Aitutaki is one of the 15 tiny islands that make up the magical world of the Cook Islands, scattered over an area of 2.5 million square kilometers of Pacific Ocean. It is situated in the southern hemisphere, west of Tahiti and east of New Zealand, and lies in the same time zone as Hawaii. This volcanic lush green island covering an area of only 18 square kilometers is surrounded by one of the world largest and most beautiful lagoon. The soil is fertile and the lagoon is full of fish.
Life in Aitutaki moves at a wonderful relaxed tempo. Women, with flowers in their hair, are talented dancers. You will fall in love with the friendly Aitutakians and their smiling faces. Aitutaki has many roads crossing the island which provide endless opportunities to explore the remote villages, plantations, and an ancient sacred site called Marae. The roads are very quiet so you can safely walk, bike, scooter, or drive.
Hiking to Maunga Pu, the highest point of the island (124 meters), rewards you with a breathtaking bird’s eye view of the island, the turquoise lagoon, and the many tiny offshore motus that fringe the surf-topped coral reef. This experience is only 500 meters away from Etu Moana and is the best at sunrise. If you are adventurous, you could go hunting in the evening for the land crab and enjoy the feast. When you walk on the beach at night under the Milky Way in the middle of millions of bright stars, you’ll feel very close to universe.
You will be served daily rich tropical breakfast and you can have it on the pool deck. Locally roasted Cook Island coffee and selection of teas in each villa are also available with free of charge.
Aitutaki is an easy 45-minute inter-island flight away from Rarotonga, the capital island of the Cooks. Direct international connections to Rarotonga are available from New Zealand, Australia, United States (Los Angeles), and Tahiti. Coming from Europe, the shortest connection is via Los Angeles direct to Rarotonga or alternatively via Hong Kong or Singapore and Auckland.
"This was our second visit to Aitutaki, however our first stay at Etu Moana and all I can say is wow!"
"Five nights seemed to be a good amount of time to stay, however after staying at Etu Moana we wish we stayed for longer! "
"We were greeted at the airport by Paul and given beautiful flowers. Once we got the the resort, Kirsti greeted us with coconuts and gave us the full tour which was helpful and a great way to start the holiday. "
"Nothing was too difficult for Kirsti, the staff at Etu Moan. They were happy to book us into restaurants for dinners, day tours and give us recommendations for things to do around the island. "
"We stayed in Villa 4 and woke up every morning to the stunning view of the lagoon. The villas are huge, with comfy king beds, a fully-equipped kitchen, large deck with a day bed and even an outdoor shower which we used many times."
"Etu Moana has one of the best beaches on the "ocean side" of the island as it is cleaned of corals every day, making it easy to walk across. "
"The resort is quiet with beautiful gardens and an amazing pool. A real highlight for us was the honesty bar, it was so much fun making an afternoon cocktail and watching the sun go down on the beach. "

"The minute you arrive at this wonderful accommodation, you become aware this is a special place. The relatively new hosts Kirstin and Paul were so helpful and friendly. The accommodation is second to none on the island. Extremely well built and appointed, the villas are amazing. The self serve bar and tropical breakfasts were great quality and much appreciated. Snorkeling and kayaking is brilliant in the lagoon right in front of the villas. Very private and very luxurious. Highly recommend."

"We own a resort on Rarotonga and this was our first time to Aitutaki. We picked Etu Moana because of the TripAdvisor reviews and because of the interaction with Kirsti and Paul during the booking process. They made us feel welcome from the first email exchange. As a resort owner, I must say this place is excellent. We were there for 4 nights / 5 days. Aitutaki is a small South Pacific island with a large, stunningly beautiful lagoon. The island is very quiet so don't expect nightclubs and bars on every corner. Some form of transport is a must, scooter or a car. We went for the scooter which was loads of fun. We went everywhere round the island. When we go back to Aitutaki for another break from running our resort, we will definitely stay here again."

"You won't find a more welcoming, small luxurious tropical villa offering. Stunning views with attention to small details in all the villas with beautiful wood floors and furniture, modern amenities in kitchen, bathroom, ceiling fans, air conditioning, Wi-Fi; extra delight is additional private outdoor shower along with indoor one, poolside full breakfast, self-serve "honesty bar and snacks"; managers and staff are extremely helpful and flexible. A perfect place for low key luxury and island hospitality. If you like more activities during the day, staff helps arrange transport and bookings, or you can use their free bikes and kayaks. "
