The Manor House of the Pädaste estate has undergone an extensive restoration, bringing back the dignity and nobility the house had held for centuries. This exquisite Manor House, set in idyllic Baltic seaside parkland, had been left totally untouched for decades. In the course of the last fifteen years, it has been saved from dereliction and slowly re-awakened, culminating in a final two-year restoration project completed in June 2008. The origins of the manor go back to the 14th century with some of those ancient walls now at the very heart of the Manor. In the latter part of the 19th century, the house was enlarged considerably and given a new façade, hence the harmonious dimensions and clean lines which give the Manor its character today.

The 14 rooms in the Manor House are beautifully appointed with luxuriant fabrics, unobtrusive state-of-the-art technology, and wonderful attention to detail. The beds are sumptuous and you’ll walk on warm wooden floors - you will love them. All the superior junior suites and the grand suite have wood-burning fireplaces stocked up daily with fresh baskets of firewood. There is a personal streaming audio system with virtually thousands of titles available at your fingertips. Views over the parklands and the shores of the Baltic Sea are spectacular and unique. Extra day pillows invite you to rest, relax, and daydream.

The Manor House offers accommodation in three deluxe doubles, seven superior doubles, three superior junior suites, and the grand suite:

  • Elegant, well-appointed bathrooms with a large bathtub, separate rainwater shower, WC, and hairdryer
  • iPad for your personal use during your stay
  • Direct-dial telephone
  • Wireless Sonos audio controller with access to thousands of titles and internet radio
  • Bose Acoustimass speaker system
  • Complimentary wireless and wired internet access for your laptop
  • Internet access on your TV screen
  • Minibar
  • Complimentary still water
  • Linen bathrobes and slippers
  • Superior junior suites feature a wood-burning fireplace

Should you enjoy reading poetry under the stars, it is suggested to request room 15, the superior double with a Poetry Loft. You may climb a farmer's ladder to the tiny mezzanine which is crammed with a fine collection of poetry. A small window opens up to the sky while you retreat in your club chair. All rooms and suites in the Manor House are non-smoking.

In-room entertainment

Guests are presented with a personal in-room iPad upon check-in for their enjoyment. It speaks for itself that all rooms and suites at Pädaste Manor are equipped with satellite TV and complimentary Wi-Fi. Your in-room iPad controls the Sonos audio system in your room which provides access to more than 20,000 music titles from our library and to any internet radio station of your choice. With three moves of your fingertips, you can create your own playlist and set the mood for your very own In-room entertainment. Please insert a Bluray disc into the concealed PS player and enjoy a true High Definition movie experience in the privacy of your room.

The rooms and suites in the Manor House offer the ‘nonplus ultra’ in In-room-entertainment with all equipment concealed. Smartly hidden from view, the TV appears at the touch of a button. All rooms and suites in the Manor House are fitted with a Bose Acoustimass sound system, widely known to be top-of-the-range equipment, and provide truly amazing sound quality.

Padaste Manor has concealed all this state-of-the-art technology from view because they do not want the guests to be distracted from the extraordinary and simple beauty of Muhu Island after all these are unique wonders to enjoy during a stay at Pädaste Manor. However, it’s all there for you to enjoy whenever you please. Should you choose to forego the in-room entertainment system altogether, you may leave Pädaste Manor without knowing that it was at your fingertips all along.

Lieu du séjour

Pädaste Manor is idyllically located at Pädaste bay on Muhu Island in the Baltic Sea, just off the coast of Western Estonia. Muhu Island is a comfortable two-hour drive from the capital Tallinn. Five 19th Century ironstone buildings join the stately Manor in a horseshoe shape, opening up to the Baltic Sea. The Manor ensemble is set amidst a seven-hectare landscaped park surrounded by 22 hectares of meadows and forests. The estate is surrounded by centuries-old ironstone walls, partly overgrown with moss.

The shoreline gives way to astonishing views of the bay with its islets and untouched coastland. A variety of grasses, ferns, wildflowers, berries, brushes, orchids, pine, birch, and the ‘national’ tree the juniper paint the landscape of Pädaste Bay. The park and shoreline form part of a nature protection zone which is well-known for its biodiversity. It is the natural habitat of 23 species of rare orchids. Birdlife is of particular interest since Pädaste bay is a favorite stopover location for migratory birds such as geese, cranes, ducks, and swans.

Three breeding couples of the rare and majestic sea eagle nest nearby, the nightingale take center stage in the evenings of early June. The park is home to owls, woodpeckers, nesting swallows, tree-nesting ducks, squirrels, and bats. Deer, wild boar, and moose inhabit the surrounding forest. They occasionally can be seen crossing into the park, especially during cold winters.

Repas

You will get a welcome with a glass of sparkling wine and a selection of Pädaste Gourmet goodies in your room. Also, you will enjoy two-course Table d’Hote lunch, an en-route picnic or lunch at a local horse breeding farm, and three four-course Table d’Hote dinners in Alexander Restaurant.

Alexander Restaurant

Alexander Restaurant occupies the most prominent space on the ground floor of the Manor House. The gloriously proportioned, elegant room with high ceilings opens into a spectacular winter garden and offers sweeping views over the park with its ancient trees.

Chef de Cuisine and his team at Alexander are proud to serve innovative Nordic Islands’ Cuisine, respecting the seasons and making maximum use of fresh local ingredients by working with the island’s producers and farmers while many of the greens and herbs are grown in Pädaste`s own gardens and greenhouses. Pädaste Manor offers an arresting culinary combination of urban sophistication and wholesome countryside traditions.

Dietary concern

It is the pride of the kitchen team to create an excellent menu based on the produce of the day. Should you have any dietary requirements, please advise 24 hours ahead and Pädaste Manor shall be delighted to provide alternatives.

The bar

The hugely comfortable and beautifully appointed bar at the Manor House serves aperitifs, cocktails, and refreshments daily from 5 p.m. onwards. The special Dry Martinis and Cranberry Daiquiris are legendary and highly recommended. The Bar also welcomes guests during the day for tea, coffee, and refreshment from 9 a.m. onwards.

While you enjoy the atmosphere, please do take note of the fine examples of over 150-year-old wall stamps which have been preserved in the bar area, most appropriately they are depicting vines and grapes.

The cellar

The vaulted wine cellar in the Manor House dates back to the 14th century when the initial foundations for the house were laid. Once upon a time, the cellar was a storage area for fresh produce of the estate - now it is climate controlled and well-stocked with well over 200 selected bins of fine wines.

The vaulted wine tasting room - adjacent to the wine cellar - is available for wine tasting and private dinners. The sommelier will be delighted to take you on a tour around the cellar.

Pädaste Yacht Club

The lunch venue - The Pädaste Yacht Club serves casual cuisine for lunch, a nice contrast to the elegant Nordic Islands’ Cuisine offered in the evenings at Alexander Restaurant. Unpretentious and proud of simplicity, the Pädaste Yacht Club offers a leisurely lunch in a laid-back atmosphere with gorgeous views of the manor and sea you would expect in Southern Europe.

Pädaste Yacht Club will open its doors for this season from 23 June till 3 September 2023 from Monday to Sunday between 12 noon and 6 p.m. with the last order at 5.30 p.m. During the period when Pädaste Yacht Club is closed, lunch is served at Pädaste’s Winter Garden between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
