The accommodation is rustic in style yet spacious and comfortable. The cabins at Four Springs Retreat offer privacy and serenity in a beautiful mountain forest setting. Five cabins have a private bathroom, a bedroom with full-sized bed, and a living room. Furthermore, there are also two duplex cabins with two separate rooms (on both sides of the cottage) with two twin beds in the room and a separate shared bathroom in the middle.

All cabins have heating and some have air conditioning. Four Springs Retreat doesn’t have televisions in every room to invite you to enjoy quiet reflection and the silence of your being. However. Four Springs Retreat does have a DVD player and a small library of spiritual with selected mainstream movies. In addition, you can drink and bath in pure spring water, which comes from local springs on the property. It’s sanitized for your safety with UV purification system.


Holistic healing programs

The personal healing program will include small group sessions, individual healing therapy sessions, and plenty of time to be alone in nature. Pura Vida Wellness Retreat will provide an integrated approach to support your healing and personal growth by integrating four basic modules of healing - body, mind, spirit, and shadow.

  • Body: Cleansing diet or juice fast, yoga, Qigong, conscious dance practice, nature hikes, and lots of rest and relaxation
  • Mind: Inspirational and educational classes, books and films, group and individual inquiry, as well as transforming negative thoughts patterns
  • Spirit: Meditation, self-inquiry, and mindfulness practices
  • Shadow: Thought and behavioral patterns that aren't usually seen - most of them hidden in the subconscious mind. Through the breathwork, counseling, emotional healing, and spiritual life coaching, Pura Vida Wellness Retreat will transform unconscious negative beliefs and patterns of behavior by a conscious meeting of often suppressed emotions and automatic reactions.

Juice fast, cleanse, and detox

The program will include daily three green vegetable juices, an option of protein shake / citrus juice, cleansing spice and herbal teas, daily liquid multivitamins and minerals, optional hot or raw soup and chia seeds pudding, an option of fresh fruits, and juice cleanse preparation class. In order to receive more benefits from your cleanse, you should be eliminating acidic foods like processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, sugar, meat, dairy, and wheat from your diet at least two to three days before the retreat. You should eat more alkaline, whole foods such as vegetables, fruits, almonds, quinoa, and red rice.

You also have to drink plenty of fresh water at least eight glasses a day. If you would like to split up your retreat and do half-fasting and half-eating, Pura Vida Wellness Retreat can arrange that. It is best to schedule this in advance. Pura Vida Wellness Retreat will serve five large glasses of juice a day, liquid supplements, unlimited tea, and water. Most people feel quite full and do not get hungry and feel lighter with more energy then when eating since the digestive process normally consumes a lot of energy.

Some people, on the first or second day, have a temporary sense of hunger because the organism is conditioned to want food and have a full feeling in the belly. This usually passes quickly. If you need extra nourishment, Pura Vida Wellness Retreat can add blended raw green soups and miso broth. Pura Vida Wellness Retreat will help you to come off of your fast with an hour or so meeting to look at your diet and nutritional needs, how to come off your fast slowly, what foods to eat, etc. with time for questions and answers. Pura Vida Wellness Retreat will also provide you with a booklet including a list of resources and information to support you in continuing healthy habits in your daily life.

Healing health and wellness retreat

You will rejuvenate and revitalize. You will also enjoy an alternative, integrated healing and support to improve the state of your health through raw foods, juice cleanse, nutritional consultation, food preparation classes. You will get an emotional support to reverse effects of negative, subconscious patterns in creating the state of disease, alternative prevention and healing of cancer, diabetes, hormonal imbalance and others.

Healing grief and loss retreat

You will have an emotional counseling to grieve and to heal core sense of separation.

Couples and relationship healing retreat

You will learn and practice compassionate communication skills, transform negative reaction patterns, heal passive / aggressive behaviors, process and heal emotional issues, and learn basic Tantric and Taoist practices.

Meditation retreat

You will practice individual and group meditation sessions for all levels - beginners to advanced - silent and guided meditations, self-inquiry, scheduled silent times (half a day or longer), group and personal sessions, conscious movement meditations and mindfulness practices like yoga, Qigong, and meditative walks.

