Conseil d'expert: Ce séjour est parmi les stages de yoga les plus populaires Guatemala.
Ready for a whole new world of inspiration, a good month of a family atmosphere and culinary scrumptiousness while immersing yourself in the teachings and mysteries of authentic Tantric Hatha yoga? This "love, evolve, awaken" yoga teacher training combines a proper education in the original path of Hatha yoga with a special 4-day permaculture intensive to get a foundation in sustainability and balanced coexistence in nature and garden environments.
There are limited beds at the ashram, so book early to secure your spot (and the best rate). The rooms are private singles and doubles as well as four-bed dorms. There are hammocks and communal areas available to all. Please note that we are located in a tropical traditional Mayan village in the Third World, which also means that noise and other occasional inconveniences cannot be completely avoided. However there are not many mosquitos at all and there are no dangerous diseases, insects or other animals around.
Instead of the rushed and superficial approach that is common among shorter yoga teacher training, Kaivalya Yoga School takes the time to skillfully lead you to become a confident, courageous, and inspiring instructor of the Science of Consciousness that yoga is.
This course features over 200 contact hours, ensuring that you will be adequately prepared to guide future students confidently and successfully. This particular course includes a 4-day Permaculture module with no extra cost, covering ancient and modern practices of taking care of the land and growing food sustainably.
The course consists of five blocks with two days off in between. The class times are 07:00 to 13:00 and 15:30 to 18:30 including the 4-day Bhakti module in the middle of the course. There are also three hours of Cacao Kirtan Satsang every weekend that will be part of the course.
This teacher training is registered with the international Yoga Alliance as RYT-200, graduates are entitled to teach anywhere in the world. In order to receive the yoga instructor certificate, they require successful completion of the whole course (with at least 95% attendance), holding of an acceptable practicum class and the passing of the final exam.
You will enjoy an excursion to nearby Hummingbird Waterfall.
Mahadevi Ashram is a lush jungly garden overlooking incredible crater lake Atitlan. It is located in the traditional Mayan village of Tzununa, just outside of San Marcos La Laguna, the 'yoga capital of Central America'. The ashram is solidly-built of natural materials and features two yoga halls, several bamboo cabins with dorms and private rooms and yurts, the main lounge and kitchen building, a stone-built, wood-fired steam room right next to a lovely and clear mountain creek with dipping pools and permaculture gardens to contribute to our scrumptious meals. This retreat is surrounded by volcanoes on a crater lake that is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
The ashram kitchen provides delicious vegetarian meals on all course days. Tropical fruits, local ingredients, wholesome Ayurvedic recipes supportive for spiritual practice. Students write home about it all the time.
Mahadevi Ashram encourages focusing on the training while it goes on, there are however 1.5 days per week available to go explore the area. Kaivalya Yoga School recommends doing more exploration before or after the training as there are tons of amazing experiences to be had here: Mayan pyramids, traditional villages and markets, kayaking, scuba diving, standup-paddleboarding, zip-lining, paragliding, beautiful colonial towns, a hot water fall, caves and the unique geological phenomenon of Semuc Champey. You could easily spend three months in Guatemala without getting bored or breaking the bank. You can also visit San Pedro volcano across the lake.
There is a wood-fired, stone-built sauna on site and various massage therapists that can be booked locally at affordable rates.
Please book your flight to arrive at La Aurora International Airport (GUA). Transfer from the airport is included. Kaivalya Yoga School will pick you up from the airport.
The closest airport is La Aurora International Airport (GUA). From there, you can make use of Kaivalya Yoga School private shuttle at 12:30 on the first day. If this time will not suit you, you can safely take the shared shuttle right outside the arrivals gate to Antigua (10 USD), a lovely colonial town 45 minutes away. From there, either on the same day or later, take another shuttle directly to Panajachel on Lake Atitlan. They leave four times per day and cost around 10 USD.
