Island Yoga has 4 types of accommodations to choose from. For the cost conscious traveler there are dorm beds and private rooms in our budget house. The comfort bungalows are more spacious with a fan, hot shower and mosquito net, while the a/c bungalows add a little more luxury to the retreat experience.

Rooms in Budget House: There are 4 private rooms within the budget house, each with its own bathroom. These rooms have a double bed or two single beds plus a fan, hot shower and mosquito net.

Dormitories: We have two female dorms and one mixed dorm; each female dorm has a shared bathroom, 3 single beds, fans, hot showers and mosquito nets. The mixed dorm is new and has 4 bunk beds (8 beds), fans, two shared bathrooms, hot showers and mosquito nets.

Island Yoga Yoga Vacation in Koh Yao Noi Itinerary

Everyone is welcome, whether you are a dedicated yogi looking to enhance your practice or an absolute beginner seeking a safe environment to begin your yoga journey. Each yoga vacation begins with the 4.30 p.m. evening yoga class on the day of arrival and concludes after the morning class on the final day. Our yoga teachers each have a unique style to offer which provides a colorful array of practices for your retreat-vacation. Most classes are based in Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, or Yin yoga.

Hatha yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting opposites with a system of physical postures and breathing. In our physical bodies, we develop a balance of strength and flexibility, but we also learn to balance our effort and relax in each pose. Vinyasa Flow artfully connects postures with breath to create a graceful, flowing, and rhythmic practice. Yin yoga is a beautiful practice of surrender that stretches the connective tissue (fascia) in the body by passively holding postures for longer times with gentle pressure. Morning sessions tend to be more energizing and afternoon classes are often quite gentle in nature. With this daily combination, you will receive a sense of what it means to embody graceful strength in your life.

Typical daily retreat schedule

07.00-07.30: Optional early morning meditation

07.30-09.30: Morning yoga practice

09.30-16.30: Healthy yogi breakfast at the Nature Lodge followed by free time to rest, explore, adventure, get a massage, do a Thai cookery class etc. Island Yoga also hosts their special theme workshops at this time.

16.30-18.00: Afternoon yoga practice

Optional evening activities may include: family dinners, kirtan (group chanting) guided meditations, and spiritual / special interest movie nights. These activities are subject to numbers and interest.

David Sharpe
Nées dans le parc naturel de Snowdonia, dans le nord du Pays de Galles, les deux passions de David ont toujours été l'aventure et la recherche de spiritualité. En 1987, il a créé une école orienté sur l'extérieur qui met l'accent sur l'apprentissage par l'expérience et le développement personnel. Après avoir déménagé aux Etats-Unis en 1996, il a continué à délivrer ses enseignements perspicaces au travers d'ateliers de yoga et de développement personnel.
Roni Miteff
Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200, RYT 500 (Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga)
Roni Miteff est un professeur de yoga expérimenté et certifié E-RYT 200, RYT 500 en hatha yoga classique, vinyasa, yoga restauratif et yin yoga. C'est une thérapeute certifiée IAYT spécialisée dans les thérapies structurelles, la santé des femmes et l'équilibre mental au travers du yoga, de l'ayurveda et de la thérapie sonore. C'est également une pratiquante du bouddhisme qui a trouvé refuge dans le lignage Karma Kayu du bouddhisme tibétain en 2004. Les enseignements de Roni viennent des arts contemporains, du théâtre, de la musique et de son évolution avec le yoga.
Dimitri Miteff
Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200, RYT 500 (Dynamic Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Alignment Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga)
Dimitri Miteff est professeur de yoga certifié E-RYT 200 et RYT 500 en hatha, vinyasa, yin et calligraphy yoga (qigong) sour la direction du maître Zhen Hua Yang. Dimitri propose des cours dynamiques centrés sur l'alignement, la respiration, la pleine conscience, le développement personnel. Dimitri est également thérapeute du son professionnel et travaille avec l'IASH (International Academy of Sound Healing, Inde). Il a été initié à des rituels des américains et indonésiens natifs avec des chamanes à Bali et au sein de la FSS (Foundation for Shamanic Studies).
Verle Geuens
Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 (Yoga)
Veerle est un professeur accrédité par une formation de 500 heures, spécialisé en vinyasa flow, yin et yoga restauratif, pranayama et méditation. Elle a de l'expérience en tant que psychologue et organise des circuits cultures bouddhistes dans l'Himalaya depuis 8 ans. Avec 10 ans de pratique et d'enseignement du yoga en Belgique, Grande-Bretagne, Inde et Thailande, Veerle a une grande expérience en conception de cours et de retraites pour ses étudiants. Elle a également étudié la médecine traditionnelle chinoise, le qigong, le bouddhisme, l'ayurveda, la pleine conscience, le kriya yoga et le yoga thérapeutique pour femmes.
Rene
Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Yoga)
Rene est un professeur de yoga accrédité 200h avec une passion pour l'ashtanga vinyasa, le yin yoga, le pranayama, la philosophie du yoga. Rene pratique la méditation vipassana depuis plus de 12 ans et la pratique au quotidien. Avec Veerle, il a voyagé en Inde et dans l'Himalaya, ce qui lui a permis d'intégrer la philosophie orientale dans son style de vie occidental.
Antonella Milo
Antonella Milo pratique le yoga depuis 17 ans. Elle a étudié avec des professeurs renommés en Grande-Bretagne et en Inde, où elle a vécu pendant 2 ans. Elle a participé à de nombreuses retraites Vipassana et silencieuses dans le monde entier. Sa passion pour les pratiques de mouvement conscient l'ont mené en Chine où elle a étudié le tai chi et le qi gong. Elle a enseigné en Grande-Bretagne, en Italie, au Brésil, au Sri Lanka, en Chine et au Népal et est actuellement basé à Koh Yao Noi où elle enseigne lors de cours et d'ateliers.

