Nectar Yoga B&B has two cottages (Forest Cottage and Nectar Loft), a garden suite, a geodesic yoga dome, and a Finnish sauna. The accommodation can sleep 10 people in total, shared by two or three guests per sleeping area. Nectar Yoga does not allow pets in their cottages because many of the guests have allergies and cannot stay in a cottage that allows pets. Nectar Yoga also prides themselves in keeping the environment clean and use only natural cleaning products, soaps, and shampoos.

Nestled among beautiful trees and a short walk from the ocean, Nectar Yoga B&B offers a beautiful setting in which to rest, grow, and restore. Unwind in the relaxing wood burning Finnish sauna for up to three people, walk on nearby trails, or allow the sound of ocean waves to rejuvenate you. You can also be pampered with Nectar Yoga B&B’s in-room massage service which is a perfect addition to your yoga getaway. The massage therapist Rie will ensure you leave tension free!

This retreat starts on October 27 at 14:00 and ends on October 29, 2017, at 14:00. You will experience personal growth as you learn a new way to interact with yourself and the world around you. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings and ocean access, unwind in the Finnish sauna, and find quiet space on wooded trails.

This weekend is about you, about owning and embracing your story. The hope is that you will receive just what your soul needs, that you will be filled during your time together and upon your return home. Nectar Yoga wants you to feel free to hit the pause button and find quiet space for yourself if your soul is craving that during your time together, to join in all actives on offer or to take a break if you need to, to feel loved, supported, and nourished as well as to be yourself on the inside and outside.

Connection

It is believed that connection matters to others, to oneself, to God. You were created for it, and with it, you thrive. Brené Brown defines connection as the energy that exists between you when you feel seen, heard, and valued, when you can give and receive without judgment and when you derive sustenance and strength from the relationship. A weekend spent in retreat with Nectar Yoga is designed to grow and nourish connection in your life.

Living in freedom

It is believed that you were created to live in true freedom. The word has much to say about living in the freedom of Christ and yet it seems that you are living bound by your shame. Why is this? How can it be?

It is believed that if you invite God into this growth journey with you, you will become more and more who you were truly created to be. As you learn about shame and how it shows up in your everyday walking around lives, as you gain the tools you need to build shame resilience when you learn that your story is God's story and invite God into your learning process. This is where freedom takes root and becomes a beautiful way of living.

Wholehearted living

It is believed that living a rich life means living with your whole heart, living in courage, compassion, connection, gratitude, joy, and faith. Practice vulnerability and be gentle with yourself and others. Be secure in your identity and accept yourself and your story. Rise when you fall. While living wholeheartedly isn't always easy, you can honestly say that you do your best, embrace grace, and have experienced enrichment in your life because of it. Nectar Yoga supports you in your journey.

A thread of faith

It is believed that God is love. That He is always on your side and cheers for you as you journey through this thing called life. A thread of faith is woven through your life and you wouldn't be who you are without it. The hope is that as faith is woven through a retreat weekend with you, you would experience God's love and grace in your journey.

Personal growth

It is believed that personal growth is always time well spent. Sometimes, the best things in life take a little work. Diving deep into life by committing to personal growth can be challenging but is always worth it. You seek to support yourself in that process (as you continue in your own growth) by listening, teaching, encouraging, and providing practical tools to apply in your daily life. The hope is that you leave a weekend spent in retreat with Nectar Yoga equipped with a new way to interact with yourself and the world around you.

It is believed that your soul, that deepest part of your being, needs restoration, nourishment, and care. That caring for the soul also requires caring for the body and mind. The three are inextricably linked. You seek to provide care for every part of you as you listen and teach together as you move your body and fill them with life-giving breath, as you share in story and healing, as you spend time in the beauty of creation, and as you gather in a community around nourishing food.

Rising strong in your own life

Dive deep into the practice of wholehearted living by learning to apply the work of Dr. Brené Brown in your own life. As Byrdie leads you through daily growth sessions based on the rising strong curriculum in a small group setting, you will experience the opportunity to reflect, connect with yourself and others, and process those truths which resonate deeply with you.

Daily yoga sessions

Come to your mat twice daily in the amazing yoga dome to find movement, release, playfulness, and stillness. Appropriate for all levels and all bodies, sessions led by Heather will leave you rejuvenated. In addition to breath work, meditation, and traditional Hatha and Yin yoga poses, Heather will weave a thread of faith through each session.

    Heather loves connecting with people and seeing them live their best lives. She fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian in 2004, but after a time began to realize that her work was impacting her life in a very unhealthy way. During that season of confusion and change, she found great strength in her faith, a place of quiet peace and solitude on her yoga mat, and practical life-altering wisdom in the writings of Brené Brown. She became a registered yoga teacher in January 2016.

    Byrdie has a huge love for people and the stories they carry within them. In her own life journey, she has seen the power of shame, resilience and vulnerability, and their impact on her story. The work of Dr. Brené Brown resonates strongly with Byrdie. She has become a certified Daring WayTM facilitator in 2012. She is excited to help others live their best lives by sharing the concepts of vulnerability, empathy, courage, connection, and compassion.

Bowen Island is a short ferry ride from the mainland but arrival on the island instantly makes you feel as if you've hit the pause button on life. Bowen Island is a forested island of 52-square kilometers / 20-square miles.

Driving direction from Horseshoe Bay route

  • Follow Highway 1 West (Trans Canada Highway). The signs will lead you to Horseshoe Bay which is about 15 minutes' drive from the Lions Gate Bridge in West Vancouver (traffic depending).
  • You will arrive at the Horseshoe Bay B.C. Ferries Terminal. The ferry ride is 20 to 25 minutes through picturesque Howe Sound.
  • If you are driving onto the ferry, you will arrive at Snug Cove ferry terminal on Bowen Island.
  • Once off the ferry, you will be on Miller Road.
  • Follow Miller Road up the hill. Miller Road veers Right at the top of the hill, stay on Miller Road to the Right.
  • Follow Miller Road for 4 minutes. The ending address is 1258 Miller Road.

Arrival by bus

Align your bus trip time the Bowen Island Ferry schedule. You can catch any of the following buses: 250, 257, and 259, all end at Horseshoe Bay. Once you arrive in Horseshoe Bay, you will walk on the ferry. When you arrive on Bowen Island, you will wait at the bus stop which is directly outside of the ferry terminal. You will get on the C11 Snug Cove to Eagle Cliff bus. Tell the driver you are getting off at 1258 Miller Road.

Arrival by ferry / boat

The walk-on ferry is located at the west end of Granville Island. As you enter Granville Island, make a left at the first road, and this will take you to a three-way stop. There, turn left and continue toward the market. Go toward the big yellow building and directly in front of you is Bridge’s Restaurant. To go to the dock, proceed down ramp marked ferry dock on the right side of Bridges Restaurant. Once at the bottom of the ramp, turn right and you are just past the False Creek Ferries.

The walk-on ferry also leaves from the Harbour Green Dock, which is at the foot of Bute Street, directly to the west of the Harbour Air Float Planes. When you arrive on Bowen Island, you will wait at the bus stop which is directly outside of the ferry terminal. You will get on the C11 Snug Cove to Eagle Cliff Bus. Tell the driver you are getting off at 1258 Miller Road.
