Flow deeper into your practice by taking this nationally recognized 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification in Vinyasa flow yoga. Based in the tradition of Ashtanga yoga, this 8-week mentorship program will steep you in yoga as a way of life. Burst from where you are and tap into a deeper love of yoga and your practice. Join a community led by Laurie Searle aka Lady Yoga. From pranayama, anatomy, philosophy and the science of Ayurveda, you will explore and leave this program with a thorough understanding of yoga.
Sunshine Hotel offers clean, simple rooms, great service, and a few extras you won't find together anywhere else.
This training will take place at Sunshine Hotel on Little Corn Island, Nicaragua. Sunshine Hotel is perfectly located near the heart of town. It's just 50 meters from the wharf where you arrive and depart the island.
The classes will be held every morning from Monday to Saturday at 08:00 and 16:00. Saturdays and Sundays will be off for self study, homework, and teaching practice.
Additional days or half days will be given throughout the program for self study, homework, and practice teaching. During this training, there will be:
Registration with the yoga alliance follows after you receive your certificate. Most 200-hour programs go way beyond actual 200 hours. These are the minimum hours for successful completion, but Firefly Yoga & Massage takes each person and their individual needs into account so that you will be the best teacher you can be.
The weather on Little Corn Island is usually amazingly sunny (bring sunscreen), and often fairly breezy. The sunniest months of the year are usually January through September. Rainy season "officially" begins in May, but that usually means occasional daily showers and full rainy days.
October and November are typically the months with a bit more rain, but still have plenty of sunny days as well. This two-month period is also the peak of the Caribbean hurricane season, but fortunately Little Corn Island has only experienced two hurricanes in over 25 years, so the odds are pretty against one during your stay, even in those months.
Keep in mind that because of the island's remote location, internet access and speeds can vary a bit subject to power and local provider availability. Free Wi-Fi is available to guests at Sunshine Hotel, and a few other island eateries and resorts.
Little Corn Island is a remote place, and power is provided locally by a single, 500-kilowatt diesel generator. A quirk of Little Corn Island is that it runs from 1 p.m. to 6 a.m. most days, and that also can vary sometimes depending on fuel resupply and maintenance.
If you need to charge your phone or laptop during off hours, nearby Tranquilo Cafe is solar powered, and offers free charging stations throughout the restaurant and bar.
You may want to bring sunscreen, flashlight / torch or headlamp, mosquito repellent, light ponco (during rainy season), sandals, swimsuit, and reusable water bottle.
Nicaraguan Córdobas and US dollars are both accepted in Nicaragua, including Little Corn Island. When using USD currency, smaller bills are most welcome at locally owned shops, and many vendors do not accept currency if they have tears in them (it's a Nicaraguan thing). There is no ATM on Little Corn Island, but there is a bank and ATM on the bigger island. A couple of Little Corn restaurants will do cash-back with Visa and MasterCard.

"I was fortunate enough to have someone tell me I had to go to Firefly to get a massage from Laurie. I had the time to do it and it was fantastic. Do yourself a favor and take the time to check out the good people at this great location. Thanks again! "

"Firefly Yoga & Massage is a blissful gem on Little Corn Island. As someone who has a fused spine and chronic pain, yoga and massage is an essential part of maintaining my health, and with that finding someone with the experience and knowledge of body to keep my joints feeling "juicy" (as Lady would say) is extremely important. Every time I would leave Firefly, whether from a group class, personal session or a massage, I feel like I just float out of the jungle paradise! Everything just feels so good! My only wish is that she lived in Brooklyn, so I could see her on a regular basis."

"The studio itself is absolutely breathtaking. It's off the beach and hidden among the lush trees of the island, making for a very calming ambiance. I'm not much of a yogi, but Lady talked me through every step of the way and I felt very comfortable and relaxed under her guidance. Such a wonderful person to be around, and very welcoming to all. If you're going to be on the island, this is one place you must treat yourself to! "
