Au cours de cette retraite, vous serez logé dans des Sidmouth Hotels. Les Sidmouth Hotels ont trois hôtels l’un à côté de l’autre, tous situés le long de l’esplanade de Sidmouth avec une vue imprenable sur toute la côte jurassique. Flânez le long de la plage, construisez un château de sable, nagez dans des piscines rocheuses, randonnez le long de la côte ou détendez-vous simplement sur la plage. La plage, la ville et la campagne sont à côté.

Veuillez noter que dans le cas où les hôtels n’ont pas de chambres disponibles, Jala Flow Yoga fera de son mieux pour vous placer dans un logement de remplacement standard.

    Après plus de 10 ans à lutter contre la pression des rouages des entreprises multinationales, Tom a eu beaucoup de gratitude pour sa famille directe, sa femme et sa soeur, toutes les deux instructrices de yoga, qui l'ont aidé à se diriger vers une vie plus épanouissante. Tom a senti son esprit immédiatement plus élevé à lors de son premier cours de yoga. Depuis ce moment là, une nouvelle volonté de vivre l'accompagne.

    British Wheel of Yoga (Hatha Yoga)

    Louis a débuté son voyage de yoga en 1997 après avoir commencé un cours dans une salle de sport où elle enseignait l'aérobique. C'est une professeur expérimentée, qualifiée à la British Wheel of Yoga, et donne des cours et des ateliers depuis 2001. Elle a aussi des diplômes de yoga BSY Hatha et BSY pre et post natal ainsi qu'une coach de relaxation pour enfants pour tous les yogis en herbe. En tant que professeur, elle se sent honoré de partager ses études et son amour du yoga avec ses étudiants. Elle souhaite que chacun quitte ses cours en se sentant plus heureux et plus sain.

Cette retraite aura lieu dans la ville de Sidmouth, Devon, Grande-Bretagne. Sidmouth est un resort sur le front de mer intact, de charme sauvage et pittoresque sur la côte du Devon du Sud, qui fait partie du patrimoine mondial, sur la côte jurassique. Sidmouth est niché sous les falaises rouges majestueux de Peak et Salcombe Hill et les collines verdoyantes de la vallée du Sid. Réputée pour ses jardins et décorations florales et célèbre pour sa richesse de l’architecture fine, le centre de la ville pittoresque offre une large gamme de magasins individuels et est un régal à parcourir.

    Perfect Break Away

    CONS Je n'ai pas aimé: The spa visit could have been a bit longer, we were rushed when we there.

    PROS J'ai aimé: The accommodation that Tom & Louise had arranged for us was amazing, they took time and trouble to upgrade our hotel. The food there was out of this world. Also included was a visit to the spa which was lovely. The yoga itself was exactly what we needed, not too challenging but not too easy. Everything they arranged for us was perfect and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend. Thanks Tom & Louise.

    Great break for down time and yoga

    CONS Je n'ai pas aimé: Only minor comments - not dislikes. Hotel room allocated was on top floor and under a flat roof. Woken up each morning around 5am with gulls padding across the roof!

    PROS J'ai aimé: Sidmouth is a lovely characterful town. Yoga classes only a few minutes from the hotel. Good mix of yoga classes in differing styles. Good instructors. Hotel good - room comfortable, staff great and food excellent.

    Fantastic short break away

    CONS Je n'ai pas aimé: I found the yoga classes quite strenuously for a beginner but the atmosphere in the yoga studio was very relaxing and welcoming.

    PROS J'ai aimé: Tom and Louise were so helpful sending me lotsnof of information before I arrived. I stayed in a lovely guest house right on the seafront, with wonderful walks along the coast.

    A lovely 3 days

    PROS J'ai aimé: It was just a great experience from someone who hadn't done much yoga beforehand. I didn't feel out of place as there was always good clear instructions led by both teachers, Louise & Tom. Tired lots of different styles of yoga throughout the 3 days which has given me a great insight to yoga itself, I only thought there was 1! I would recommend to anyone.

    CONS Je n'ai pas aimé: Personally, I liked the lot. However, if someone is looking for a more hip experience they might not find the 1950s-esque guesthouse as delightful as I did. Also, if you're looking for more of an immersive/holistic retreat experience, or are looking for advanced yoga practice, you might want to find something a bit more specialist. That said, I feel that Louise and Tom are more than willing to lead people through an in-depth hardcore three days of discovery if that's what the individual is after. If I went back (as I intend to), I would feel very comfortable about engaging with them to ensure I had a more directed retreat experience (i.e focusing on the yoga rather than the chips!)

    PROS J'ai aimé: It was a perfect retreat for someone who wants to explore yoga without the pressure of 'having an epiphany'. The Jala flow retreat offers a truly flexible experience - you can practice, meditate, transform yourself as much or as little as you like. Louise and Tom are wonderfully welcoming and supportive, but totally unobtrusive. They allow individuals to 'retreat' in the way that's right for them. In between yoga sessions the beautiful seaside location helps you find a different kind of zen. Spectacular coastline, a totally unpretentious scene (the cool kids aren't hanging out in Sidmouth and Sidmouth's all the better for it), and the world class fish & chips are Enlightenment in a paper bag.

    Shining in Sidmouth

    CONS Je n'ai pas aimé: The hotel room was a little of a let down. It is billed as a sea view but you have to climb in the corner of the window and stretch out to see the sea. The hotel staff were exceptional with maybe some improvement with the room cleaning staff. Also the "mini-fridge" only held 3 cans of soda.

    PROS J'ai aimé: Tom and Louise were wonderful and the classes were designed just for mew. The other patrons were really nice and supportive as well. The hotel was in a great location and the food was flawless and delicious.

