This holiday will incorporate a balance of yoga and meditation classes, guided walks and free time. Satvada Retreats personal experience of some retreats is that days can be jam-packed with busyness, with little time to properly unwind, and take the opportunity for non-doing. The host venue for the six days is a private Croatian villa, built in traditional stone style, but with a spacious contemporary interior. It is perched virtually on a beautiful pebble beach. The villa has a private swimming pool with views to the sea, and an alfresco area equipped with sun beds and long, vine-covered table for al fresco dining.

Three of the bedrooms boast sea views, and two have a small private balcony; sea-front rooms are allocated on a strictly first come, first served basis.

Bedrooms are attractively, simply designed, and mostly come with large en-suite bathrooms. Two rooms share a bathroom, and one bedroom (which is en-suite and especially spacious) is downstairs.

The ground floor is open plan, with a combined dining and chill-out space, and full-height glass doors, opening to the front, paved garden and beach.

The intention of Satvada Retreats is to offer a range of scheduled activity - in the form of two taught yoga and meditation classes daily, two guided 2/3 hour walks over two mornings, and an optional day excursion. Afternoons are your own (apart from if you opt for the day trip), and you are free to join activities as your wish.

Yoga and meditation classes

The twice daily 90-minute yoga and mindfulness meditation classes - taken outside by the swimming pool, weather permitting - will be suitable for all levels. The morning class will be dynamic Hatha flow yoga, with different options given for varying levels of experience.

Each evening session will be a stress-busting combination of gentle yoga (including calming Restorative yoga) and mindfulness meditation. The teachers are chosen for their sensitive, nurturing approach, and will give as much attention as possible to you as an individual.

How your day will look

Your days begin with an energizing yoga class at around 08.00-09.30, followed by breakfast.

If there is a guided walk scheduled (on two mornings), all will then set off from the villa, returning for a late brunch at around 12.30.

On the day of the optional walk, all guests will be provided with a packed brunch.

Afternoons are for you to do as you please. You will enjoy afternoon tea at around 15.30, with a selection of local cakes and pastries, or fruit. Then all will come together for the day's second yoga class - a gentler, more restorative blend of soft movement, meditation and relaxation. The day ends with a delicious home cooked dinner, comprising three courses.

Food is vegetarian, locally sourced and organic where possible; often, and where possible, the fruit and vegetables are sourced from the villa owner's gardens. It may be possible to request fish (from the surrounding waters), but dining will be meat-free by default.

The cook for the week - a family member of the villa owners' - spent many years as a chef at a restaurant he owned and ran. Satvada Retreats hopes you will agree the taste, presentation, love and care poured into the cooking, twinned with the freshness of the raw ingredients, makes for a wonderful dining experience!

  • Go visit the stunning city of Split, an hour's ferry ride away
  • Optional walk to the monastery (approximately 45 - 60 minutes walk in either direction)

  • Visit Bol - famous for its stunning beach
  • Walking into Supetar
