Yoga

In the western world, yoga is often seen as simply asanas (postures) or a fitness regime designed for building muscles and improving flexibility. In fact, asanas are just one part of the yoga system. The goal is to bring stillness to the mind, to be present in your actions, and reverse the effects of your high energised ever moving fast paced lifestyles.

It’s about relaxing the body and the mind. It’s letting go of the past, allowing yourself a reprieve from the future and standing still for one moment in the here and now. By doing so, you clear your minds which is often clouded by years of unconscious perceptions and actions which have become habituated in your minds.

When you are free of your habituated perceptions and actions, you are able to perceive the world and situations clearly so that you may make the correct decisions and act accordingly.

The word yoga has been given many meanings. The most commonly used is “to unite” or “union” referring to reuniting yourself, re-balancing, bringing together the body, breath, mind, and much more. There is another meaning which is "to attain what was previously unattainable”, whether this was touching your toes or having the confidence to go for that dream job interview it does not matter - the journey from that point to another higher point in whatever aspect of your life is yoga.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a powerful technique that teaches you to relax physically, mentally, and emotionally. In the hectic schedules of life, people seldom truly relax, they slump on sofas using sensory distractions such as television or alcohol but these really are only distractions, not true relaxation. In order to completely relax, you must be consciously aware of it, you must withdraw your senses, and focus your attentions inwards.

The word yoga Nidra is often referred to as yogic sleep and although you may appear to be asleep, you are still functioning on the levels of hearing and awareness. It is deep relaxation with inner awareness.

By withdrawing the senses and completely relaxing the body, the mind, and the emotions, you are able to access your subconscious and unconscious simultaneously. Working on this level, your receptivity increases. You can develop your memory, enhance your knowledge, increase your creativity, and even transform your nature.

Walks in the beautiful Dorset or Wiltshire countryside are included in the price.

Best wet weekend in Dorset ever!

CONS Je n'ai pas aimé: The rain..but to be honest even that was lovely to listen to from underneath canvas or in the barn.

PROS J'ai aimé: From the moment I arrived, Kristy made me feel so welcome especially as I came on my own. She was a great yoga instructor and I feel I learned a lot and my yoga has developed as a result. It was an amazing experience much more than I expected. Even coping with pretty rough weather. I loved the food, the company, the yoga and the beautiful woodland scenery it was definitely a back to nature experience. I'm booking again for next year.

CONS Je n'ai pas aimé: Nothing.

PROS J'ai aimé: Everything! I have never been on a yoga retreat and am a complete beginner. This holiday was much more than I expected and Kristy is a wonderful teacher/cook/organiser etc. The group gelled really well. It was like I already knew them. Kristy helped me, at a level that I understood, when and where appropriate. A real holiday to cherish in my memories. Doing yoga and mediation in different locations around the site worked brilliantly for me. I especially loved lying in the long grass, with a beautiful sky above and warm sun on my face, for one of the meditations.

Réponse de l'organisateur: Thank You for your kind words and wonderful review. It was a pleasure and honour to guide such a wonderful, loving and open group of individuals such as yourself and I am so glad you enjoyed. I hope to see you again soon. Much Love and warmest wishes Kristy xxx

Wonderful retreat with caring leader and group

PROS J'ai aimé: The location was amazing - beautiful wooded areas for camping and yoga practice. Kristy was a perfect host for the weekend. She made it a welcoming space for everyone, adjusted the schedule as the group required, created a caring, community environment for all and cooked tasty food to suit the needs of the individuals and group. Would highly recommend to anyone who would like a non-traditional yoga retreat which focuses on nature and people rather than on luxury accommodations. (If you like sleeping in a tent - which I do! - it feels luxurious anyway.)

Réponse de l'organisateur: Thank You for such a stunning review and such lovely words. I was truly blessed to have such a wonderful group of loving, open ladies, it was a real privilege to meet you all and guide you through yoga and meditation. I really hope to see you again soon. Much love and warmest wishes Kristy xxx

  • Avis de Debbie Ryland, Royaume-Uni

"Kristy has been teaching yoga to a client that I support with autistic spectrum disorders. There is a real sensitivity that Kristy puts across in such simple down to earth ways, giving clear instructions and positive encouragement, adapting her teaching to the needs of the individual. My client looks forward to the private one to one class and is comfortable with Kristy, following her instructions and maintaining focus which is in part due to her teaching abilities. The class helps to maintain flexibility and can be deeply relaxing and calming. I would not hesitate in recommending her to others."

  • Avis de Veronica Potta, the UK

"I spent today at Kristy's yoga retreat day and I cannot think of a better way to spend a Sunday. It was a chance to step out of my busy life and focus on myself by working with all aspects of my body and mind. Kristy's friendly and knowledgeable teachings put everyone at their ease. It was a treat to have the time to enjoy a space between each asana, an opportunity to look within at what was happening physically, emotionally, and mentally. Kristy's choice of postures meant that by the end of the day, all aspects of the body were covered, blockages shifted, and system back in the flow. The day was varied and apart from the yoga, also included chanting, toning, and pranayama - all of which led naturally to relaxed and focused meditation."

"Kristy also provided a very tasty, homemade, vegetarian meal which was extremely welcome. I feel replenished on many levels. My body is relaxed and I feel re-energized. Thank you Kristy for a wonderful day."
