Based in the tradition of Ashtanga yoga, this intensive mentorship program will steep you in yoga as a way of life, to work out, work in, and build awareness while building income. From pranayama, anatomy, philosophy, and the science of Ayurveda, you will explore and leave this program with a thorough understanding of yoga - what it means to you and the healing it can bring to others as a day-to-day physical and mental practice.
During the training course, you will be accommodated at Little Corn Beach and Bungalow. Situated on the beach, each bungalow has an en-suite bathroom with toilet, sink, and a hot shower (available only when village power is being utilized).
Also, the cabin has quality clean white linens (under which lie the best orthopedic beds in Nicaragua), mosquito nets, soft bath towels, beach towels (upon request), bathroom mats, mirrors, security boxes, electricity with multiple outlets, reading lights and running water.
For your comfort, all bungalows are equipped with fans (some with ceiling fans and re-chargeable power), a foot wash at the base of the stairs, sand catching floor mats, towels to clean your feet, and brooms and dust pans.
All bungalows have French doors that open on to a four by fourteen inch covered veranda. Each of the cabins has a beautiful view of the beach and the ocean.
Upon completion of this program, you will have a nationally and internationally esteemed certification you can take anywhere from your home mat to your local studio or any place where Vinyasa Flow and Hatha are offered.
The classes will be held every morning from Monday to Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays will be off for self-study, homework, and teaching practice. Additional days or half days will be given throughout the program for self-study, homework, and practice teaching.
During this training, there will be:
Registration with the Yoga Alliance follows after you receive your certificate. Most 200-hour programs go way beyond actual 200 hours. These are the minimum hours for successful completion but Firefly Yoga & Massage takes each person and their individual needs into account so that you will be the best teacher you can be.
Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 (Yoga)
Laurie Searle, also known as Lady Yoga, has been teaching yoga (E-RYT 500), Pilates, fitness training (NASM), and massage for almost two decades. She also leads teacher training nationally and internationally through the Sphota Yoga School and is the founder of F.E.D. (fight eating disorders), a non-profit, tax-exempt organization offering assistance for those suffering from eating disorders. Laurie is also the creator and writer of the comic strip, "Lady Yoga", superhero featured monthly in LA Yoga Magazine, Miami Yoga Magazine, and online at MyYogaScene.com.
This teacher training program will take place in Little Corn Island, Nicaragua. Amazingly close and incredibly inexpensive, Little Corn Island is a little known, practically untouched by tourism. No cars, motorcycles, golf carts, or airport have kept this little island one of the best kept little secret islands in the world.
|Activities ||General ||Services|
Included in the training package is daily breakfast. Turned Turtle Bar and Restaurant at Little Corn Beach and Bungalow offers lunch and dinner that start from 4.5 USD and 9 USD respectively.
The stylish bistro type restaurant is unlike any other on the island. It is not a fine dining establishment. The restaurant is more of a "no shoes, no shirt, no problem" kind of place. Comfortably lit, with a music mix that fits the time of day, the bamboo dining tables sit on either the restaurant deck three feet above the beach or right on the beach at the water’s edge.
You can expect quality service, excellent food, and a friendly greeting from one of the Nicaraguan service staff.
Meanwhile, the Turned Turtle bar features Little Corn Island delicious margaritas (huge and absolutely no mixes), big jeffs' mudhole, and the famous pina coladas. The pina coladas are quasi famous and the margaritas are all frozen, not blended which is the island norm and dilutes the flavor with melted ice.
Please book your flight to arrive at Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA). The simplest and the fastest way to get to Little Corn Island is to fly from Managua using La Costena, Nicaragua’s regional airline and arrive in Corn Island Airport (RNI) in Big Corn.
After arriving at Big Corn airport, retrieve your bags and ask one of the local cab drivers to take you to Brigg Bay to catch the panga to Little Corn. The cab ride to the bay takes less than 10 minutes and costs 1 USD per person.
On the right hand side as you pass through the harbor entrance gate is the ticket office for the panga. Purchase your tickets here and pay your 3 NIO (about 0.12 USD) harbor tax. The panga transfer costs 180 NIO or 7 USD one way. Purchase your ticket prior to boarding. They will collect your ticket and hand out life jackets when you are on the boat.
"I was fortunate enough to have someone tell me I had to go to Firefly to get a massage from Laurie. I had the time to do it and it was fantastic. Do yourself a favor and take the time to check out the good people at this great location. Thanks again! "

"Firefly Yoga & Massage is a blissful gem on Little Corn Island. As someone who has a fused spine and chronic pain, yoga and massage is an essential part of maintaining my health, and with that finding someone with the experience and knowledge of body to keep my joints feeling "juicy" (as Lady would say) is extremely important. Every time I would leave Firefly, whether from a group class, personal session or a massage, I feel like I just float out of the jungle paradise! Everything just feels so good! My only wish is that she lived in Brooklyn, so I could see her on a regular basis."

"The studio itself is absolutely breathtaking. It's off the beach and hidden among the lush trees of the island, making for a very calming ambiance. I'm not much of a yogi, but Lady talked me through every step of the way and I felt very comfortable and relaxed under her guidance. Such a wonderful person to be around, and very welcoming to all. If you're going to be on the island, this is one place you must treat yourself to! "
