You will be accommodated at Casa Kiliku, a green space created by artists. The Kiliku is a small hawk that lives on the Ilaló volcano. It's a local symbol of freedom, seeing reality from high above. It means that Casa Kiliku helps yogis to distance themselves from everyday life and fly into the experience of living in a yoga ashram, while enjoying the surrounding green garden with flowers and old trees.

You can stay on the terrace and chat with others, lay in a hammock to read, or meditate among the trees that sway in the wind. Accommodation will be in double and triple rooms.

Programme

Certification

Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students will receive certificate affiliated with Yoga Alliance and Yoga Alliance International. Registration with these two organizations provides a globally recognized credential.

Tantra yoga works with deep relaxation. Students learn the feeling of flowing into the asanas without struggle, developing a deep form of yoga meditation. This technique is completed by the practice of bandhas, pranayama, mantra chanting, sitting meditation, and kundalini kriyas. Students explore Tantra yogic lifestyle, philosophy, and arts. Together, you will discover ways in which to implement the yoga experience into everyday life.

Through the Tantra teachings, students learn about the energetic exchange between Shiva and Shakti, the two polarities, and how to integrate sexual energy into their yoga exploration. Through Kundalini yoga, you deeply explore the pranayama techniques used in Kundalini, Tantra yoga, and the chakras system. You practice specific kryas to feel chakras and work with their energy. Tantra yoga methodology, Ayurvedic walking massage, and partner yoga are also part of the program.

Kaula Tantra yoga

Tantra Yoga is a holistic cosmovision which contains not only asanas and pranayama, but also includes the arts, medicine and astrology to form the tantric way of life.

In Durga’s Tiger School of Tantra Yoga Shamanism, they teach different approaches to work on the physical, and also offer a vision of what it means to lead a tantric lifestyle.

Their Tantra yoga is traditional. They work with asanas, bandhas, pranayama, mudras, and mantras based on the teachings of Bhagavan Shanmuka Anantha Natha. The traditional form is unique because it changes not only the physical, but impacts the psychological and spiritual realms as well.

Partner yoga

With partner yoga you will discover the joy and the importance of support and of being supported. The challenge is to take care of the sacred space dancing between you and your partner, and experience the joy of giving and receiving. You will practice in silence to not distract the other senses from the flow of the practice and concentration in one-self and also in the other.

In these classes you will keep on working on many asanas of the Kaula Tantra yoga series, using the approach of tantric wisdom, in which you will focus on presence, senses, connection, body communication, creating this way the dance of Shiva and Shakti.

Intuitive anatomy and physiology

You will approach the vision and methodology of the Kaula Tantra yoga practice in the classes of intuitive anatomy and physiology in which you will develop a connection with your inner body intelligence, learn how to read it better, and act according to its current needs. It’s about the combined powers of the mind and the physical body and the effect of being totally in harmony with the messages you perceive form your body each moment.

Applied tantric wisdom

The applied tantric wisdom classes are an opportunity of self discovery. As the course is based on experience, you will create active and participative classes where you will work on some of the main aspects of Tantra.

Durga’s tiger dance

Durga’s tiger dance, a form of movement developed by Iris Disse based on yoga energy work and different dance styles, is another form through which students deepen their creativity and relaxation in body movement. The training also involves voice work through mantra chanting.

Students are given time for self-study, reflection, and practice teaching tantra yoga classes with each other. During the course of the month students also complete a written project. During theory and practical learning courses students experience a deep personal work, exploring themselves with applied tantra philosophy, art, shamanism, and Durga’s tiger dance.

Shamanic clown

Shamanic clown is an energetic training that combines improvisation, clowning, dancing, musical or rhythm work, meditation, and practical shamanism, among other things. This work is a fusion of tools and experiences that can be used in art and life.

Get in touch with your inner child and intuition, develop the right side of the brain and lateral thinking, release patterns and blockages, open your ears and eyes to the present moment and to others, work in groups in more effective and loving ways, and increase your creativity and artistic skills by looking at things in a completely new perspective.

The clown is an archetype that repeats its presence throughout many cosmovisions in human history, east to west, ancient and contemporary. The main role of this character is to act in a way that is different from the ordinary and accepted, sometimes precisely the opposite, in order to raise the awareness of ordinary people through play. Clowning involves deep transformation. It’s a kind of shamanism that will reflect positively in the creation of your life and relationships.

Karma yoga

Karma yoga is part of the learning process of community life. You help each other to maintain common spaces and materials, you take care of the Pachamama (Earth). Through Karma yoga you keep in contact with the earth and its fruits as you contribute to the well being and learning of the group.

As you will be living in Ecuador with a huge indigenous population, you will also have the opportunity to learn about the Andean culture, its cosmovision, and its similarities with Eastern cultures. During the course, shamanistic energy concepts are explored together with the Tibetan tantric tradition. There are parallels in how these two different traditions understand energy, astrology, subtle anatomy, and physiology.

Living in the ashram enables students to focus intensively on their training, away from everyday tasks and distractions, fully immersing themselves in a process of learning and self-discovery. Students discover the joy of deeply engaging in yogic practice and lifestyle without their usual responsibilities and the business of daily life. A close and energetic group environment is created to enable students to share their experience and learning process and thus collectively deepen their understanding of the yoga practice.
