Hébergement

Accommodation is provided in beautifully furnished 5-metre bell tents. Nestled amongst the lemon and orange groves, the bell tents are simple but sumptuous, with electricity and comfortable beds. Each tent can sleep up to three people. Crisp bed linen and pool towels are provided. There are solar hot and cold powered showers facilities. Internet access is available. There is a small shop on site for all those little essentials you might need.

Styles of yoga to be taught:

On this retreat, there will be balance of a traditional Ashtanga Modified Primary Series and Vinyasa Flow connecting breath to movement, finding enjoyment, happiness, playfulness in your practice. Learning different ways to move and meditate resulting in feeling happiness, peace and joy. As someone wise once said, “Smile, it’s your birthright!”

Donna loves to share Vinyasa flows with a twist, a yoga/dance fusion looking at different ways to move, variations of postures and focusing on linking postures seamlessly to transform your practice, never stopping the flow. Everyone can do yoga, everyone can meditate, it is all about finding the right tools, postures and styles that work best for you. Through the retreat you will look at different aspects of pranayama, meditation, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, mindful movement, chakras, dancing and lots of smiling so that you can take these tools away with you and access them whenever and wherever you want. You can do as little or as much as you wish, the focus being you, your retreat!

Morning practice will be Ashtanga based, a traditional sequence which we will work through and tailor to you. This is an energetic, strong way to start the day flowing through the sequence mindfully, a moving meditation. It combines sun salutations, standing postures, floor flows and meditation to set us up for the day.

Afternoon classes will be playful, lots of variations accessible to all levels and a different flow each day. The Vinyasa Flows will be full of smiles, laughs and looking at not taking things too seriously, letting go and being grateful for what we have.

Your Rustic Retreats Journey

Classes will be balanced between a quite serious meditation, based on the traditional Ashtanga Method and a playful meditation using the Vinyasa Flow style. The workshops are based on Donna's perspective about yoga, so you are going to understand what is yoga and its different styles so you can figure out which one fits you better.

The dynamic meditation. Removing that concept that meditation has to be in a still and serious position, you are going to Donna's roots in the dance and pilates field, to understand some misconceptions and maybe understand her style of teaching, as yoga is not only connection but can be an expression of art, the art within each of us. The importance of breathing to our mental and physical health and the most important thing: connect to ourselves, respecting and learning to have gratitude to be who we are.

There is one workshop a day, it may be in the morning or afternoon. There is also the option to visit local markets on Wednesday and Sunday.

Workshop

The meaning of yoga and its benefits to everybody

We will explore what yoga means to us, the different styles of yoga and finding YOUR yoga, the yoga that you connect with. We will also look at the meaning of Ashtanga in more depth, finding our way through the 8 limbs of this classical yoga style. The 8 limbs are a great way to understand about our yoga practice and ourselves. We will research into yamas, niyama’s, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, and samadhi.

Chakra Shake Down

Learning to mindfully move from our chakras. Grounding from our root, passion through the sacral, fire and intuition up through the solar plexus, feeling the compassion through the heart, creativity in the throat, our psychic ability through our third eye and complete connection out through the crown chakra. This is a practical workshop dancing our way up the body, feeling great and just being in the moment. This is accessible to all levels and abilities and is about letting your hair down and moving through an uplifting, awakening flow.

Meditation - Find your own way

In this workshop we will explore different meditation techniques in more depth, looking at their benefits. Looking at what meditation is and removing any fear we may have about it, giving you the tools to access meditation in your daily life. We will look at being present, living in the moment and controlling our thoughts, not letting them control us. Whether it is silent, focusing on an object, mindful walking, visualisation, calming breathing there are lots of ways to transform your mind and develop clarity, positivity and concentration.

Yoga / Dance Fusion

This is an energetic, awakening flow using a combination of yoga and dance to mindfully move, shift, be creative, fluid in our practice. We will look at the transitions between postures, a part of our practice we often forget about and break our flow. You will learn a feel-good yoga/dance sequence which you can take home with you full of fun, smiles and feel good vibes.

Pranayama and the importance of breathing

This workshop looks at what pranayama is and the different techniques you can use to heighten your practice, benefit your everyday lives and enhance your well- being. Pranayama will teach you how to breathe consciously, correctly and efficiently and will help to calm your mind, expand your cardio-vascular fitness and can, with patient practice, help the symptoms of asthma and other respiratory disorders. Pranayama is both enjoyable and beneficial to your wellbeing and practiced regularly leaves you feeling calm but energized. We will move through a short asana practice to still the mind in preparation for our pranayama.

Professeurs

Donna Unwin
Donna's first experience with yoga was when she was training as a professional dancer. She qualified as an Ashtanga-Vinyasa teacher after studying at Sampoorna Yoga in Goa two years ago after teaching and performing dance for over ten years. She has been teaching in different places in England ever since. She teaches a variety of styles: vinyasa flow, ashtanga, yin yang flows, but her passion is a fusion of Ashtanga Vinyasa. She likes how creative and free she can be with the flows and like to explore different ways to move and shift the postures.

This beautiful site has so much to offer to so many, they have an organic vegetable garden, fresh mountain spring water, solar power throughout, a beautiful swimming pool, earth-bag dome, stunning yoga platform on the side of the mountain, hammocks, orange and lemon trees, a tailor made pinewood meditation / relaxation cabin with views across the valley, outdoor showers so you can shower under the stars, and so much more. Totally off grid, zero light pollution. Stunning surroundings, beautiful, and simple accommodation are part of the Rustic Retreats charming environment.

Repas

Stimulate all your senses whilst you absorb the bright colors, beautiful textures, tantalizing flavors, and sublime aromas of the fresh food served at Rustic Retreats. The chef will create a myriad of fresh, healthy vegetarian meals to tantalize your pallet, all using the ripest, freshest, seasonal ingredients that are locally produced either from their very own organic garden and vegetable patch or from the local market and farmers.

Varieties of fruit are growing freely on the site such as lemons, oranges, almonds, pomegranate, and carob to name but a few. All vegetarian meals are lovingly prepared by a trained chef in the outdoor kitchen and are served 'al fresco' whenever possible. All meals are included in the price. The meals have been so popular with the clients that they are looking at producing a recipe book for next season.

Example menu:

  • Start the day with a fruit smoothie or refreshing mint tea.
  • Breakfast baby spinach omelet, cereals, fruit and French toast.
  • Lunch bell pepper frittata, bean and yogurt salad, and pumpkin bread.
  • Evening meal squash and zucchini casserole with wild rice and lemon tart.

Exclusions

  • All day snack menu is available but cost is not included in the price. Alcohol is available at a small extra charge.
