Hébergement

You will be accommodated at the Marine Reserved Apartments in Whangamata. You will be able to choose from a private single room or a shared double or twin room.

Programme

During this retreat, you will enjoy daily runs that range from 10 to 15 kilometers, mostly on trails. You will also enjoy breaks to drink water and indulge in snacks. Two guides will accompany the group to support the different paces, so there is no pressure to run faster than you are comfortable with.

Trail running experience is not necessary. Your retreat leader will provide trail-running tips for running in this terrain. You will encounter trails with loose rocks, roots, and some exposure to heights. You can walk or hike trail sections as you need. Trail running shoes are highly recommended for a better grip and a more comfortable travel.

Day 1

The retreat will start with a meeting and greeting session at Paeroa, over a wholesome morning tea at the Refinery. You will then kick off trail running with the Wentworth or Whangamata track, a stunning bush trail in the Coromandel Range. The trail is approximately 10 kilometers long and it will take you about two or two hours and a half to finish it. You will be picked up from the end of the trail and head into Whangamata for a delicious healthy lunch.

You will then leave towards the modern beach view accommodation at the Marine Reserved Apartments. You will have time to relax on the beach, enjoy an invigorating swim, or spend some time writing and reflecting. You can choose to schedule your massage for the end of day one or day two. After an inspiring goal setting session, you will enjoy dinner with the group at the award-winning Argo Restaurant.

Day 2

You will be awakened with a ‘yoga for runners’ session followed by a delicious wholefood breakfast. You will then head inland and back out onto the beautiful bush trails of the Coromandel, in the Hikuai region. The chosen trail will depend on the abilities of the group, the state of the tracks, and the weather. There are many fabulous trails to choose from and the distance will likely range between 10 and 15 kilometers.

A rejuvenating massage and a swim in the ocean will be waiting for you back in Whangamata. The evening workshop will be tailored to one of the following: running techniques, nutrition, training tips and ideas, and race tips. You will complete your evening with a shared dinner at a Mediterranean style restaurant.

Day 3

The last day of the retreat will start with a yoga session on the beach to stretch, realign, and invigorate your body. You will share a delicious and well-earned brunch with the group, before making your way back to the Karangahake Gorge for your final trail run. You can choose the level of intensity of the trail you would like to take on. The focus is on the simple joy and adventure of running for your own health and happiness.

Before the final wrap and farewells, you will end the session by defining your goals regarding running and other areas of your life.

Excursions

You will enjoy daily guided runs in the beautiful area of Coromandel, New Zealand. In the first day of the retreat, you will enjoy a run on the Wentworth or Whangamata track. On the second day, you will enjoy another lovely bush trail run that will depend on the abilities of the group, the state of the tracks, and the weather. On your last day, you will enjoy a final run focusing on the joy and adventure of this sport.
