Yoga villa

It has a pool immersed in nature offers seclusion, privacy and peace. You deserve no less than this fabulous yoga accommodation! Yoga Villa is set within acres of flourishing vineyards and olive groves. It is charming ensemble of two lovely 19 century old stone houses, fully restored and stylishly furnished respecting the original architectonic structure and the old tradition of the typical Dalmatian house complemented by swimming pool 50m2 with jacuzzi, beautiful terrace under the pine trees with barbecue which is ideal for alfresco dining in the shade.

The rooms show off the traditional-meets-modern look creating warm and inviting atmosphere that feels like home. Tastefully furnished throughout with 100% cotton sheets, towels, hypoallergenic pillows and mosquito netting.

Outdoor areas provide ideal places for lazing by the swimming pool, lounging, reading, journaling, or rejuvenating with a refreshing afternoon nap. You will find bean bags for rolling, hammock for reading under the pine trees, gazebo in the shade by the pool, crystal clear big swimming pool with jacuzzi and inflating pool toys, game room with billiard and movie screen, floor-throw cushions.

You can choose between 3 types of chic rooms: "Chamber of secrets", "Chat Room" and "Stairway to heaven".

Programa

Each day starts with an energizing Vinyasa flow yoga; the evening classes are set at a more relaxed pace. Yoga practices consist of a combination of familiar postures, as well as more challenging poses, with adjustments and variations. You are encouraged to keep listening to the energy of the moment and to keep practicing within the limitations of your own body, with no expectations as to what could (or could not) be achieved before.

Art therapy workshop

You will have the opportunity to learn about the benefits of art therapy. The goal of art therapy session is to access your playful intuition and express yourself artistically (in one of traditional forms of art such as painting, drawing, photography, and writing) under the guidance and supervision of a teacher, who will help you with interpretation and understanding of underlying messages communicated through your art. It may help you with deeper understanding of yourself, resolving issues as well as reducing stress, and improving self-esteem and awareness. You do not need to have any predispositions, just curiosity; you will be surprised how fun is expressing yourself through art.

Free time

On your free time you will have the time and space to do things just for you. Make the most out of it: relax, reflect, and rest by the pool; enjoy the silence, summer breeze, and scent of aromatic herbs from Mediterranean gardens; take a nap in a hammock, book a massage, or enjoy optional group activities discovering the beauty and wonders of Island Vis.

You will be taken on adventure tours, discovering the best of Island Vis. It is a fun and exciting way to experience island of Vis and its extraordinary beauty, authentic lifestyle and local culture. You will go to authentic local villages Vis and Komiza for a delightful wandering around beautiful old stone buildings, line narrow streets and alleyways, bars in the squares and restaurants with fresh seafood menu along the waterfront.

In the inner part of the island you will see citrus orchards, pine and carob trees, rosemary, lavender and many vineyards and olive trees. A days in the sun you will spend at the southern coast dotted with beautiful bays, secluded beaches and extraordinary coves like Srebrna, world famous Stiniva and Stoncica.

Instructores

Valerie Watkinson
Valerie studied Hatha yoga in India, Integral yoga in Cambodia, and founded Blossom-tree-yoga in 2014. Valerie thrives on introducing yoga via workshops and retreats to give people a deeper understanding of the importance of the practice, and how through maintaining a regular practice, self-study, and living from the heart can change your whole attitude and outlook on life, which is a beautiful thing if seen through awakened eyes.
Marieke Kouwenhoven
Marieke a yogini, bodyworker, and passionate traveler has been cultivating her holistic healing services, teachings, and yoga practice for over eight years. She offers classes, retreats, and workshops to help people connect to their authentic selves through yoga, meditation and forms of free movement. With eight-year dedicated practice of yoga, and with a wide variety of styles, and gifted teachers, Marieke now sees yoga as a journey home, reconnecting you to the deepest parts of yourself. Her classes are inspired by the teachings of Anusara, Vinyasa, Restorative yoga, Yin yoga and Ayurveda.
Jenn Russel
Over the past few years Jenns style has evolved to incorporate the flow and playfulness of her dance background, whilst staying true to the traditional teachings of yoga. Her freestyle Vinyasa flow classes take you on a creative journey through traditional and modern postures, linked with creative transitions, uplifting music, some pretty funky balances, and core work.
Tiffany Simoncini
Tiffany is a New York native but has spent the past six years traveling around the world. Her roots are Italian, German, Irish, and Native American while her soul must have been born in India. She has always had a passion for movement. As a young girl, Tiffany studied Tae-kwon-do, various forms of dance, and even played a few different sports. She has always been creative and loves ‘dancing to her own beat.’

