During this teacher training program, you will be staying at the Association for Yoga and Meditation School. The school provides residential accommodations to its students. They can choose a single room or shared room according to their requirement. There is a private bathroom with shower and geyser facilities in both rooms. The rooms are kept clean and hygienic.

Clean bedsheets, pillow-covers, and pillows are provided to make students feel good and happy. The rooms are airy and well-light through sunshine that comes through the window in each room. Facilities include free Wi-Fi and a filtered water system.


The 200-hour Hatha yoga course includes the practice of Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, and Iyengar. Together with the practice of the various asanas, you will also be explained of all their benefits. The course will improve your strength, flexibility, and strength. You will also experience a change within you which will lead you towards the path of enlightenment.

You will learn to live the lifestyle of an ashram which in turn, will help cultivate health, happiness, and freedom from stress in your life. The yoga classes include asanas or postures, pranayama or breathing, meditation, mudras, bandhas, and kriyas, which includes both practice and lecture theory. The intensive teacher training course also includes teaching methodology, yogic anatomy, physiology, and yogic philosophy. You will also be given a teaching kit.

The course includes learning postures such as Samasthiti or Tadasana, Ashwasanchalanasana, the plank pose, Adho mukha swanasana or downdog, Ardha chandrasana or standing backbend, the cobra pose, Vrksha asana or the tree pose, Trikonasana or the triangle, Virabhadrasana or the warrior, Parsvakonasana or the side angle, Utthita parsvottanasna or the intense side stretching pose, and Parivartita trikonasana or the evolving triangle pose.

You will also learn Prasarita padottanasana or spreading the leg forward bend, Uthita Hasta padangustasana, Uttanasana or padahastasana, Utkatasana or the chair pose, Marichiasana, Janusirasana, Urdhva mukha svanasana, Trinmuhkapaschimmotanasana, Paschimottanasana, Purvottanasana, Mastendrasana, Upavistasana, Navasana, Badhakonasana, Urdhva paschimottanasana, chaturangadndasana, Salbhasana, and Dhanurasana.

Adding up are Ustrasana, Setubendhasana, Sputa padangusthasana, Chakrasana or the wheel pose, Vipreetakarniasana, Sarvangasana, Halasana, Karnapeedasana, Matsyasana, Sirshasna, Savasana, and Padmasana.

The 200-hour Hatha yoga teacher training course is suitable for every level, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. AYM is now a well-known ashram for teaching yoga. The school is registered with Yoga Alliance USA and after graduating, you can be a professionally certified as a yoga teacher in any part of the world. It is also registered with the World Yoga Council and International Yoga Federation.

AYM is the oldest yoga teacher training school founded in 2005 in Rishikesh, having experienced yoga teachers, a team with RYT 500 and over 10 to 20 years of teaching experience in various yoga styles.

The teacher training course is unique with its global recognition, teachings of asana alignment, the art of hands-on adjustment, the science of sequencing, the use of props such as ropes, blocks, and straps, the art of modifying the posture, and confidence development through teaching the practice.

To get your 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate, you must attend the four-week course that has six modules in it. In case you have done any of the six modules, a theory and practical test will be conducted and your behavior during your stay at school will be noticed. Assignments and their submission on time will also be recorded. Accordingly, you will be marked and a fee waiver will be given to you on that basis.


Upon completion, you will have a yoga diploma for the 200-hour yoga teacher training, and it is Internationally recognized by Yoga Alliance USA and International Yoga Federation. The course is also certified by the Indian Yoga Alliance for 200-hour yoga teacher training. After successful completion of the training, you can register with Yoga Alliance USA. For registration, you need to login to their website, and after filling needed information, you will get registered.

Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga is one of the oldest forms of yoga which emphasizes the balance of the body and mind. It is a way of purifying the body and awakening pranic energy which is found in ancient Indian Vedic culture. In recent years, it has become more and more popular as a great way of improving fitness levels and as a form of treatment for many ailments.

The classes are based on ancient traditional yoga and lead by a very experienced teacher. The instructor will explain approximately 50 to 60 asanas in precise and thorough detail and will be teaching how to enter into a pose and how to come out of a pose, the correct alignment of poses, correct usage of props, including benefits of using props, how to assist others and correct various faults, the benefits of each pose, and other various benefits of yoga.

The classes also include sequencing. During the course, there will be a strong emphasis on developing good alignment skills in each student along with the knowledge of each asana.

Ashtanga Vinyasa

Ashtanga Vinyasa is a modern version of Hatha yoga taught by Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, which involves a dynamic flow of asana, breathing techniques, bandhas, and dristi. It works accordingly to develop strength and flexibility simultaneously. The 200-hour course includes Ashtanga primary series originally as taught in Mysore, India, and entitles you to 200 hours of Ashtanga Vinyasa teacher training in India.

