After travelling the world extensively, Kranti has developed his shala to combine location with the ultimate yogi comfort. The village is situated right on Patnem Beach where you’ll walk right out their back gate and be meters from the sea. You get to soak up the amazing views and calming sea breeze during your practice whether sunrise, sunset, or during the day.
The Yoga Village is decorated with twinkling lights and colorful muslin. Swinging beds, sun lounges, and a chill-out zone await your enjoyment, along with many other cozy places to take chai, study, chat, sunbathe, and enjoy your time here.
Many of these places are fitted with fans to keep you cool during the hotter months. The village has an eco-friendly solar power supply, providing hot water, and electricity throughout the day. Other facilities also include Wi-Fi, self-service washing machines, beach towels, book swap, housekeeping services, warm bedding, linen, free phone for local calls, communal fridge, and night security.
Ayurvedic, herbal, chai tea, and filtered water is available 24 hours a day. The Yoga Village is located on the beach, close to cafes, restaurants, bars. There is a small supermarket, travel agent, currency exchange, and local shopping located just outside the shala. Taxis and auto rickshaws are also available at the transport stand just outside the Shala.
It has become a tradition to appreciate your surroundings with sunset walks, meditation, and acro-yoga with your new friends. The Kranti Village is a 5000 square meters property that has access to both the beach and the roadside. Conveniently spread across two beautiful campuses, Moksha is the ocean view campus and Sattva is their tranquil garden campus.
The spacious deluxe cottages are available exclusively for guests of their school. Their options range from four shared garden cottages right through to luxurious beachfront cottages. Choose to fall asleep with the sound of crashing waves and a light sea breeze or sleep nestled among the lush greenery of cashew, coconut, and mango trees. Their cottages are purposely built for your comfort so that you can relax and focus on your learning and development.
Cottages are around 28 square meters and have their own porch, hammock, desk, and swinging chair. Comfortable mattresses, space to lock your valuables, mosquito nets, western style toilet, and shower make up some of the indoor features. During peak times, they use a sister campus located next door on Patnem Beach. The accommodation is of a similar standard and is approximately 15 meters from their gate.
Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students will receive certificate affiliated with Yoga Alliance. Registration with Yoga Alliance provides a globally recognized credential.
The Kranti Yoga teacher training course is a comprehensive Yoga Alliance approved 200-hour program that runs over three and a half weeks in the beautiful Patnem Beach, South Goa. Although intensive, the course is presented with a progressive approach to yoga. The course is a stepping stone to becoming a yoga teaching professional and the training itself will give you a solid foundation in Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow yoga.
The program is delivered in a modern, fun, relaxed environment where you will be encouraged, supported, and guided to achieve the most out of the course. You should be prepared to be mentally and physically challenged because classes vary from physically vigorous, restorative, and also thought inducing.
The program offers a strong foundation in Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow, concentrating on the correct alignment of the postures. This make up the primary series with a focus on offering modifications to suit practitioners of all levels and abilities.
The course begins with a senior teacher guiding you through the full primary series, with modifications while assistant teachers will support you ensuring correct alignment of each asana. These classes will be followed by two hours of anatomy and alignment classes where will you break down the primary series posture by posture allowing you to gain a deeper insight into how the body mechanics affect your practice.
You will have the opportunity to take notes, practice one to one with your peers with the support of your teachers. The aim is that you build on prior knowledge of anatomy whatever level that may be and leave with a greater awareness of your own body. During these classes, you will also focus on how to modify you own practice, identifying your weaknesses. The teachers will help you identify such areas and give you preparation techniques.
During week two, you will be ready to begin practicing by yourself; Mysore-style classes. The teacher will no longer lead the class, you will complete the series, together with your peers, with your own breath count and in your own time. You will be supported by your senior teacher and assistant teachers who will check alignment, help you deepen the posture, and adjust you if available. Self-practice is a great way for your teachers to help you personalize your development.
