Create lifelong memories and immerse yourself in the warm and colorful culture of Gambia. You will enjoy your practice in a warm and friendly environment with the tranquil sound of bird song in the background. The natural essence and scenery makes this retreat an ideal place to relax, unwind, and connect with nature. If you want to escape from your monotonous and stressful lifestyle, then join Footsteps Yoga Gambia for this lovely yoga getaway.
You will be accommodated in Footsteps Eco Lodge on a twin or single occupancy basis. It is a small Gambian accommodation situated at Gunjur, in the bush and by the beach, where you will find hundreds of birds and some of the most stunning scenery in Gambia, while providing you with a "home away from home".
Footsteps Yoga Gambia has a purpose-built yoga area set back from their lodge. In just under an acre of its own grounds with fruiting trees (oranges, bananas, avocado, grapefruit, and lemons), flowers, mature trees, and an abundance of birdlife, this is the best place for your perfect tranquil yoga holiday.
There will be a two-hour yoga session before breakfast, a workshop after breakfast, then a yoga session in the evening at sunset time. During this retreat, you will be with your breath, watch your mind, let go of tension, be in the moment, and come back to the constant that is the breath. This process will help you to find contentment, to be at peace, and to draw closer to the stillness.
This yoga holiday will help you to clear your mind and become stress-free. It is suitable for all grades of practitioner, from beginners to those more experienced and advanced.
This retreat will take place in Gunjur, The Gambia, West Africa. The Gambia has clear blue skies, and golden sandy beaches that stretch for miles and lush green nature reserves. The Gambia is small and narrow and its borders mirror the Gambia River. Approximately, 11.5% of The Gambia’s area is covered by water. It is the smallest country on the continent of Africa.

You will be served healthy breakfasts and three-course vegetarian dinner. Meat and fish are available at extra cost. Footsteps Eco-Lodge's bar and restaurant are open all day for food and drinks. There will be snacks and delicious local and European meals with fresh local produce. The cuisine uses lots of fresh herbs which, combined with locally grown produce, are lovingly prepared by inspired chefs to make your holiday in Gambia be the one to remember.
Footsteps Yoga Gambia is proud of their Gambian menu and that their food and drinks are sourced locally from reputable suppliers. Their menus vary each day to use seasonal produce.
Their fruit and vegetables are bought from neighboring farmers and their bread is baked early morning by local bakers (the local senfu is just like a warm French baguette). Some of their produce is grown by their gardener Kunjang Bass at the lodge and delivered to their open-view kitchen just moments before your food is prepared.
Footsteps Eco-Lodge's European food benefits from the wonderful quality and freshness that comes via a climate of long sunny days and plentiful water. Gambian food dishes are full of flavour, usually a little spicy, like domada (a peanut and chili stew), yassa (a mustard and onion sauce), and benachin (which is similar to a risotto).
Wake up and find tea, coffee, and fresh local juices waiting for you at the bantaba. Then, choose from the healthy food options of fresh local fruits, smoothies, muesli, and homemade jams or enjoy a traditional English breakfast of local eggs, bacon, and sausages with grilled tomatoes. Breakfast will be your perfect start to each morning while on holiday.
Each evening, Footsteps Eco-Lodge presents a three-course a la carte menu offering a choice of two starters, three main courses, and two desserts. All menus serve vegetarian, meat, fish, European, and Gambian food from which to choose.
