Spend a week or two on the healing beaches of Tulum, with the white sand and blue-green waters. Immerse yourself in nature as you step out of your oceanfront eco-chic cabana into the sand. You will practice yoga, sweat, and strengthen with barre class, make a mala necklace, wake up to sunrise meditation, sound healing and fire ceremonies, mandala ritual, and so much more. You will stay at Shambala Petit Hotel based on double occupancy. You can also choose to stay in a private mini cabana at the property.

During this retreat, you can sleep and relax to the sound of the waves, play in the water, meander in the boho boutiques, sway in a hammock, and sit by the fire. You will practice Yin, Vinyasa, and yoga Nidra. You will sweat and strengthen yourself with barre class in the ocean front studio. You will also make a mala necklace, meet new friends, and write in a journal with self-inquiry exercises.

Begin your day by waking up to sunrise meditation. You will take part in sound healing and fire ceremonies. You will also join the mandala ritual.

Vinyasa yoga class

This class is a thoughtful, primal, playful, yet challenging flow balancing both yin and yang, energizing the body, and balancing the mind. The class is also a sweaty, stretchy, joyful practice set to a soundtrack that will get you moving and breathing deeply.

You are encouraged and will feel comfortable meeting your body wherever it is at each time you step onto your mat. While some previous experience with basic poses is helpful, you will have an abundance of loving space to modify and challenge as you choose.

Yin yoga class

Yin yoga focuses on the slow, patient, opening of the fascial layer of the body. The fascia is the connective tissue (shrink wrap) that underlies the skin, wraps the muscles, holds the bones together, and is the conduit for the meridians through which energy flows. Over time, chronic tightness of this layer causes stiffness and inflexibility restricting mobility and energy flow.

Fascia responds differently than muscle and requires this slow approach to facilitate opening. This is a deeply meditative practice. No prior yoga experience required.

Barre

Every barre fitness class is fun and empowering class set to some motivating tracks. Classes begin with a warm-up focusing on postural strength and alignment, followed by a series of upper body exercises using light weights. The ballet barre is used to sculpt the lower body, abs and for flexibility training. Then it is down to the mat for core work and a relaxing and invigorating final stretch.

    Melissa is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher, having completed the 200-hour Vinyasa training at Core Power, 500-hr Sadhana yoga at SchoolYoga Institute Guatemala, Yin yoga training with Jill Carey, 500-hour advanced Vinyasa, Ayurveda, meditation, and Tantric yoga philosophy with Lorin Roche, Coby Kozlowski, Katie Brauer, and Danny Argeutty. She is trained in barre, cycling, personal training, boot camp, and meditation.

This retreat will take place in Tulum, Mexico.
