From Exotic Yoga Retreat's charming and luxurious retreat resort in the Sacred Valley, you will have plenty of time to hike magnificent valleys, take part in shaman-led ceremonies, explore ancient Incan temples, and spend your time just exploring the sacred Machu Picchu.
For your first four nights, you will be staying at a beautiful retreat center in the Sacred Valley. You will get to wander the grounds, relax in your lush, garden-side room, or enjoy a spa treatment or outdoor bath. You will also have the use of its yoga studio for your yoga classes. Located by the majestic Andes Mountains and within driving distance of the breathtaking Machu Picchu, this retreat is surrounded by natural wonders for you to explore and discover. From hiking mountains to wandering gardens, salt farms, and Incan temples.
Then, for your final three nights, you will stay at a hotel or resort in Aguas Calientes, the gateway town to ancient Machu Picchu where you will spend your days just discovering its wonders with your fellow group members.
Meet your fellow sojourners, Peruvian guide Silverio, and Exotic Yoga Retreat teacher Hillary Wright, for an opening dinner at Exotic Yoga Retreats' favorite restaurant in the heart of Cusco. Following dinner, you will be staying in your own hotel that evening and next morning, Exotic Yoga Retreats will pick you up and take you to the retreat center.
It is strongly recommended that you arrive in Cusco by December 26 or 27, 2017, to rest and acclimate to the altitude. Cusco is a wonderful historic town to wander on your own or meet up and explore with other retreat participants also staying in Cusco.
After breakfast, a van will pick you up at your Cusco hotel and take you to the retreat center in the Sacred Valley which will take about one a half hours. En-route, you will stop to explore the mysterious terraced circles at the Moray archaeological site surrounded by stunning agricultural plains and majestic mountains.
You'll arrive at the retreat center in time for a welcome lunch and an introduction to the lovely Quechua staff who will take care of your needs during your stay. The afternoon is yours to wander the grounds, relax in your lush, garden-side room, or select a spa treatment from the resort's generous menu. You'll convene in the yoga studio at 4:30 p.m. for your opening yoga class, followed by a delicious farm-to-table organic dinner prepared with vegetables, herbs, and spices grown on site.
This day is dedicated to Pachamama, who represents Mother Earth. After a morning yoga practice in the stunning and artistic yoga shala, enjoy a warm and healthy breakfast, followed by a guided tour of the phenomenal Chakra Gardens. You have never seen flowers like this!
You may unwind, enjoy the spa, connect with nature, nourish your body with healthy meals and deep yoga, and stimulate your spirit with re-leaf readings and a transformative fire ceremony led by a shaman healer from the high Andes. The ceremony serves as a wonderful preparation of mind, body, and spirit for your for your immersion into sacred Peruvian culture.
Yoga and breakfast prepare you for a fabulous adventure to the spectacular ruins in P’ísac, the ancient Incan Temple of the Sun located in the heart of the Sacred Valley. Enjoy a moderate hike down the P’isac ruins, stopping for a picnic lunch with the most stunning views of the Sacred Valley below!
Awaiting you at the bottom of the mountain are the famous Písac markets where you can shop for woven goods, jewelry, wall hangings, and hand-painted bead-work. A late afternoon yoga session of restoratives and pranayama prepare you for a special dinner and New Years meditation to mark the closing of this year, and opening of the new year ahead!
What better way to usher in the New Year than waking up in Peru, in the sacred Andes Mountains, in the Chakra Gardens, in the company of fellow yogis, thus beginning your new year in silent meditation, yoga, and the luxury of “being”.
As a sojourner, you were called to the Sacred Valley. Today is a gift of peace dedicated to you. In silence, enjoy the pure energy of the Chakra Gardens. Feel Pachamama’s embrace and allow her to whisper her wisdom to your soul.
At lunch, you will break silence. More active guests may take a two-hour hike climbing the zigzag paths of the ancient Maras Salt Farms or indulge in an Andean spa treatment to pamper body and soul. This day is about deep peace, rejuvenation, and a great celebration of your highest self!
After an early breakfast, you'll catch the morning train (a stunning one and a half hours' ride) to Aguas Calientes, the gateway town to ancient Machu Picchu. After setting down, leave your overnight bag down at the hotel, then you will enjoy a fabulous guided tour of Machu Picchu.
Journey through temples of spiritual power, breath-taking mountains, and connect with one of the most spectacular energy places on Earth! This evening, enjoy a celebratory three-course dinner in a fun and lively restaurant in Aguas Calientes, followed by a well-earned deep sleep!
You are free to experience Machu Picchu exactly as you feel! Hike with the group or on your own to see the most stunning views you will ever see! You may wish to find a hidden terrace and meditate or practice yoga. This is your moment to discover the strong spirit of Machu Picchu! You will take an afternoon train back to your resort in time for dinner.
Your last day is reserved for deep practices of yoga, morning and evening, with down-time to integrate and contemplate. There couldn’t be a more divine setting than the Chakra Gardens for this integration. You might also enjoy a walk into the nearby town of Urubumba to buy local arts, crafts, and pottery (the pottery is very special here). Late afternoon, you convene for your final yoga practice, a beautiful dinner, and a celebratory closing circle.
Farewell sun salutes, breakfast, and departure by bus back to the Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ).
Hillary facilitates teacher-trainings around the world, and has studied many different lineages of yoga, including: Sivananda yoga, when she spent time living in the Amboli Ashram in India; extensive study of Vinyasa toga, as well as hundreds of hours of study of the Ashtanga Vinyasa lineage. Her extensive background studying the Ashtanga Vinyasa system brings a depth to her classes, while her knowledge and understanding of Vinyasa Flow brings a creative twist to the practice.

The price of the package includes daily delicious meals and a pre-retreat welcome dinner in Cusco.
