Program

Flow of the day

Mornings

Each day begins before dawn as you commune with the animals, birds, trees, and plans, on a private jeep safari drive. You will stop halfway for a warm cup of tea or coffee and a guided meditation with Nina, right in the heart of the African wilderness. You will then return to the lodge for a leisurely brunch buffet, which is served under the cool shade of trees. Then there is free time to rest, swim in the pool, spot wildlife nearby, or take a stroll.

Afternoons

After a leisurely siesta, you will convene for the afternoon soulful Vinyasa flow yoga session outdoors. The South African yoga instructor, Nina Butler, helps students of all levels find their personal edge, whilst moving with lightness and grace. You will take afternoon tea, then set out for the evening private jeep safari. You will stop at sunset to engage in an African tradition of toasting the moment when day bleeds into the night.

Evenings

The hours after sunset is for enjoying the profound relaxation that comes from living according to nature’s cycle. You will typically eat together al fresco under the glittering night sky. It is a calm time to share the experiences, insights, and joys of the day. After dinner, your time is your own. Curl up with a book in your spacious suite, run a delightful bath, or stargaze into the African night sky!

Yoga on this retreat

Well-traveled nomad, Nina Butler, weaves breath, strength, flexibility, and awareness into a moving meditation that accommodates beginners and advanced practitioners. While her practice is strong, her teaching is sensitive and heart-oriented, supporting students to move within their personal pace and rhythm. Nina also shares mindfulness practices, meditations, and soul-soothing Yin sessions to cultivate the perfect balance on your retreat between uplifting flow and introspective restoration.

Retreat location

Welgevonden Game Reserve, South Africa

"Welgevonden translates as ‘well-found’ and suits this exclusive and completely malaria-free reserve in the heart of Limpopo Province perfectly. With 37,000 hectares of mountainous terrains, deep valleys and cliffs, grassy plains and flowing rivers, Welgevonden Game Reserve offers a diverse habitat for a wide range of wildlife. As part of the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, it’s home to more than 50 species of mammal and close to 300 bird species."

Northern Tuli Game Reserve, Botswana

At the confluence of two great rivers; the Limpopo and the Shashe, Tuli boasts varied topography and habitats: dominant basalt formations, large sandstone ridges, networks of riverbeds, riverine forests, open grasslands, and marshy areas.