Outline of syllabus

There will be three practice sessions on Hatha yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, pranayama, and meditation every day along with one teaching practice session and two theoretical sessions on philosophy and anatomy. In Hatha class, the yoga master teacher will explain the meaning, method, alignment, and benefits of a hundred poses in the training course. The instructor will explain how to correct each pose with student involvement.

Module one will explain the philosophy, meaning, definition, and types of yoga. You will learn what is not yoga and answer the question, "Is yoga a religion?" You will learn about the classification, origin, and history of yoga, and the definition and different components of Hatha yoga.

You will learn about Ashtanga yoga and the description of its eight components as well as those of Ashtanga Vinyasa. You will discuss the anatomy and physiology of Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa, yoga sutra, Hatha yoga pradipika, Geeta, and Vedas.

On module two, you will learn about asana and its meaning. You will discuss the methodology of asana and its three stages according to Patanjali, their classifications and number, static and dynamic and their physiology, meditative and cultural asanas, their anatomy and physiology, methods, contra-indications, alignment, correction of the fault, the practice of over 100 asanas, and explanation of Ashtanga series.

On module three, about pranayama and its classification, you will learn about the meaning and definition of pranayama, the practice of the eight basic pranayamas and their variations, different types of breathing, classifications, physiological understanding of yogic breathing, and you will answer the question, "Does pranayama increase oxygen and life force?"

On module four, about meditation and its classifications, you will discuss the mechanism, challenges, procedures on how to prepare for meditation, short and long term, the time and place for meditation, different techniques, effect on body and mind, anatomy and physiology, and changing meditation techniques after three days of practice.

On module five, teaching and learning will be discussed. You will learn about the components, methods of yoga teaching, characteristics of good teaching, methods to improve, lesson planning, principles of lesson planning, the art of instructing during teaching practices, class and student management, feedback, and improvement.

Module six will be about shat kriya and their classifications. You will learn the definition of kriyas or yogic detox, the use of detoxification in healing, Jala Neti or nasal cleansing with water, Sutra Neti or nasal cleansing with sutra, Sankhaprachalena or GIT wash, and the physiological understanding of yogic detoxification.

Dr. Sumit
Dr. Sumit has learned yoga and is an expert in the fields of physical therapy, posture imbalance, and sedentary life disorders. He has a Master’s degree in Physical therapy, with a focus on orthopedy and a diploma in Sports Medicine as well as a trained Pilate’s instructor from the Indian Academy of Fitness Training. He teaches Yoga combining with Therapy and Human Physiology. Due to his teaching style, he is very popular amongst our students as he conveys in-depth and practical knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology.
Yogacharya Mahesh Bhatt
Yogacharya Mahesh Bhatt has done a P.G. Diploma and Master in Yogic Sciences. He was awarded a Gold medal due to his excellent academic performance. He is currently teaching Yoga Therapy along with Ayurveda and Philosophy.
Jayakumaran Annasamy
Jayakumaran began his yogic journey in 2007. He emphasized on becoming a yoga master focusing on Spiritual Yoga, Yoga Precision, and Alignment. He then met Parveen Nair to guide him further on Iyengar Yoga and became his student. He studied 3 years Iyengar Yoga Method and also attended many yoga workshops which were run by Parveen Nair and Rina Ortiz which enhanced his knowledge and practice.

During this teacher training program, three daily meals will be provided for you by AYM School Rishikesh. Ayurvedic food is served, completely vegetarian Indian food and full of healing properties. The food is easy to digest and helps in maintaining good health while providing complete nutrition and improving stamina and immunity.

The Ayurvedic food also helps recover from various pains and injuries. Indian herbal spices such as turmeric powder, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger are used to cook food as those have medicinal properties which help in recovering from ailments and provide antibodies to the body to fight diseases.

For a refreshing morning, masala tea will be served early in the morning and after the yoga class. The food is prepared hygienically and with organic properties. Each meal is prepared according to the requirement of the Hatha yoga course.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). Thereafter, you will need to take another flight to Dehradun Airport (DED). Transfer from and to the airport is available upon request.

Arrival by bus

To reach Rishikesh from Delhi via bus, you need to go to an Inter State Bus Terminal or ISBT. The bus ride will take around seven to eight hours.

Arrival by train

If you wish to travel by train, take a train from Delhi Railway Station to Haridwar, and from there, you can catch a bus to Rishikesh. The bus travels from Harodwar to Rishikesh in approximately 29 kilometers.

Arrival by taxi

From Delhi, it will cost you 80 USD for a single ride and 60 USD for a one-way shared ride. From Dehradun, it will cost you 20 USD.