Lieu du séjour

Koh Yao Noi is located in the Phang-Nga bay between Phuket and Krabi. It remains one of the rare gems of southeast Asia; an island still largely undiscovered by mainstream tourism with pristine beaches, friendly locals, and outstanding natural beauty. It really is the perfect retreat hideaway. The island is completely safe and the locals are very friendly and polite. Its remarkable to walk down the main street in the market and see every motor scooter with its key in the ignition!

Plenty of leisure time between yoga classes allows you to discover the islands customs and culture, adventures, as well as cuisine. You can cruise the spectacular Phang Nga bay, explore the island by bicycle or scooter, take a Thai cookery class, get a massage, or just relax in the hammock.

All yogis take the delicious and healthy breakfast at the lodge.

Exclusions

You can also order snacks, shakes, lunch and dinner at the lodge or visit other restaurants in the village and around the island. You can order vegetarian options to most items on the local restaurant menus. There is a water station at the restaurant where you can refill your water bottles.

Activités et lieux à visiter

You can rent bicycles, kayaks, and motor scooters at the lodge to explore the island. If you need a taxi, just speak to Ning and shell organize one for you. The local village is called Tha Khao and is a 10 minute walk along the beach from the nature lodge.

Tha Khao has a sell everything store, food stalls, and an internet cafe. The main road around the island is a 20 kilometer loop. Theres one real town halfway around the loop called the market which has about 1,000 inhabitants. The market has a 7-11, a post office, police station, bank, internet cafes, local and tourist restaurants, clothing stores, a pharmacy, and an ATM.

There is another ATM 2 kilometer from the nature lodge, but bring cash as these machines sometimes dont work! There are beaches all down the eastern side of the island, which is our side, and amazing sunrises. The western side has mangroves with good bird watching and stunning sunsets.

With plenty of free time during the day, you can explore remote beaches, lively markets, rice paddies, and rubber plantations. This is also the time to treat yourself to a massage or take a Thai cookery course. Recreation options include swimming, snorkeling, hiking, biking, rock climbing, and kayaking.

Comment se rendre sur place ?

Arrival by airplane

Phuket

From the airport, take a taxi to Bang Rong Pier. This will take approximately 25 minutes and cost 600 THB.

From Old Phuket town, local buses leave from the fresh market to Bang Rong Pier every day at 8.30 am, 9.30 am, 10.30 am, 11.30 am, 1 pm, and 4 pm. This costs 100 THB.

You can also take a tuk-tuk to the pier for about 400 THB. From there, catch the ferry to Koh Yao Noi (Manoh Pier). This takes approximately 30 minutes by speedboat costing 200 THB per person and approximately 1 hour by long tail costing 120 THB per person.

Boat times are 7.30 am, 8.30 am, 9.40 am, 11.15 am, 12.30 pm, 1.15 pm, 2.30 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm, 5 pm, and 5.30 pm.

Finally, take a local taxi to Ulmars Nature Lodge (Island Yoga). This takes approximately 20 mins and costs 150 THB per person. Dont worry, there will always be taxis waiting for you at the pier. No need to pre-arrange this.

Krabi

Take a taxi from Krabi town, Krabi Airport, or Ao Nang to Tha Lane Pier. This takes approximately 45 minutes from the airport and costs 700-800 THB.

The less expensive option is to go by local bus which leaves from near Krabi Town bus station (5 km outside Krabi) to Tha Lane Pier at: 9 am, 10 am 12 noon 3 pm, and 4 pm.

You can also catch these same buses each morning from the center of Krabi town in front of the Voda supermarket. Generally, they leave at 9 am, 10 am, and 11.30 am.

Next, catch the ferry to Koh Yao Noi (Tha Khao Pier). Boats leave the pier for Koh Yao Noi every day at 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, 4 pm, and 5.15 pm. The speedboat, on the other hand, takes about 30 minutes costing 200 THB. By long tail, it takes approximately 1 hour costing 150 THB.

Lastly, take a local taxi to Ulmars Nature Lodge (Island Yoga) which costs 50 THB per person. There will always be taxis waiting for you at the pier. No need to pre-arrange this. You can also walk to the Nature Lodge from this pier. It takes 15 minutes.
