During the retreat, you will be staying at Los Cardones Ecolodge. It is a stunning off-the-grid retreat center that boasts a no electricity, no internet, and no distractions atmosphere. Los Cardones Ecolodge is disconnected from the modern pace and fully connected to the stars and tides. The Pacific Ocean rumble lulls you to sleep and bird songs welcome each new day. Take this time to turn off your phone, put your email on hold, and fully embrace the beach lifestyle.
There are two options available: beach cabaña and ocean view bungalows.
The beach cabañas are private and situated within 10 yards of the ocean. It is made of bricks and sustainable palm fronds. There is also a spacious terrace with lounge chairs and hammocks, one bedroom, and a bathroom with sink and shower. The room is equipped with electronic safe and solar lights.
The stilted bungalows are private and located right on the ocean. It is made of sustainable precious wood and palm fronds and elevated on stilts on the oceanfront. There is a spacious balcony with lounge chairs and hammocks, one bedroom, and a bathroom with its private toilet, shower, and sink. It provides beach view and is also equipped with electronic safe and solar lights.
This retreat experience is inspired by the subtle rhythms of nature and the wisdom of the elements, as experienced through the living medicine of Ayurveda and the yogic tradition. One of the founding principles of Ayurveda is that you are not separate from nature, you are nature.
This tropical paradise will provide you with countless teachings which you will deeply explore the times of day that are most ideal for practice or activity versus rest or contemplation. You will explore the season and unique ecosystem of the region and how the elements affect your own body, energy levels, and emotional or psychological experience. You will prepare and restore the body from your surf practice and honor the ancient traditions that can lend meaning to your modern world.
You are encouraged to participate in the activities which have already been designed, but you are also encouraged to listen to the rhythms and desires of your individual needs and bodies.
Danielle is a certified 200-hour yoga teacher training with Pacific Elements Yoga under the teachings of Natalie Rousseau Horscroft in the Hatha and Vinyasa traditions. She is also a certified Madhuri method Ayurvedic teacher training and certified Pre and Post Natal yoga teacher training. With playfulness and sincerity, she offers an Ayurvedic and therapeutic approach to deepen your yoga practice with deep respect to the ancient lineages and traditions of yoga. She invites you to come explore on your mat and in the surf.
Paul has been surfing and instructing for over a decade. He received his teaching certificate from the BCASI (British Columbia Association of Surf Instructors) and has taught lessons out of the coastal Canadian towns of Tofino and Ucluelet. He has taught for two years in Nicaragua, and he is a surf guide on Nootka Island, British Columbia, and in San Pancho or Sayulita region of Mexico. Paul’s teaching strategy is patient and personalized. His beliefs remain firm that anyone can surf, and everyone should.
The retreat will take place in Playa San Diego, Nicaragua. Playa San Diego is a quiet and safe fishing village, which is one of the best and closest beaches from the capital of Managua. The beach is blessed with great waves for surfing, including a point break that is probably in the top five best waves in Nicaragua.
During the retreat, you will be served three daily meals, freshly prepared in-house by an experienced staff of local chefs. You can expect a daily continental and a la carte breakfast to suite your practice and surf schedule, special lunch and dinner, as well as a la carte menu options. Purified water will also be provided. Please let Feathers and Fur know if you have any food sensitivities and or allergies.
Enjoy a serenity massage with certified massage therapists. The one-hour full body, deep tissue, or relaxation massage is offered in a private rancho over the dune, adding the benefits of the sea breeze and light to your treatment. Massage for one-hour full body can be booked at 20 USD.
Please book your flight to arrive at Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request at an extra fee. The journey is approximately one hour and a half from Managua.
At Mercado Israel in Managua, take a bus to San Cayetano. Buses run daily from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every 45 minutes during the weekdays and every one hour on the weekends. Stop at California. From California, you may hire a moto taxi or try to hitch a ride 15 kilometers to the beach following the signs.