    "Excellent service from Jalaflow from the moment of booking: Very helpful and friendly managers who sorted us out with a really good itinerary of yoga and a trip to the spa. The Glendevon Guesthouse was extremely comfortable, spacious and had an excellent range of food at breakfast time including lovely fresh fruit, smoked salmon and cooked breakfast. The yoga classes were all a bit different from one another, but a real education in the available forms of yoga. The teachers were welcoming and the studio was appropriately equipped. I normally do pilates and my partner does yoga, but we both found our level and were encouraged. We especially enjoyed listening to the seagulls during shavasana. Sidmouth is a lovely little town for a two day stay and the seafront gives a refreshing walk. There are plenty of small places to eat and independent shops to potter around. We had a very restful weekend and would consider coming again."

    "I had an amazing retreat at the Jala Flow Yoga. I felt welcomed and at home the moment I arrived at Tom and Louise Hunt's studio. They were so nice and helpful throughout my stay. The yoga classes were excellent and of top notch quality. I participated in an Iyengar workshop and attended some vinayassa, hatha and yin classes. I stayed at a lovely hotel right on the esplanade with beautiful views of the ocean. The meals were great and their were plenty of vegetarian options. SIdmouth is a gorgeous British seaside town with enough to keep you busy during a stay. I hated to leave and would return in a heartbeat."

    "On Wednesday I decided it was time for a break. On Friday I was driving down to Sidmouth Devon to check into the Glendevon Guest House in Cotmaton Road. "

    "I had looked at this Yoga Retreat earlier in the summer, but wasn't sure of my availability. I decided two days before hand that I would spend the weekend in Devon and book via Jalaflow. "

    "Louise handled all of my booking on short notice, arranged my guesthouse for two nights, a spa session on the Friday at Aspara spa for after my arrival, plus also a first time Reki session in Beer at the Green Room Healing with Sandy, for Saturday afternoon - all of which were fab."

    "Rod and Lesley made me feel very welcome to their guesthouse of 2 years, making me a lovely cuppa on my arrival, with Rod even walking me down to the town so show me where everything was that I needed over the weekend starting with the spa!"

    "Spa was great (remember your swimming costume - if not there is a swimming pool nearby where you can buy one - ashamed face!) lovely start to the weekend. "

    "Unfortunately, arriving after lunch means you miss the morning yoga, but first session was 8.30 (for 75 mins) Saturday morning after a cracking breakfast rustled up by Lesley then session two was also run by Mel at Jalaflow for another 75 minutes. The Studio is easy to find in town (which is small and mainly consists of two main roads of shops) the studio feels calming and the classes are not too busy, Mel was great and also really welcoming."

    "Sidmouth is a small town but there are plenty of 'treasures' to be found, a couple of lovely housey type shops, The Cheese Board, lovely coffee shops and restaurants in little nooks and cranny's if you keep your eyes open. I eat in the Anchor pub Friday early evening after the spa - which was very busy - after stopping at anther pub nearer the front which was even busier to deciding to just pop into somewhere else on route back to the guest house. Dinner was quick and sufficient, staff were busy but polite and accommodating to find me a seat without a booking - so no real complaints here."

    "After a wonderful fish platter lunch in Cafe Mocca on the sea front, Saturday afternoon I headed over to Beer which is a tiny fishing village with character. The beaches are stony in both Sidmouth and Beer - I bought home a roughly shaped heart shaped stone found in Sidmouth. There were tea rooms and pub (and ice cream parlours in Beer but I was there for the Green Room Healing run by Sandy."

    "Sandy can be found at the very bottom of Long Hill, just behind the bus stop (I was half way up the very steep hill on foot - before realising this). Sandy was fabulous. She really knows her stuff, was very welcoming and provided me with a fantastic hour of treatment which was amazing. I have never had this before and would totally recommend this to ANYONE. I also slept like a baby Saturday night - whether that was the yoga, the sea air, the hill, the comfy bed or the Reki - I don't mind - it was a great nights sleep and I was grateful."

    "Sunday morning started off with another cracking breakfast by Lesley and Rod, followed by a visit back to the Jalaflow studio and treated to a 75 minute session with Louise, as Bill who was scheduled was away. A great session of hot Ying Yang yoga to really sort me out before another potter along the beach with a green tea and the drive home."

    "I was fortunate enough to have had Louise teach me yoga for 18 months (mainly Ashtanga and Hatha flow) and I can honestly say that I have never had a teacher quite as special as her. She has a wonderful way of teaching a challenging, fast paced class while maintaining a wonderfully calm and focused atmosphere. She also manages to give each and every member of her class the focused attention they need, without compromising the flow of the class. I consider myself lucky to have had her as a teacher, and she is largely responsible for my love of yoga today. Through her nurturing teaching style and supportive, caring nature I have developed a strong and committed daily practice. I am incredibly grateful for all she has taught me and I very much look forward to visiting her and Tom at their new studio."

    "Practising yoga has been both life changing and life enhancing. Learning under the guidance of Louise has been a truly amazing and nurturing experience. I began my yoga practice in October 2013 with a basic knowledge of postures and was instantly hooked. Louise has the ability to tune in with her students and the yoga sessions vary in intensity depending upon the mood or energy levels within the class. You always feel like you have worked hard and have achieved something, and always finish the class feeling rejuvenated for days afterwards."

    "I have suffered with regular migraines since a child and took preventative medication. After six months of yoga, I stopped taking my medication and am now pretty much migraine free. I also had terrible posture due to such migraines. My posture has improved immensely and I am now able to stand up straight. I am physically stronger and healthy than I have ever been. I am much more flexible than I ever imagined I could be. I have also learned several breathing techniques under Louise’s guidance which have so many well being benefits. Yoga will always be an important part of my life."
