Sanctuary Hill provides shared accommodation, with two or three guest per room. The maximum number for the groups are 10 guests.

The modern luxury bedrooms are equipped with 100% cotton linen ant towels. They also have an option for couples to be accommodated in a king size bedroom.

Sanctuary Hill invites the guests to unwind: take a walk, explore the property, read a book from the library, journal, connect with nature and wildlife, and relax in the hot tub.

Programme

The purpose of practicing mantras and sound is to:

  • Create a protective vibration around yourself
  • Purify yourself and enlighten your mind
  • Empower yourself with material and spiritual benefits to further your spiritual practice

The powerful natural setting of Sanctuary Hill inspires and deepens your sense of place and helps you to go deeper into the practices.

This retreat is open and suitable for people of any level of yogic experience.

Yoga

All activities in the program are included and the opportunity to attend all of the yoga and meditation sessions. The schedule is designed to include two yoga classes a day, apart from Friday which will only include one yoga class after your arrival.

Morning classes are intended to be with more movement to start that day and warm up. The evening classes are a Restorative style to prepare you for a good night sleep.

They specialize on traditional Hatha and Restorative styles. Beginners to yoga will get an introduction to yoga postures, breathing practices, and relaxation techniques; while the more experienced will be guided in how to deepen their practice.

They feel dedicated to your personal evolution. The team of wellness experts provides workshops and education to help you achieve your health related goals. The guest speakers and lifestyle mentors support deep inner work to facilitate lasting and real change on your mindset and perspective toward healthy living. Learn more about quality sleep, stress management, healthy eating habits and food choices to take home knowledge that sustains your well-being.

Workshops

During this retreat, you will practice kirtan meditation which is chanting of mantras to achieve a state of single pointed focus.

On Saturday, the mantra workshop will provide each individual with a comprehensive introduction to the power and practices of sound, mantra, and voice. You will talk about the nature and power of sound and mantra, drawing from yoga philosophy, mystic traditions, and science. You will also cover the meaning and experience of mantras.

On Sunday, you will have a mandala workshop. In many spiritual practices, a mandala represents the entire universe and/or a symbol that stands for an effort to reunify the self. This workshop is a supportive tool for meditation by allowing clear and vivid visuals while occupying the motor skills. You will take the artists step-by-step, creating beautiful mandalas. This technique is from the Ancient Indians from Mexico, woven on criss-cross sticks to create a centre with four points that represend Earth, Water, Air, and Fire.

This retreat has an optional additional service of a massage or Reiki session. These will be scheduled during the time of booking or before your arrival.

Excursions

Walking trails

Sanctuary Hill is surrounded by the lush greenery of the Taranaki region. During this retreat, you can walk around the property to enjoy the views of Mt. Taranaki, listen to the birds of the region, walk through the orchard, and visit the different areas around the property. If you are feeling more invited to rest back and enjoy the view, you can relax in the various outdoor areas to bask in nature.

New Plymouth is the major city of the Taranaki Region on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand.

Notable features are the botanic gardens (i.e. Pukekura Park), the critically acclaimed Len Lye Centre and Art Gallery, the 11 kilometers (6.8 miles) Coastal Walkway alongside the Tasman Sea, the Len Lye-designed artwork known as the Wind Wand, Paritutu Rock, and views of Mount Taranaki/Egmont.