Famous from the ancient Greek times, Island Vis in Croatia has an extremely rich history. The remains of a Greek necropolis and Roman thermal, Renaissance palaces and villas, fortresses and towers are on every step. Due to its half century isolation under Yugoslavia the island is not crowded with tourist apartments and hotels. It is the chosen destination for those people who appreciate its authenticity, acknowledged by the World Organization for Environmental Protection as one of the ten most environmentally preserved islands in the Mediterranean. The area of the island covers 90 square kilometers with its interior rich in vegetation, vineyards, and olive trees. There are no poison snakes or spiders on the island, which is full of beautiful vegetation and animal species. The island is full of little paths and roads, and is easily crossable. Whether you decide to take a swim into clear blue sea during the day or dive into the sunset at one of islands numerous bays you will experience unique sensation.

Alimentos

Every day three vegetarian meals inspired by the Mediterranean diet will be provided with tips & tricks how to make your own delicious and healthy food art. At yoga retreat dining you will experience the natural tastes of the Mediterranean tradition. We use fresh seasonal locally grown fruits and vegetables as much as possible, our homemade olive oil and herbs and spices from our garden. Meals will be served at outdoor table nestled under pine trees or in case of bad weather in our house dining area with fireplace. Variety of teas will be available at all times. Please inform us of any food allergies or special dietary requirements you may have when booking. For the full benefits of yoga retreat participants are encouraged not to smoke and drink alcohol excessively

If you want to spend your free time on your own, we suggest some of exciting ways to explore Island Vis and its beautiful surroundings like cycling, sailing, hiking, trekking, kayaking, boat excursions. Feel free to ask your hosts for an advice and a suggestion.

Cycling

If you want to up the exhilaration factor, cycling is a great way to explore the Island while making the most of the fresh air and sunshine. You can enjoy cycling to City of Vis or Komiza or discovering nearby beaches.

Boat excursions

This is the perfect starting point to discover many faces of island Vis. Explore of nearby island Bisevo and world famous Blue Cave, or island Hvar. For real adventurous we offer tours of the desolated military object and labyrinth tunnels which are part of the underground military base spread for miles under the Island Vis

Sailing

It is unique opporunity to dive into history and relate to lifes of anceint traditional fishermen and sailors. In a very attractive presentation of “falkusa”, the ancient wooden fishing boat, you will be invited to experience sailing and rowing, while learning about traditional sailing and fishing techniques, life and habits of people on island Vis in previous centuries, their joys and sorrows, their coexistence with wildlife and nature.

Kayaking

The island of Vis, with its indented coast line, numerous islands and cliffs, hidden bays, sandy beaches and sea caves is one of the most attractive kayaking destinations in the Adriatic. Untouched nature and natural phenomena such as Stiniva bay, the Blue and Green cave will leave no one unimpressed. Discover the islands of Vis with professional guides and find the well hidden beauty.

Hiking & trekking

Because of the well-marked paths and trails all around the island, Vis is particularly appealing to hikers and trekkers . So hit the road, Jack.

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Split Airport (SPU) and make sure that the arrival is by 5:00 p.m. the latest. From Split Airport, you can take shuttle bus (4 EUR) or taxi (much more expensive and not suggested) to Split center (the last bus stop). Split ferry port is just across the street from the bus stop.

At Split ferry port, you will meet our guide at 6:00 p.m. and collect the ferry tickets (which are included in the price). The ferry to Vis departs at 6:30 p.m. When you arrive to Vis, you will be picked up in the port with green land rover to take you to the yoga accommodation.
