Shanti Niketan Yoga & Wellness retreat is located in the Eastern side of Mallorca island, which is ideal for yoga practice. The world Shanti Niketan mean the house of peace. The retreat set up is in a peaceful atmosphere in the nest of a natural typical Mallorcan village, away from distractions and pollution, and away enough from beach and crowd (7 minutes by car from Cala Millor and Porto Cristo with it’s “Coves del Drag”).

The entire retreat is equipped with stone buildings, enough place to chill out, to meditate or to be in your own when you required. The retreat area is near about 20.000 square meters of land with a beautiful landscape full of pine, olive, lemon and many other trees which nestles various colorful birds, butterflies, awls, etc. The retreat is also a house for several small cute tortoise and rabbits who are naturally living there which consider to be an auspicious symbols as per many oriental philosophies.

This Mallorca retreat is not a luxurious place for sit back and relax, but it is a place for peace, harmony, joy and happiness in the lap of mother nature. Keeping in mind the best quality of teaching and service with a capacity for 20 to 25 students to accommodate in the retreat in 2 different options which includes stone rooms and mongolian yurt or glamping tent.

There will be a total of 180 contact hours during the 3 weeks program. Before the training start every student has to submit 2 assignments consisting in summaries of reading materials and submitting an article. There will be consider as 20 non-contact hours. Curriculum

A redefined a curriculum as per the international standards of Yoga Alliance USA coupled with own expertise in the field of yoga. The prime objective is to prepare the future teachers physically and spiritually ready to practice and teach by themselves. We will lay down the foundations to become a successful and well-rounded yoga teacher.

The main areas that Green Yoga India covers in the program will be classified in 5 modules: Yoga teaching techniques, teaching methodology and yogic lifestyle, philosophy, anatomy and physiology, and practice.

Yoga teaching techniques

Yoga teaching techniques is one of the most important and essential parts of the course. This part of the teaching includes training, practicing and teaching techniques of traditional yoga practices like:

  • Asana (yoga postures) as per the different yoga stiles that we will teach in the course
  • Pranayama (breathing techniques)
  • Shatkarmas (cleansing techniques)
  • Bandhas (locking of energy)
  • Mudras (channelizing energy)
  • Meditation techniques
  • Mantras and chanting

Teaching methodology

The objective and aim of this module is to learn the art of teaching as well as the business and marketing aspects of yoga:

  • Cultivate the qualities of a good teacher like intonation of voice, timings, class planning, sequencing of asanas and art of adjustment and alignment.
  • Get opportunity to refine your qualities by teaching in small and big group with other students.

Anatomy and physiology

This module will be focusing on:

  • The general movement and terminology of human body
  • The systems of the body (nervous, endocrine, respiratory, skeletal and muscular systems) and their co-relations in the context of yoga practice
  • Benefits and contraindications of the yoga asanas. key muscles of yoga
  • The pranic energy channels of the body
  • The pancha koshas (sheath)
  • The five elements of universe
  • The seven chakras

Yoga philosophy, lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers

In yoga philosophy you will learn the aim and objective of yoga, and the ethics and living a yogic lifestyle. Yoga philosophy includes:

  • Definition of yoga
  • Paths of yoga (jnana, raja, bhakti and karma yoga)
  • 8 limbs of Patanjali yoga sutras
  • Biography of important yogis
  • Study of ancient text: Bhagavad Gita
  • Yogic diet and life style
  • Ayurveda
  • Practicum

In this module you will:

  • Get opportunity to refine your qualities by teaching as a lead trainer in small and big groups with other students
  • Receive and give feedback from your end to your colleagues

Dancing

As part of the special program, workshops on therapy yoga, laughter yoga, corporate yoga, acro yoga, Kundalini yoga and yoga for weight loss will also be included. Activities such as, silent walking meditation, satsang, cultural program, and environmental awareness program will also be conducted.

Retreat reminders

This month long program is an opportunity to look deep inside yourself by training your body and mind and heading towards the soul following certain yamas and niyamas (dos and donts) as described below:

During the training, consumption of drugs, smokes and drinks are prohibited. Understand that this training is a beginning of your new life.

Please inform Green Yoga India well in hand if you have undergone any recent injuries or surgery. Also if you are having any disease or food allergy.

Although the environment is encouraging and the concern about the health and safety of the students, if any injury occurs during the course and practice, the school and affiliated teachers are not liable. It is the students own responsibility toward safety.

Even though the retreat is very safe and secure it is advised that students take care of their valuable belongings.

Students should be on time for all the classes and at least 90% attendance is required to get the certificate. If you miss any class time (except an emergency), the missed classes must be completed at extra cost to the student and according to the teachers availability.

Its requested to maintain your accommodation and common areas of the retreat clean and high degree of personal hygiene. Green Yoga India maintains high standards of cleanliness.

Green Yoga India expects a friendly and respectful behavior manner towards staffs, teachers and colleagues during your training period.

    Inspired by the life and philosophy of the great sage of India Swami Vivekananda (founder of Ramakrisna mission) and Swami Sivananda, Atmarekha decided to dedicate his life for the service to the world through the science and arts of yoga. He specializes in all aspect of yoga like traditional hatha , kundalini yoga, Stress management for corporates, and the secret of tantric yogic practice. He is an exceptional motivational speaker, story teller and spiritual leader of eastern India. He is also Ayurveda and Yoga Therapist.

  • Veronica Arias Gomez

    Being a classical concert pianist with master degree from Holland Conservatorium and awards in several piano competitions, yogini Veronica left the material world behind and start exploring the world in search of the real meaning of life. She started practicing various forms of yoga in Europe since 12 years ago. Her interest in natural healing treatments drives her to obtain a Degree in Holistic western and oriental spa therapies. She is spiritually married to Atmarekha and presently residing in Spain organizing, teaching and running Yoga teacher training school in Goa, Bali, and Spain.

    Graduated with honors in yoga philosophy from Mumbai University, Anushree specialices in Yoga Therapy, Anatomy & bio-mechanics and Yin Yoga.     Laura’s journey into the path of Yoga began to combat her spinal and knee injuries. She took her first major step and completed a YTTC at Anusara Teacher Training in the UK.     Born in Santiago, Chile, Alonso’s yogic journey started in 2003 during his contemporary dance studies. Alonso started practicing Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga and it took no time for him to fall in love with such a great-powerful discipline. He devoted 2 years in intense practice and then took up a 360 hours TTC in Yogashala School, Chile. Alonso shares his classes with his students, as a journey to the heart, surrendering to a higher vibration, and enabling them to practice to their own level of ability.

    An Italian born in Switzerland.Alan met the Yoga path in his early life, took a small diversion and then came back to it in the last decade andthen since 2011 he has completely dedicated himself to the Ashtanga Yoga. His classes are aimed to bring the practitioner to the experience of the Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore Style, where the rhythm of the body flowing between the asanas is dictated by the individual breath (we all are unique) and where the final experience of the practice will become a meditation on the impermanence and a development of mind equanimity.

Please book your flight to arrive at Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI). Transfer from and to the airport is included. The organizer will pick you up from the airport. From the airport, you can take a taxi to Shanti Niketan Yoga and Ayurveda Retreat for 100 - 140 Euro or a public bus to Manacor city for 5 - 7 Euro and the organizer will be waiting for you there.