Spiritual growth / awakening retreat

Clarity breathwork

Clarity breathwork is a profound tool for transformation and healing on all levels of body, mind, and spirit. It uses the ancient practice of circular connected breathing that has been used in cultures around the world for healing and attaining higher states of consciousness for thousands of years.

Breathwork is one of the purest and most effective techniques to release stress and tension, heal and resolve trauma, and awaken you to your true “being”. Clarity breathwork is a safe and effective method which supports you to access your own internal healing energy and greater knowing. From this place, you can experience a powerful shift in yourself and your life experience. Through clarity breathwork, many people have experienced:

Foot reflexology

Foot reflexology is a holistic energy-based modality that improves nerve, blood, and lymphatic supply to the entire body by pressing reflex areas on the feet. These areas and acupressure points correspond to all vital organs of the body. It is beneficial for stress relief, improved circulation, and removal blockages of life force or chi (qi) to enable healing flow.


Reiki is Japanese for vital life force energy. As a healing modality, it is a transmission of spiritually guided subtle energy that balances body, mind, and spirit through clearing energetic blockages. The effect of Reiki is deeply relaxing and soothing, allowing the recipient to reconnect with one’s essential nature. It promotes healing and pain relief on many levels, especially the issues of stress, anxiety, addictions, weight loss, depression, fear, and grief. The treatment is received fully clothed through gentle hands-on placements of the practitioner. The energy flows wherever required and is usually felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body, leaving a wonderful glowing radiance within.

Watsu / water dance / healing dance

Watsu is a gentle form of body therapy performed in warm water (around 35 degrees Celsius.) It combines elements of massage, joint mobilization, shiatsu, muscle stretching, and dance. The receiver is continuously supported while being floated, cradled, rocked, and stretched. The deeply relaxing effects of warm water and nurturing support will combine with Watsu’s movements, stretches, massage, and point work to create a bodywork with a range of therapeutic benefits and potential healing on many levels.

Moments of stillness alternate with rhythmical flowing movements which free the body in ways impossible on land. The warm water relaxes the muscles and supports the spine. With this support and without the weight of the body, the spine, joints, and muscles can be manipulated and freed in a way unique to water work. The effects include a very gentle yet deep stretching and a release of muscular and joint restrictions, along with a state of deep relaxation which encourages the release of stress and tensions.

Anjay Skwira
Anjay Skwira is a director of Pura Vida Eco Retreat and Sacred Springs Retreat. He is a spiritual life coach, yoga and meditation teacher, clarity breathwork practitioner / trainer, and aquatic bodyworker with extensive training and certifications in Watsu, WaterDance, healing dance, as well as Esalen, Thai, Swedish, Tantsu, self-healing, movement education, Anahatha yoga, Integrative and Yin yoga, and Taoist qigong. His main passion is to live an awakened life and to share it with others. He enjoys in-depth studies and practices of self-inquiry and meditation as a path of liberation.
Ann West
Dr. Ann West is a seasoned relationship coach, holding over 20 years of experience assisting families, couples, and individuals. Dr. West teaches non-violent communication, in addition to coaching individuals in relationship breakdowns towards breakthroughs. She is also a third degree Usui Reiki master, holotropic breathwork facilitator, Theta healing practitioner, and life coach. For the past 20 years, Dr. West has taught meditation and more advanced techniques such as trauma release to help clients recover from childhood traumas, deep emotional wounds, and extreme loss.

The place is just 1 hour 45 minutes north of San Francisco (without traffic), 20 minutes north of Calistoga, and two hours from Sacramento. Four Springs Retreat is on 280 forested mountain land with many hiking trails and nature walks with beautiful views of the mountains. It also has many beautiful hiking trails within a short drive including gorgeous waterfalls and Mount Table Rock where you can see expansive views over the Calistoga Valley. Harbin Hot Springs also has many wonderful hikes.

Arrival by shuttle

You may take a shuttle to Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) which is just north of Santa Rosa. It costs 34 USD one way. The shuttle leaves every hour and Pura Vida Wellness Retreat will pick you up and when your retreat ends, they will drop you off at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) for 50 USD each way.
