During this retreat, you may stay either in a shared or private room. Your home for the duration of the retreat will be a traditional French-style chalet home, complete with restored wooden-beamed ceilings, oak-wood flooring, and a roll-top bathtub. Professional cook and friendly host and yogi, Kat, will make you feel instantly welcome and relaxed.
If you choose the shared accommodation in the downstairs communal living space, you will stay in either the cute snook which includes a double bed which suitable for singles or couples, a library, a bedside table, a lamp, and a window to the gardens. If you would prefer a single bed in the princess room, it comprises two single beds, two bedside tables, and two windows with views to the garden.
There is also a renovated basement area with either one or two beds available, both of which come with a bedside table and lamps though they don't have windows to the garden. If you would prefer a private room in the main house, you would sleep upstairs with a complete en-suite bathroom, a king size bed with a luxury mattress, and a walk-in shower. You may also choose a double room with a Mediterranean tiled bath.
The downstairs living area has been designed with the idea of community, connection, and openness which Kat believes are the key teachings of true yoga in an effort to help you shed your protective layers and false ideas of separateness and isolation. Rather than using traditional wooden doors to separate the rooms, Kat has used a selection of charming and bohemian drapes and curtains to enhance the vibe of friendship and freedom.
A home away from home, set in the beautiful Basque Country in the north of Spain, drifting along the southern coast of France and a pebbles throw away from English shores, here you can expect to experience a truly unique mix of charming cultures where nature collides to deliver dramatic landscapes, rugged coastlines and lush green countryside, providing the perfect sanctuary for a weekend of yoga, fitness and relaxation.

The weekend is aimed at bringing you back to your source and optimal health and includes 2 daily yoga classes, lots of walking by the ocean, which the Basque people believe is the secret to good health and long lives, healthy home-made food cooked with ingredients from the family farm and local organic stores. The boutique yoga studio is a 20 minute walk far from the house, mindful walks in the morning and evening set the tone and enhance your fitness while helping to work-up an appetite. Yoga is dynamic but accessible, Kat teaches a flowing form of vinyasa yoga that energises every cell or your being alongside Buddhist meditation techniques, yoga nidra and more relaxing classes on the evenings include yin yoga and restorative yoga. You can expect to be challenged in the most wonderful way as you go within, purify your body and reset your mind.
Meals are loving cooked by family chef, Aira, which are heavily influenced by her husband's award winning cuisine in the Basque Country. Vegetable tapas dishes melt the taste buds while firm favourites such as vegetable moussaka and chilli ensure you are well nourished and full of energy for the days activities.
Buddhist principles can be felt throughout the retreat as guests are asked to respect their dharma, helping to clear away dishes, live mindfully of other students, observe an over-night period of silent, technology detox and before-bed meditation.
Guests can enjoy around 4 hours a day of free time in-between classes to enjoy many of the beautiful coastal walks, museums, beaches and the delightful silence that soothes the area into a stillness that is truly priceless.
This is a retreat for enthusiastic and open-minded people who truly want to commit to a life-enhancing 3 days.
Guests are asked to remain open and flexible to any changes that may occur, for example, if the weather is glorious, you may start and finish your morning practice earlier or you may feel the need to skip evening meditation at the house and go for a walk along the seafront and drink an optional glass of wine.
La Casa Del Yoga is located in the beautiful seaside town of Las Arenas, 20 minutes away from the cultural hub of Bilbao in the Basque country.

Three vegetarian meals on Friday and Saturday, breakfast on the Sunday, and all beverages are included in the price. Breakfasts give soothing herbal teas, sweetest oranges, tortilla and Kats magic dairy free Bircher muesli, soaked in orange juice and filled with freshly grated apple and cinnamon, honey and goji berries, served in jars. Lunch is all ready for you too, simple but delicious pitta breads with lettuce, red cabbage, chopped olives and carrot, dressed in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and lemon. Dinner is incredible veggie moussaka (which everyone vows to recreate the minute they get home) with gratin potatoes, roasted Mediterranean vegetables plus sliced oranges with pistachio and cinnamon for desert.
