Kalani offers accommodations to suit diverse preferences and budgets. The rustic accommodations are simple, outside-in spaces, which offer comfort and tranquility. Angular octagonal or pentagonal structures are a contrast to box-based architecture, and invite a departure from routine.
Kalani accommodations are not equipped with heating or air conditioning, as Kalani is situated on the east coast of Hawaii island, benefiting from the persistent east-to-west Pacific trade wind flow. Windows in the accommodations are screened, maximizing airflow and views, and there are no phones or televisions in the rooms.
Accommodation types vary from bamboo cottages which can sleep up to three people, lofts with two private bedrooms and a shared space, tree-house rooms located under the cool shade of a large monkeypod tree, free standing bungalows, and two leveled hale lodges.
Your home for this training course will be the Kalani Retreat Center. Kalani is an educational nonprofit organization that celebrates Hawaii, nature, culture, and wellness. It is located on Hawaii island, commonly known as the Big Island, and is bordered by tropical jungle and the Pacific Ocean.

Leaving the Hilo airport, turn left at traffic light onto Kanoelehua Avenue, Highway 11 South.
Continue on Highway 11 until you are out of town, for about 5.9 miles.
Turn left onto Kea'au Pahoa bypass road/Highway 130 South and continue for 21 miles, passing Pahoa.
After mile-marker 20, there is a left-hand turn lane shortly after a large sign which says End of Road - 1 mile. This important left turn is past a green church and in sight of the ocean. A sign will direct you either to Kalapana or End of Road. Turn left towards Kalapana, then curve right.
Follow this short road to a stop sign at a T-junction and turn left onto Kalapana-Kapoho Road/Coastal Highway 137.
After about five miles, between the 17 and 18 mile-markers, and a half-mile beyond Kalapana Sea View Estates, Kalani will be on your left, marked with a lighted entrance sign.
There is very limited public transportation via the Hele-On county bus that leaves from the downtown Hilo bus station (a few miles from the airport). This is a slow, but inexpensive option that comes right to Kalani, if you can coordinate your schedule.
