Aventuras del Sur's guest stays at the Finca. It is five minutes of driving from the beach and 15 minutes from Tarifa town. The rooms have a terrace with incredible views. Aventuras del Sur has a different kind of accommodation, depending on the number of persons. There are double rooms with private bathroom for two persons or private apartment fully equipped for four, five, or six persons (all rooms have views of Africa), but also you can have your own private room, or share a twin room with another yogi.
Aventuras del Sur at the Costa de la Luz began from a familiar dream that was forged with determination, illusion, and patience. The love for horses and nature has brought Aventuras del Sur here, giving birth to this beautiful project that is shared with the world.
You are invited to la Costa de la Luz, in Tarifa, where you will enjoy horseback riding, yoga, and meditation, and paths along the beach and the mountains, immersed in the silence and purest nature.
Aventuras del Sur started off as a family dream 30 years ago, Paco, the horseback riding guide, started the family business breeding and training the first horses and building his family home. Step by step, Aventuras del Sur realized the dream with patient, love, and effort. Love to the horses and the beautiful nature surrounding Aventuras del Sur has been the driving force of Aventuras del Sur's pursuit. In addition, Aventuras del Sur is close to beautiful beaches and cities such as Tarifa, Algeciras, or Cadiz.
Aventuras del Sur, as a family and also your yoga teacher live in other apartments in the same house. You will experience this country lifestyle, as Aventuras del Sur is a running farm, taking care of the horses, the gardens, and the house, as well as preparing the school snacks for their youngest one. Victoria, the mother of the family, is a fundamental piece of the team. She delights the guests with traditional Andalusian food prepared with vegetables from the garden. She will make you feel at home. Besides, the family, friends, and volunteers contribute to the realization of the family dream.
Aventuras del Sur wishes to offer you an unforgettable holiday of horseback riding, practicing yoga, hiking in the untouched nature, or simply enjoying the calmness and peace of the place.
This week is just for you to escape from the daily hustle and the European winter, to relax, practice or learn yoga, and do horse riding and hiking in beautiful nature at one of the last wild Spanish coasts where nature meets the ocean and where the sun shines almost every day. You can have tasty Mediterranean (vegetarian) food, exciting conversations, a good book, a walk around the farm, a visit of Tarifa, sitting on the beach (in cozy warm clothes), or watching the waves roll in.
Begin your day with a nourishing meditation in Aventuras del Sur's sea view shala followed by a heating and cleansing yoga session, connecting your body with your breath and so with your mind. Step out at the terrace, breathing in the salty ocean breeze, mingled with the fine scent of the pine tree forests, let your eyes stroll over the rocky hill to the silver colored sea, glistening in the morning sun, and just listen to the silence.
Then, you enjoy your breakfast accompanied by a healthy green smoothy in Aventuras del Sur's cozy dining room and prepare yourself for an adventurous horseback ride on Aventuras del Sur's free-living horses guided by the expert Paco, who has more than 10 years of experience in that region and will know how to surprise you.
Discover the tranquillity you will feel while trotting through the wild nature of the mountains or along the beach on the back of your horse. For everyone who once went on a horseback ride, this experience is unforgettable.
Every second day, you will be taken on exciting walks (instead of the rides) in silence or in laughter to peaceful places with breathtaking views over the coastal line and all the way to Africa. One of this walks will include a meditation.
After a picnic-style lunch (on the trip or back "home", lunch is optional), you have your late afternoons free to just relax in the garden or the cozy living room, reading, chatting, or going to visit the vibrant town of Tarifa or watching the kite surfers on the Tarifa beach during the sunset.
Aventuras del Sur offers 2 restorative afternoon yoga classes on demand, depending on your needs. Some groups like to escape and explore the area; there is plenty to see and some like to have more time on their mats.
To all who come here, Aventuras del Sur offers an experience of profound beauty, wholesomeness, wellbeing, human warmth, down-to-earth family life, respect (for the human beings as well as for all the animals that enjoy a free life on the farm), and care. The group size will be no more than 8 people, so you can get the attention you need and make new friends easier.
The practice of yoga and meditation will help you to restore the body for the rides, also, they will help you find your calm. Soul, mind, and body will be renewed and full of energy after the week. The yoga teacher is Pia, from Germany. She guides the classes in English and also speaks fluent Spanish and some French.
This Ashtanga Vinyasa based yoga sessions are suitable for beginners to intermediate levels and are a journey of mindfulness and experience living in the present moment through the practice of the asanas.
You practice Ahimsa (non-violence) with regard to body, speech, and mind. For your yoga practice, that means with regard to your own body.
"Don't think that perfecting an asana (yoga posture) makes a good practice. Don't think like that. Getting up and being on your mat and just doing what you can, that is sufficient and that is your best practice." - R. Sharath Jois
Aventuras del Sur wants to encourage you to join this adventure here by just being who you are and by practicing what you can and whatever feels good for your body. Nevertheless, intermediate students will also enjoy the practice by constantly increasing their flexibility and by enjoying their maybe daily Ashtanga practice in combination with the wild surrounding ocean and nature.
In summer, the schedule will change. As it gets very hot during the day, the horse riding tours will be in the morning, and only two hours.
This letter is to serve as a recommendation for Pia.
I have spent sometime with Pia and have great faith in her ability to effectively teach yoga in a safe, comfortable environment.
She is a very special person and yoga teacher, enthusiastic and supportive of the student, maintaining a professional but compassionate way of teaching. She is prompt, organized, and always good at teaching each student with patience along with a solid knowledge of the foundations of yoga.
Pia has a very patient and supportive teaching style. She guides her students in building awareness of proper form and breathing in the yoga poses.. She is especially good at organizing her classes to accommodate the varied expertise levels that one may find when teaching classes and lead students though an enjoyable and safe class.
Her command of the yoga discipline is great and her ability to convey the complex positions superb. She has a very good practice and understanding that convey in her classes very well.
I am consistently impressed with her dedication and gentle compassion.
If I was considering a yoga class, I couldnt recommend Pia more highly.
-Raquel - Course Facilitator and primary teacher
Pia is a dedicated teacher to the practices of Yoga. I was lucky enough to teach and live with Kristina on her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Spain. I was impressed by her deep caring of others, and her strong social action principles. As she is an architect she appreciates structure and stability and therefore has a great grasp of Asana practice. She has an eagle eye and an annoying attention to detail !!!! All of which makes her a good teacher. When you are lucky enough to meet Pia, in life or on the mat you will know what I mean. A beautiful and very human being.
With much love.

Daily horseback rides (3 times) or hikes (2 times) to the mountains and / or beach are included in this retreat.
Francisco Trujillo is the horse guide and founder of this project, Aventuras del Sur. He started 35 years ago when building this place in the village where he was born and acquired his first horses. He learned to ride in his childhood and has an authentic own stile. He looks like a cowboy sometimes. The horses live free in the natural park where he lives. This means that they are relaxed and calm. The horses know all the land here better than him. Francisco has 17 horses for different levels. He will help you to choose the best one for you.
Inspira Yoga London Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Ashtanga Yoga)
Pia is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher (Ashtanga Vinyasa based), world traveler, mover, and lover of life and of ancient traditions (as the Mayan or Inca people). Born in Germany, she is living to travel the world and share her loving kindness and patience to all beings. Being a late starter, it was not long ago that she experienced her spiritual awakening in the ancient mountains of the mystic mountains of Guatemala at the magic lace Atitlan, surrounded by active volcanoes. She was on the yoga path long before being conscious about it though. She practices the path of Karma yoga.
