Take a life changing pilgrimage to the shores of the Bay of Bengal and the spiritual home of the international Purna Yoga College. If you want to start a new year with a proven framework for living a better life, to deepen your already existing practice, and to learn to teach with safety, compassion and power then, this retreat is for you. This is a Yoga Alliance certified training in which you can receive the thorough, detailed, and precise yogic education.
You will be accommodated at Quiet Healing Center. It is a beautiful seven-acre beachfront compound approximately five kilometers north of Puducherry (formerly known as Pondicherry). It is an Auroville's natural healing facility with superb views on the Indian Ocean.
In the mid 1980's, Maggi became inspired to help to realize the vision of this place to be a hospital of love as it has a powerful healing energies and would be an ideal spot for a healing center. Funds were raised, the land was acquired for Auroville and construction began.
The Quiet Healing Center opened its doors in February 1997, and has been a growing wellness centre ever since. As a service unit under the Health and Healing Trust, Auroville Foundation, the Quiet Healing Center offers a wide range of natural treatments and a variety of aquatic bodywork, massage, and health related courses and workshops to guests and Auroville residents.
The center has a dedicated staff of about 30 Aurovilians and employs 20 villagers from the local area, of which most of them have been with Quiet Healing Center for many years. Healing work at Quiet Healing Center is based on the understanding that the human being is first and foremost a spiritual being seeking to express its true self through its mental, emotional, and physical bodies.
Each therapy and therapist honors and strives to work in harmony with the body's own deep wisdom, and recognizing the inner spirit as ultimately the only healer. There are rooms available on the basis of single, double, and triple occupancy. All guest rooms are spacious, aesthetically pleasing, comfortably designed, and meticulously maintained.
Some offer dramatic sea views, while others look out on Quiet's pleasant gardens. There is a free Wi-Fi available in the watchman's place at the entrance. All garden rooms and first floor rooms facing the ocean have air conditioning as an option.
There are chances that schedule will change slightly as it is finalized, but the fundamentals will remain the same. You will have two four-hour sessions each day, with one and a half days off each week.
There are excursions to Matrimandir, Auroville, and the Sri Aurobindo ashram, with time for personal excursions to local sites on your days off.
An architectural marvel and the central attraction of Auroville, the Matrimandir represents the universal mother or the divine consciousness. It is a temple for silent contemplation, which took 38 years to build. It consists of a golden globe with four massive pillars for support.
There are 12 rooms inside the Matrimandir which represent the 12 virtues of the mother. The 12 gardens around the amphitheatre represent the 12 powers of the universal mother. The outer layer of the globe is gold plated, with a giant crystal at the top through which sunlight falls inside.
Sri Aurobindo was an Indian nationalist, philosopher, yogi, guru, and poet. He joined the Indian movement for independence from British rule. For a while, he was one of the influential leaders in the freedom fight, and then became a spiritual reformer by introducing his visions on human progress and spiritual evolution.
The central theme of his vision was the evolution of human life into a life divine. He believed in a spiritual realization that not only liberated man but transformed his nature, enabling a divine life on earth. The ashram community consists of more than 2000 people.
It is not a quiet place of retreat but a vibrant center of life in a modern urban setting. The dynamic character of the community reflects the life affirming aim of Sri Aurobindo's yoga.
Auroville is a universal town where men and women of all countries seek to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics, and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity.

Quiet's kitchen prepares three delicious meals daily, offered in a pleasant atmosphere. All meals are served in a buffet style. The menu is vegetarian and includes a variety of dishes to satisfy Western and Indian tastes.
On your days off, you can explore the modern city of Pondicherry and enjoy it's French heritage. You can visit Arulmigu Manakula Vinayagar Temple, stroll the seaside promenade, or visit Paradise beach. You can also relax with one of Quiet's spa treatments and some time in a hammock, watching the waves roll in.
