At Kare Retreat, Iyengar medical yoga is conducted under the supervision of qualified and expert teachers. One-on-one yoga lessons are also conducted for persons ailing from debilitating or painful illnesses and for the very elderly.
Iyengar yoga is meant for all and is a way of life. The use of props, designed by B.K.S. Iyengar Guruji, such as wooden gadgets, belts, ropes helps the practitioner to achieve perfection in any asana. Pune Municipal Transport (PMT) buses reach every part of the city and the suburbs from the terminals at Swargate, Deccan Gymkhana, Pune station, Shivaji Nagar station, M G bus stand, Pune Corporation and Saras Baug.
The food at Kare is designed as a healing diet that gladdens the heart and nourishes the body.
According to Charaka and Sushruta, fathers of Ayurvedic medicine and surgery, "the entire world seeks food; it is the life source of all beings; clarity, longevity, intelligence, happiness, contentment, strength and knowledge are all rooted in food".
The body needs different types of nutrients that perform various functions. The body gets these nutrients from the vast variety of foods available according to age, sex, physical activity, physiological conditioning, and one's constitution. Ayurveda recommends food that is "Saatvic" in nature. "Saatvic" food is vegetarian, has a light sweet taste, with mild flavors of spice and is easy to digest. It consists of fruits and vegetables, and mainly focuses on freshly prepared and properly cooked food, consumed at the right time, and in the right quantity. A balanced diet includes all the six tastes - sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent.
At Kare, the diet is customized as per individual body constitution keeping in mind, the principles of contradictory food combinations (Virudha Aahar), and the order of tastes in the meal. They use only the purest ingredients recommended by Ayurveda - rock sugar / jaggery, rock salt and cow's ghee. The foundation of food prepared at Kare is based on the fundamental principle of Ayurveda.
Kare has an extensive library, indoor games, and an outdoor walking track. Nature lovers can trek up the hill to see the Ganesha temple, and experience the breathtaking view at the top. The spiritually-inclined can join in the Satsang, and Bhajans being held every Thursday and Friday.

Pune's Airport (PNQ), at Lohegaon, is 12 kilometers from the city center. Daily flights connect it to Mumbai and Delhi, as well as to other cities such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai. Private cabs, auto rickshaws, or city-airport shuttle buses will cover the distance from the airport to the city center.
Pune is one of the most important rail junctions in the central railways zone of Indian Railways. Plenty of trains connect it to major destinations in the south, north and west of the country by mail, express and super-fast trains. The Deccan Queen and Shatabdi Express are fast commuter trains from/to Mumbai, with travelling time of three-and-a-half hours approximately.
Pune is well connected with many of the major cities in Maharashtra by state owned bus services. Private luxury deluxe buses are operated from Pune to many cities in India, including Goa, Mumbai and Hyderabad. Regular frequent bus services are connecting Pune with Mumbai, nearly a distance of 200 kilometers.
Most people travelling to Pune from Mumbai, Nasik or Aurangabad, prefer to do so by road, as the distance between Mumbai and Pune is 170 kilometers, Nashik to Pune 209 kilometers, and Aurangabad to Pune is 230 kilometers. The roads are well maintained, with conveniently located motels and service stations en-route.
