The retreat is held at Tallow Beach Houses, which features individual beach-houses, each with two bedrooms, a bathroom, lounge room, kitchen, and deck. The beachhouses are set in natural bush land just behind the frontal dune system of Tallow Beach, one of the quietest and most beautiful beaches of the region. The yoga room is timber floored, large, and light.

The program begins at 18:00 on the first day with an opening circle, and ends with closing circle followed by dinner on the last evening, and departure thereafter, the next morning.

Typical daily schedule

  • 07.30 Meditation. In this session, you will apply a variety of traditional, guided sitting meditation techniques.
  • 08:00 Therapeutic Vinyasa style yoga asana

Using a flowing, focused sequence of postures, fundamental asanas will be addressed to build a deeper understanding of postural bio-mechanics and learn to manage common areas of pain, tightness, and weakness in the body. Though the practice is strength and fitness building, Flo creates a strong focus of awareness on the subtleties of the physical postures, core-strength, and the movement of the breath in the body.

There will be alternatives given to those whose injuries or postural peculiarities prevent them from performing a posture with total comfort and safety. This practice will be of benefit to all, beginners to advanced students or teachers.

  • 10:00 Breakfast. This will be self-catered in your own cabin.
  • 12:30 Yoga Nidra
  • 13:00 Lunch. Have freshly prepared, buffet style, and vegetarian lunch.
  • 14:00 Free time. Take up a massage, read, swim or to explore the glorious environment.
  • 16:00 Yoga

There will be introspective yoga asana, pranayama, meditation, and yoga Nidra. This session will be of particular benefit to those seeking a way to use their yoga practice to relax and tune-in at a deeper level.

In this session, you will explore various breathing techniques, meditation, and yoga Nidra (guided visualization and deep-relaxation) to bring about a deep experience of connectedness with the subtlest layers of your being. It is especially beneficial to those who have had a strongly asana focused practice, or those who have stressful lives, and are not familiar with yoga Nidra.

  • 18:30 Dinner. Enjoy a vegetarian, freshly prepared, and delicious evening meal.


Flo Fenton
Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 (Yoga)
Flo is a regular contributor to Australian Yoga Life magazine, and writes the regular Yoga Matters segment for Nature and Health magazine. She is currently registered with Yoga Alliance at the highest possible level of teaching experience, ERYT-500, and is also a member of Yoga Australia. Her style is both meditative and enlivening, balancing the active and the passive sides of our nature. As we focus within, developing the capacity to witness ourselves, the sessions themselves become a form of Yoga Therapy, which flows out into our lives beyond the classroom.

Todd has played a role in the development of Australian spa cuisine as head chef from inception of the award winning Gaia Retreat and Spa, one of Australia’s leading retreat and spas. Todd was also head of the kitchen of Yoga Plus, Europe’s leading yoga retreat center in Crete Greece. He uses the best fresh seasonal and organic local ingredients available, and caters to all dietary requirements.

These therapists are in such high demand that they are usually booked up one or two months in advance. On these retreats, you will get the opportunity to access the highest quality of deep tissue and remedial massage, Ayurvedic massage, Ayurvedic consultations, chakra balancing and energy work, and more.

You will also have the opportunity to book in with Flo for a mini private yoga session. In these sessions, injuries and other unique individual peculiarities can be addressed. You will receive a home practice that you can continue with at home. These treatments and sessions are available as optional extras for an additional fee.

Arrival by bus

A shuttle bus can be arranged from the airport to Tallow Beach Houses. These buses must be pre-booked. From Coolangatta, the Brisbane2Byron express bus leaves at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, or 2 p.m. on Sundays.
