Shanti Yoga Ashram provides guests with an ashram environment in a homestay setting, surrounded by the splendor of nature. This affords a cozy environment conducive to spiritual practice, where those who stay at the ashram can get a taste of authentic yogic lifestyle along with traditional Nepalese culture. ​The ashram provides a few private rooms and shared dorm room facilities. Availability is based on current occupancy.

You can stay in the guesthouse, bamboo house or in one of the huts. Water for bathing is powered by solar. Electrical outages are part of life in Nepal, however, it is easy to adapt since Shanti Yoga Ashram has solar energy for heating water and gas or fire for cooking. They have lights that are battery-powered, not dependent on the coming and going of electricity. The accommodation provides hot shower and 24-hour Wi-Fi is available.

Navaratri is the most powerful time of year for yogis and yoginis to do spiritual practice, especially to awaken the nine chakras. Hence, the name Nava meaning nine and Ratri meaning night. It is also the ideal time connect with the Goddess Durga in her nine forms, who removes all obstacles on the spiritual path and can grant the awakening of Kundalini Shakti.

Kundalini is the name of a sleeping potential force in the human being and is situated at the root of the spinal column. With the awakening of Kundalini, the greater intelligence is aroused from its sleep and you can give birth to a new range of creativity. To awaken Kundalini, you must prepare yourself with yoga techniques, becoming aware of the energy within each chakra or energy center of the body.

You will discover:

  • Asanas for each chakra done in a systematic way
  • Mudras and bhandas
  • Pranayama to vitalize and balance
  • The circulation of prana with awareness and visualization
  • The significance of each chakra and how to activate and purify it

​​You will do practices for each individual chakra to purify and make it stronger to handle the Kundalini energy when it awakens. During this seven day program, you will dedicate one day to activate each of the seven chakras with the help of various yogic techniques such as cleansing, asana, pranayama, mudra, bhanda, bija mantras, and meditation.

The result will be a light energized body full of prana shakti, a crystal clear state of mind unlike you’ve experienced before, and a pure blissful state of consciousness. Within a short time frame, you can experience the gift of Kundalini Shakti.

Prakash is the founder of Shanti Yoga Ashram, has been dedicated to yoga since childhood. He studied at the Bihar School of Yoga where he received initiation from Swami Niranjanananda. For the past 10 years, he has continued to deepen his knowledge in Nepal with Swami Shivalingam, Tantra Yoga Master. For the past 18 years, he has been fully immersed in teaching yoga both at home and abroad. He has circled the globe introducing the deeper aspect of yoga practice.
Meera has always been sensitive to subtle matter and keen on the spiritual side of human nature. Willing to expand her awareness, she has been exploring Asia, studying Eastern philosophy, religion, traditions of different nations and improving her yoga and meditation techniques. She shares that obtained experience with her students during each yoga class, making it enjoyable and beneficial for both the body and soul. Meera emphasizes the importance of the Bhakti path and offers a personal approach to every person, giving advice for increasing divine qualities.

Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas with a picturesque view, less than one hour from Kathmandu, Shanti Yoga Ashram is the perfect sanctuary to go deeply into the essence of yoga. Shanti Yoga Ashram is located in the countryside next to a large forest where you can go hiking.

You will be provided with three freshly cooked organic meals a day. The morning's normal breakfast is oatmeal and fruit, lunch is the main meal, and dinner is usually fresh cooked bread with vegetables.

Shanti Yoga Ashram provides its guests with traditional Nepalese food. This includes Nepal’s famous dal bhat or rice and legumes, fresh fruits and vegetables, pickle dish, and traditional roti.

Much of the produce used for meals comes from the family’s organic garden. Some items you can find in the field are cauliflower, cabbage, a variety of greens, persimmons, oranges, plums, kiwis, spices and herbs, chilies, radish, and much more.

Please book your flight to arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM). Please arrive afternoon or evening before the start date of the course, dinner is included.

Arrival by bus

You can take a bus from Kathmandu City to arrive at the ashram.

Arrival by taxi

You can take a taxi from Kathmandu City to the ashram, and tell the driver to go towards Kirtipur on the way to Machchegaun. Please send Shanti Yoga Ashram an inquiry for further directions.
