    Yoga Alliance International (Yoga)

    Susan practiced and trained in Iyengar Hatha yoga for many years, starting in the mid 70s. She qualified as a yoga teacher in 1990. She later went on to study and further train with Ruth White and gained an additional teaching certificate in Karuna Yoga, recognized by Yoga Alliance and Wheel of Yoga. She now lives in South Sinai, where she teaches local people as well as visitors to the region. She incorporates some of the acquired knowledge into her teaching to help her students to find the correct way to practice in order to reap maximum benefit of the yoga.

    Sara has been practicing Kundalini yoga since 2003 and attributes her personal practice to her phenomenal success in breath hold diving. Through the mediums of yoga, meditation, and breath hold diving, Sara teaches people to live boldly. She is passionate about transforming and helping people achieve their dreams and live more fulfilled, peaceful, joyful, successful, and loving. Through her programs, she has brought hundreds of people to discover their own potential through awareness and breath.

The yoga retreat will take place in Dahab, Egypt. Translating as ‘gold’ in Arabic, Dahab is a place of unique beauty, surrounded by world class coral reefs, beautiful beaches, rugged mountains, and the vast desert landscapes. Formerly a Bedouin fishing village, this sleepy town is situated on the southeast coast of the Sinai Peninsula, just an hour's transfer from Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport (SSH).

Travelers return over and over again to enjoy the relaxed bohemian vibe and year round sun. Dahab has so much to offer, choose to relax at one of the many restaurants and cafe’s on the seafront, dive in the fantastic coral reefs, participate in watersports or activities, explore the surrounding landscape, or join one of the many wellness concepts that are all the rage.

Coral Coast Hotel is nestled on the shores of the Gulf of Aqaba with its own private beach that boast dramatic views of the Sinai and Saudi Arabian Mountains. Watching the sun rise and set is one of Coral Coast’s natural splendors. Along the fringe of the shoreline, you will find a stunning coral reef and nearby the famous Eel Garden, where you not only see the namesake of the reef a carpet of sand eels swaying in the gentle current, but also a whole host of colorfully vibrant flora and fauna.

The Hotel is located at the quieter Northern end of town, but only 10 minutes’ walk away to the hub of Dahab beach life, where you will find plenty of bazaars selling local crafts and many diverse restaurants and bars.

Additional activities

Camel trek (full day)

Enjoy a snorkeling trip on a coastal camel trek to Ras Abu Galum with its high mountains, wadis, fresh water springs, picturesque sand dunes, and undisturbed coral reef. It is one of the most beautiful national parks in Egypt. Lunch is freshly prepared within the beach hut location while you discover the amazing underwater world.

Desert yoga safari (full day)

The Sinai deserts sheer natural beauty and uplifting energy is ideal for practicing yoga. Focus on your mind, body, and soul, with some light trekking, giving time for inner silence with serene surroundings of plateaus, rolling sand dunes, and canyons. Sunset meditation is the idyllic, wind down to the day. Lunch is freshly prepared in the desert camp served around the camp fire.

Horse riding (per hour)

The horse riding is suitable for all abilities, whether you are an experienced rider or a novice looking for a different experience. Choose to journey down to Dahab Laguna, where you can enjoy the fresh air and beautiful coastline, or take a trail inland. Whether you want to gallop along the waters edge or take a gentle trot, this is a great way to spend an afternoon.

Saint Catherines and Mount Sinai trip (full day)

Saint Catherines monastery lies just at the base of Mount Sinai and is still a working monastery to this very day. Learn about the myths that surround the mystical monastery, reports of angels, and the famous Burning Bush. Climb the famous Mount Sinai where it is said that Moses received the "10 commandments”, and enjoy the stunning panoramic view from its peak as you watch the magical sunset.

Scuba diving (half day)

Try to breath underwater and discover scuba diving (for certified divers, Coral Coast Yoga offers PADI guided dive)

Snorkeling (half day or full day)

Dahab is home to many amazing coral reefs and abundant with marine life. The famous Blue Hole is renowned for the reef formation, where there is a stretch of coastline with beautiful corals. You have the option for a half or full day trip and discover the stunning underwater world that surrounds Dahab.

Art of the sword (per hour)

This Japanese sword discipline dates back to the days of the samurai, although the swordsmanship and techniques are used today in a form of well-being. Combining meditation, stretching, choreography, and vocal skills, these classes are ideal for de-stressing, toning the body, and a certain amount of self-defence.

Iyengar yoga (per treatment)

Iyengar yoga is a form of Hatha yoga that has an emphasis on detail, precision, and alignment in the performance of posture (asana) and breath control (pranayama). A number of different props are used in Iyengar since emphasis is given to alignment and precision in every posture.

Kundalini yoga (per hour)

Kundalini yoga is considered the most comprehensive of yoga traditions, combining meditation, mantra, physical exercises, and breathing techniques. It is a Raj yoga, encompassing the eight limbs of yoga into a singular practice of excellence and ecstasy. There are a number of Kundalini classes scheduled throughout the week, that you can join to enhance your yoga holiday experience.

Qigong (per hour)

Qigong is an integration of physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intentions. The word ‘qi-gong’ is comprised of two separate characters, ‘qi’ meaning energy, and ‘gong’ meaning cultivation or effort. Qi Gong is a form of gentle exercise composed of movements that are repeated a number of times, often stretching the body. Beach and studio session are held weekly.

Sadhana meditation (per session)

This beautiful early Sadhana meditation is the ultimate way to start your day. Staring with meditation while a recited prayer flows in the background, yoga asanas with relaxation and end with a powerful session of chanting, this session is blissful. Check the weekly schedule to see whether the session will be held, either on the beach, within the bedouin tent, or in the studio.

Zumba (per hour)

Zumba is a fusion of Latin and international music combined with a heart pumping cardio workout. The focus is on having fun in a party like atmosphere. Zumba is truly for anyone who can stand up and dance. Dance is a very liberal term here, as no dance experience or skills are necessary. The hour long Zumba classes begin with a dynamic warm up and end with a cool down.

For some people, meditation is regarded as the mental concentration of something, whilst others consider meditation as a state of imagination that gives them peace or satisfaction. All these methods have one goal, to slow down and eventually completely stop the incessant activity of your mind.

Reiki sessions (per hour)

Reiki session works with your life force energy and help to align and release any negative blockages. Reiki is Japanese for Rei (universal) and Ki (life force energy). The Reiki masters pass on “Ki” by laying hands over the body and channeling energy to activate natural healing, whether emotional or physical and also to stimulate the body’s immune system.

Sudanesse beauty treatments (per treatment)

Sherin provides a range of traditional Egyptian and Sudanese wellness and beauty treatments exclusively for women, knowledge of which has been passed down from generation to generation by the “Haboba” or grandmother.
