You will be accommodated in single or shared double rooms, with shared or attached bathrooms. The venue has a swimming pool, gardens, chill out zones, terrace, and free Wi-Fi. Gayatri Yoga provides bed linen. The washing machine costs 3 EUR per load. There are surf spot and surf school in the next village if you are interested in checking them out.

Gayatri Yoga's Teacher Training Course includes full 200 hours teachings with a yoga teacher by your side, these classes are called contact hours. Self-study classes include the preparations for your own lessons as a teacher and also homework, which are additional non-contact hours. This means that you will come on around 250 hours in your TTC.

Gayatri Yoga is a small and very familiar school and accepts a maximum of 6 to 8 trainees in each course. The quality of their training and the individual time they spend with their students is much more important as the quantity of students. This way, they are always there for their trainees and they are able to help wherever needed.

Gayatri Yoga follows the traditions of Swami Satyananda and Swami Sivananda. It includes Kriya, Jnana, Raja, Bhakti and Karma Yoga, as written in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, which are the roots of all yoga styles and includes:

  • Gentle and Restorative Yoga

Course overview (RYS 200)

Techniques, training, and practice (100 hours)

This includes asanas, pranayamas, meditation, mudra, bandha, kriyas, mantra chanting, and the classic yoga styles, such as Karma, Jnana, Bhakti, Kriya, and Raja yoga. These hours are a mix of analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques and guided the practice of the techniques themselves.

Teaching methodology (25 hours)

  • Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting, and correcting
  • Qualities of a teacher
  • The five categories of asana where the trainee will learn the key poses in each category: standing poses, forward bends, backbends twists, and inversions
  • The benefits and contra-indications for each asana
  • Principles of demonstrating asanas
  • Pre and post-natal yoga
  • Yoga for kids
  • Yoga for seniors
  • Restorative yoga, which includes basic and preparatory movements
  • Yoga therapy, which includes specific asana groups for common disease and how to adjust the practice to your student's needs
  • How to guide students through the use of language and voice with positive and conscious communication

Anatomy and physiology (20 hours)

  • Overview on physical anatomy and physiology, bodily systems, and organs
  • Prana, chakras, nadis and, koshas
  • Benefits and contraindications
  • Ayurveda basics

Yoga philosophy, lifestyle, and ethics for yoga teachers (30 hours)

  • Overview about the Bhagavad Gita, Vedas, Mahabharata, and Ramayana
  • Yogic lifestyle
  • Karma and reincarnation
  • Diet
  • The ethics of a yogi as written in the yoga sutras of Patanjali or Ashtanga yoga, which are the roots for all yoga styles
  • Mindfulness and development of consciousness
  • Understanding the value of teaching yoga
  • Business aspects of yoga

Practicum (25 hours)

  • Micro lessons and individual teaching practice, which includes individual teaching and assisting as student in teaching lessons

    Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 (Yoga)

    Course director, Radhika is a registered E-RYT 500 / Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher and YACEP / Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider. Since the early 2000s, she has been constantly deepening her experience in yoga. In 2007, she completed an Ayurveda course in Rasovai, Morjim and a teacher training course at Yoga Vidya Gurukul, Nasik both in India. By 2009, she also completed a yoga teacher therapy course in Yoga Vidya Gurukul, Nasik, India. In 2017, she completed her Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in Vinyasa Yoga in Rishikesh, India.

  • Kiran

    Kiran completed his yoga teacher training in Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga in December 2010 at Kailash School of Yoga, Mcleodganj, India, as well a second Hatha Yoga teacher training at Gaytari School of Yoga Fuertventura, Spain at 2011. He currently teaches Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation in Spanish and English. He will guide and help you with your teaching and micro lessons. Kiran said that yoga changed his life in many positive ways and he likes to share this experience with others.

  • Anand

    Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Hatha Yoga)

    Anand's journey began in 2008 as a fitness instructor and personal trainer, where he worked for a large corporate gym in the UK. He is specialised in circuit training, bodyweight / calisthenics, hypertrophy / strength, endurance and core stability training. He has experience in the styles of Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin and Hot Yoga. He completed his teacher training with Gayatri Yoga in 2016. Almost one year after he graduated from Gayatri, he is now teaching Hatha and Flow Yoga classes at the school where it all began for him. He is teaching our Hatha and Flow Yoga classes.


Tenerife is of volcanic origin and the largest of the seven Canary Islands. It is located around 300 kilometers from the African coast and about 1,300 kilometers from the Spanish mainland. It has an area of 2,034 square kilometers with the gigantic Pico del Teide rising up in the center to 3,718 meters, making it the highest point of Spain.

Tenerife is known throughout the world as the island of eternal spring. The traditional architecture of the Canary Islands takes its inspiration mainly from the traditional architecture of Andalusia and Portugal although it also has a strong personality of its own.


The small resort Tejina lies on the rocky coast in the northeast of Tenerife. It is surrounded by the foothills of the Anaga Mountains. The village and the surroundings are very rural and idyllic. The climate is extremely pleasant as temperatures do not sink below 17 degrees Celsius, even in winter.

A harvest festival is an important event and the people of Tejina have a rather unusual way to celebrate it. The festival is called ''The Hearts of Tejina'' and is held in August. Hearts are decorated with flowers, fruit, and cakes, and each heart is around 12 meters tall and weighs about 1,000 kilograms.

When the three main neighborhoods in the town bring out the hearts that they have been working on for a month, an entertaining ritual begins, in which each neighborhood mocks the others' hearts. The festivity dates back over a hundred years.

This retreat is based on the self-catering principle. As you all have different dietary habits, feel free to use the school kitchen to prepare vegetarian meals, to your choice and taste. Normally, the trainees cook together and have fun in the kitchen. Gayatri Yoga provides fruits, vegetables, and all basic foods you need, from spices to pasta.

Please note that products are not allowed in the school are meat, fish, seafood, egg, garlic, onion, coffee, alcohol, and tobacco. Please also keep the kitchen and dining room always clean.

During your free time, feel free to enjoy beautiful beaches, the volcanic scenery, and sightseeing.

Ayurvedic Massage, Physiotherapy and Acupuncture are available on request at an extra cost.

From the airport, you need to take the secondary road TF-154.

Driving directions from Tenerife South Airport (TFS)

From the South Airport, you need to take the highway TF-1 to the North Airport, and then the secondary road TF-154.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flights to arrive at Tenerife North Airport (TNF). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Gayatri Yoga will pick you up from the airport. You also can book your flights to Tenerife South Airport (TSF). From there, you need to catch the bus to the Tenerife North Airport (TNF) and Gayatri Yoga will then come and pick you up there.

Please note that the pick up will be arranged only if you send an SMS or WhatsApp with the exact bus number and arrival time to the Tenerife North Airport (TNF) prior your arrival to Gayatri Yoga.

Arrival by bus

There are bus connections from both airports. If you catch a flight to the south and you arrive in the evening or your flight leaves early in the morning, it could be a problem to get a bus and you may need to stay overnight in the south.