From the first moment you step onto your mat, you will be encouraged to bring awareness to your breath. In Ashtanga, the ujjayi breath initiates the movement from one posture to the next. You will learn to use the rhythm of this breath to progress through your practice. In addition, you will also learn four further pranayama techniques that will help you clear your mind, improve your lung capacity, plus a range of other mental and physical benefits.
This is an important aspect of yoga that is often overlooked but should always follow a physical practice. Tutorials will explain the theory accompanying these breathing techniques, enabling you to practice effectively during guided classes. During these classes, you will also cover kriyas (cleansing) and mudras (energy seals).
You will start to teach your peers during the first week of your training. You will instruct each other on a one-on-one basis by breaking down the fundamentals of a yoga class and then from here you will progress to writing and delivering your own class. Each session, there will be tools provided for you to develop your teaching skills, facilitating you to build your own yoga class that you will deliver during the final week.
The teaching methodology sessions include opening a class, sequencing, instructions, relaxation techniques, corrections and adjustments, and modifications. Students always find this a particularly memorable experience as the majority of them will teach for the first time. Participating in each other’s classes and providing constructive feedback for your peers is a great way to learn and this supports the ethos that learning is sharing.
Classical yoga philosophy is interwoven throughout the program and you will be introduced to Patanjalis yoga sutras, allowing you to make your own comparisons of classical and contemporary yoga, posing the question: what is yoga? These sessions are a great time for philosophical debates and indeed provide a welcome insight into the views of your fellow students.
Each yoga class will have a spiritual message that will allow you to understand how you can incorporate philosophy into practice. Hari Krishna will deliver a talk on yoga in Gita, a beloved Indian text from which many lessons can be learned.
Kranti (Tarun) Agrawal
Tarun a débuté des cours d'asanas avec Swami Vidhyanand Saraswati au Sivananda Kutir Yoga Ashram et a été formé dans les styles ashantaga, vinyasa flow, sivananda, kundalini et raja. Au cours de cette période il a aussi étudié le yoga ashtanga vinyasa au OSHO International Ashram à Pune. Il a poursuivi son entraînement au Jagan Mohan Palace à Mysore durant trois ans.
Morwenna a découvert le yoga ashtanga au cours de sa formation de danse à Londres. C'est rapidement devenu une part importante de sa vie, se développant parallèlement à sa carrière de professeur de danse et même la surpassant. Se basant sur sa formation en danse et son expérience en yoga, Morwenna offre des cours de yoga vinyasa flow comprenant des transitions créatives et dynamiques entre les séquences. Des directives imaginatives permettent à ses étudiants de mieux comprendre l'alignement de leur corps et développer une meilleure conscience de leur physique. Elle croit aussi fermement aux bienfaits de la pratique traditionnelle du yoga ashtanga.
Amelia Valls Ferrando
Amélia, originaire de Catalogne en Espagne, a complété une formation de professeur de yoga de 500 heures avec Kranti Yoga en octobre 2014. Malgré dix années d'expérience en fitness, le yoga était relativement nouveau pour elle. Mais elle est maintenant passionnée et veut aider les gens à développer un style de vie sain grâce au yoga. Avec un certificat en sport et sciences de l'exercice physique, elle a su rapidement appliquer ses connaissances en anatomie à la pratique du yoga ashtanga et en a fait sa spécialité. Elle aide quotidiennement ses étudiants à faire face et dépasser les obstacles qu'ils peuvent rencontrer.
Anna began her Ashtanga yoga journey eight years ago with Hamish Hendry while working as a performing arts teacher in London. Yoga evoked a sense of calmness in Anna and began to help relieve some of the stress she felt from working in inner city education. Anna first came to Kranti in October 2014 to marry her love of teaching and love of yoga into something she could share with everyone. At the completion of her course, Anna began a teaching job in South Goa.
