala is a place where culture, art, and the ancient traditions of yoga, Ayurveda, and meditation all play a part in daily life.
The historic city of Mysuru (which changed its name from Mysore in 2014) is one of South India's most enchanting, famed for its glittering royal heritage and magnificent monuments and buildings.
Mysore is a city of palaces, gardens, shady avenues, and sacred temples that retain the charm of old India. Mysore is also the home of Ashtanga yoga and the legacy of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.
You come to Chennai specifically to visit the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM). This center is dedicated to the teachings of the great father of modern yoga, TKV Krishnamacharya (the guru of the great modern gurus). In the Viniyoga method, the tools of yoga asana and pranayama are adapted to the needs of the individual student.
2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of Auroville, a community inspired by The Mother, spiritual partner of Sri Aurobindo, one of the most important Indian gurus and philosophers of the time. Their intention was to develop a city for the "new humanity". Today, people from 42 different countries and nationalities are living here.
The Matrimandir is the temple at the center of Auroville, surrounded by the Peace Garden.
The yoga teachings of Sri Aurobindo, known as Integral yoga, states that yogic development consists of two parts; the standard yogic goal of ascent into a formless and timeless self and the descent and establishment of the supramental consciousness into earthly life.
Aurovilians are committed to living and supporting a yogic life. All Aurovilians provide community service.
You will be served daily breakfast during the whole trip. When in Kerala, you will be served all meals while in Auroville you will enjoy daily dinners.
This trip includes a three-day Ayurvedic rejuvenation treatment with a doctor's consultation. You will be provided with meals according to your dosha constitution.
Please book your flight to arrive at Cochin International Airport (COK) anytime on January 20, 2018.
