This week is all about balance. You can see the body as a vessel through which you can express your authentic self. You will know that you have to take care of it but this isn’t always easy in a more yang-like (male) orientated society. Too much energy is flowing outward and up towards the brain trying to solve problems and deal with obstacles by thinking. This retreat is hosted at the Mandali Retreat Center. Mandali is a peaceful retreat center, established on a mountaintop, overlooking Lago d’Orta in Italy. It is an open space dedicated to spiritual practice and personal transformation. Mandali provides an optimal environment to exchange and receive teachings, wisdom and guidance from some of the world’s most inspiring teachers.

The location is a result of an extended search. When the founders saw the view from the mountain top, it accelerated their hearts. They realized they had found the perfect place. Building this place is their dream and heartfelt intention; to create a place of quiet beauty, to learn, and to relax.

%They built the place from scratch. Its architecture is a faithful reflection of the ancient villages by which it is surrounded. The center breathes a soothing, serene atmosphere and offers its guests a guiding hand. You will fall in love with nature, find balance in the elements, and feel harmony with your true self.

Everyone wants to be happy and happiness can easily be embraced but you forget that sadness and more difficult emotions to deal with are also part of your human experience. The reaction to emotions, you can easily identify with (conditioning) causes the feeling of being unsatisfied and causes you to suffer (dukkha). If you start to ignore your true feelings out of fear, this energy start to manifest and houses itself somewhere in your body.

By practicing Yin yoga, you will restore the more Yin (feminine) side of your being. By staying in poses for a period of time (three to seven minutes), you will stimulate Chi flow. This vital force energy is essential for your overall well-being.

Emotional blockage and tension in the body will solve and have a change to get released causing a calming effect on the nervous system. With your muscles completely relaxed, you will have the time to turn inward and become the observer of all that comes and goes (Anicca).

You will learn to let go and start to see the impermanence of your thoughts, feeling, emotions, and sensory abilities. A Yin yoga practice also works on the deeper layers of your physical body creating mobility in your joints, and the morning Yang practice will strengthen the muscles and create flexibility.

Daphne will guide you through the morning practice with dynamic Yang practice based on the Ashtanga-Vinyasa system and Yin yoga. The afternoon program includes pranayama and Yin yoga. Meditation will be practiced in the morning and afternoon.

    Daphne’s search in the outside world has brought her to the inner world. In 2008, she decided to take the Ashtanga yoga teacher training with Johan Noorloos and Marcel van de Vis Heil. This decision has proven to be very important to her. She continued the advanced training with the help of Anat Geiger. Although Daphne was trained in many styles of yoga such as free style Vinyasa and Hatha Restorative, she now only teaches and practices Ashtanga, Yin yoga, meditation, and mindfulness. In these practices, she finds the perfect balance between Yin and Yang qualities.

The retreat will be held in Quarna Sopra, Italy. Mandali is set 850 meters above sea level, overlooking Lago d’ Orta in Italy, the site faces southeast, enjoying the morning sun rising over the Mottarone mountain range across the lake. The classic feng shui dream of enjoying the inspiration of the sun, lake, and valley in front of you, whilst being supported and protected by the buildings, trees, and gardens behind is a functioning reality at Mandali.

To complete your retreat, you will be served with daily vegetarian light breakfast, brunch, and dinner. Fruits, snacks, and filtered water will also be served.

During your free time, you can enjoy your own rhythm and choose what suits you best. Relax in your room, take a forest walk, enjoy the sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, or take a swim in the heated indoor swimming pool.

A good massage can feel wonderful, help integrate all level of experience, and liberate your body from the tightness and holdings that keep pulling you backwards. There are various types of massages available at Mandali’s Body Care Center, such as Lomi Lomi (traditional Hawaiian), deep tissue massage, cranial sacral, and intuitive bodywork.

Massage sessions can be booked at an additional cost. Full information on the massage type and therapist of your choice can be obtained at the reception.

    "You won't find studios more beautiful and serene than the many Delight locations. The roster is impressive, boasting not only a variety of styles, but also a spectrum of wonderful teaching personalities. The only fault I can find (if there is one) is that some classes can be quite large. If you want to focus on your practice relatively uninterrupted, then you're all good! If you want to receive more direction in your practice, just be sure you go consistently to the same teacher/class, or choose smaller classes. In any case, I wish I lived closer to a Delight studio, and I'd recommend it to everyone who has access."