Beatrix was born and raised in Montreal, Canada and she is deeply passionate about life and adventure. She first focused on pushing her physical boundaries through various trekking trips and outdoor activities, but it was the discovery of yoga at the age of 17 that brought her to explore her inner limits on a deeper level. The practice of yoga helps her to challenge herself daily, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Grace stumbled across yoga while living in Oxford six years ago and a regular practice quickly became a part of her daily lifestyle, using it as a tool for recovering from a long standing shoulder injury. Previously, Grace had been fueling her lifelong love of dance and movement by juggling part time barre concept teaching with a full time job, until she finally took the plunge and ditched the busy London corporate life in pursuit of more yoga.
This teacher training program will take place in the magical Patnem Beach, South Goa. Unlike other parts of Goa, Patnem Beach has retained its peacefulness and natural charm despite growing numbers of tourists to the area.
The closest airport is Dabolim Airport (GOI) and the journey to them is just over an hour. Patnem beach itself is lined with bars, restaurants, and beach hut accommodations. The hospitality of the Patnem locals awaits you. Choose from the many dining options that offer international cuisine from all corners of the globe, as well as traditional Goan curries, seafood specialties, and the popular vegan delights.
It is ideal for those who enjoy harmony between beach life, yoga, and relaxed dinners with friends. It is definitely a tradition to watch the phenomenal sunsets on the beach during your yoga teacher training, yogis regularly walk and run this beach and participate in light-hearted acro-yoga during the downing of the sun.
If you are looking for some evening entertainment, you are not far away from the tourist hub of Palolem. Here you will find more night-time activities, sometimes a welcome alternative to the quietness and early nights of Patnem.
Palolem is only five minutes away from the shala and can be reached by rickshaw. Alternatively, five minutes in the other direction, you will find the fabulous local location of Chaudi. Here you will find a more traditional Indian experience with local fresh food and seafood markets, chai stands, supermarket, pharmacy, and such.
Daily meals with snacks, fruits, and drinks are included in the price. In the shala, you will be served all meals throughout the day (breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner) seven days a week. Students often choose to eat out on Sunday as a treat for their day off. There are also snacks, fruits, fresh juices, coconuts, and Ayurvedic teas, herbal, chai teas, and purified water available.
All meals are served buffet-style in their outdoor dining hall giving you a range of options for you to choose from. Kranti Yoga promotes a healthy diet and the foods served are freshly prepared for you daily. They have a kitchen on site with wonderful cooks, who will delight you a large array of traditional Indian specialties combined with a blend of western favorites.
The kitchen is at your service and ready to accommodate all your dietary requirements, whatever they may be. The meals are strictly vegetarian and the kitchen is easily able to cater for vegan, lactose intolerant, gluten free, and other diets. If there is something you need or crave, they will always try to help.
If you miss a meal, the cooks will always rustle something up for you. There is never a need to be hungry. All food is sourced locally and the menu will consist of seasonal fruit and vegetables. The groceries are bought from nearby markets and stores in order to support the local community.
Outside of the shala, you will find a range of restaurants and cafes serving a host of tasty and healthy choices. You can choose from traditional Indian dishes or pick from a rich international menu that is widely available in most restaurants. The food in Patnem and neighboring Palolem is some of the finest cuisine on offer in Goa. Patnem is renowned for a high standard of hygiene.
On Saturday evening and Sundays, students often choose to go exploring to make the most of their time off classes. There are also optional local excursions available at your own costs.
Please book your flight to arrive at Goa International Airport (GOI). Transfers from and to the airport can be arranged upon request to Kranti Yoga. They use experienced local drivers for all of their pickups, they are patient in case of delays and know exactly where to drop you off (particularly helpful for overnight arrivals). Alternatively, there are set price taxis available at the counter on arrival in Goa Airport (GOI).
There are plenty of options for arrival by bus in case you want to save money or want to experience local Goan transport. You can catch a bus from KTC bus station in Margao directly to Patnem Beach. It is also possible to reach Goa by Volvo, deluxe or semi-deluxe buses from Mumbai, Pune, and Bangalore.
If you would like to arrive by train you can reach Goa by train from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kochin, Mysore, and Pune. The closest stop is Canacona which is located in Chaudi.
