500-hour yoga teacher training course overview

The 500-hour of yoga teacher training will take place in two months. This course is highly recommended for all levels of yoga practitioners, as it covers both beginners as well as advanced level. In the first month, the 200-hour program, students will be given a strong yoga foundation.

In the second month, the 300-hour program, students will be guided toward advanced practices of yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation. After completing the 500 hours, students will be fully prepared to share the immortal wisdom of yoga sciences with the world.

Week one includes bhastrika, clavicular, thoracic, and diaphragmatic breathing (yogic breathing), introduction of pranayama, benefits of pranayama, Kapalbhati, and Ujjayi. Week two includes Bhramari, Nadi - Sodhana, Sheetali and Sheetkari, Surya - Bhedi, and Chandra - Bhedi.

Week three includes the practice of mudras, the hand gestures, which is an ancient facet of yoga. Performing gestures effects the energy flow of the body and can change a person's spiritual and mental characteristics. Prerequisites

A high degree of self-motivation is required for all aspects of the course. The practice and especially the teaching of yoga demand a high degree of self-discipline and purity. To ensure the success of the program, participants are required to attend all spiritual activities, meditation sessions, lectures, and asana classes.

Meat, fish, eggs, black tea, coffee, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and nudity are prohibited during the course, as they are counterproductive to the yoga practice. Participants who do not comply with the school rules may be dismissed from the course.

Discipline rules for students

  • Always make discipline, respect teachers, and follow all rules
  • Before departure, return your books, maps or any goods which you had borrowed
  • Clear your books of account before departure from World Peace Yoga School
  • If you are fasting, you have to inform the kitchen manager to avoid food waste

    CONS No me gustó: I didn't like the living conditions of the staff. It is something that really need to change. They should be pay way much better (according to the price we pay to go there) and get rooms with less people and AC.

    PROS Me gustó: The energy of the people you meet in a yoga retreat is absolutely beautiful, I learned a lot from all my classmates and we where constantly charing questions and very nice energy. I changed both physically and mentally, because I got way much more flexible and I started learn how to live in the present and I love it. India is not the cleanest nor organized country but if you have good attitude you will enjoy it a looot. To be honest it all depend on you. It is n entire experience, I absolutely recomend it. Thanks very much for this experience

    CONS No me gustó: When they deliver the rooms, several complain that wasn't bed linen or towels. The quarters are as pictured but no towels or sheets and not so clean. You ask them and they are very nice, but everything is very grimy and frequently used. each one has to buy a toilet paper. When you wash your clothes will take years to dry because there is not where to put clothing and is very uncomfortable to have that look in the Chamber where... with those details resolved the stay would be wonderful..

    An Amazing Experience

    PROS Me gustó: The teachers are very knowledgable and are open to any questions or doubts you may have. The food is always delicious and ready for you to eat and the chef is willing to better fit your needs as he is very kind. The rooms are large with a good working fan and the option to add air conditioning. Staff is always willing to help you and answer questions and provide best experience. The views from common areas is absolutely breath taking and worth seeing. This was an amazing journey and I grew so much as a person.     PROS Me gustó: The teachers are enthusiastic in teaching and demonstrate a yogi lifestyle and mindset themselves. They created a good environment which stimulates an exchange of thoughts between students. learn a lot about myself and life here. Also, they teach much more than the official 200-hr requirement, we learn a lot about Ayurveda (i love that!), yoga therapy (which is in 300-hr), etc.

    Disappointed doesn't begin to describe my experience

    CONS No me gustó: Electricity was constantly out. I can get over that. Didn't have water for day on end. It took a lot to get over it but I did. Slipped and fell on stairs - no railings. After a nasty fall, I mentioned this to the staff, they laughed and blamed the language barrier as a reason for not understanding. Inexcusable. Lack of cleanliness in kitchen got everyone got sick. Inexcusable. Rooms/ bathrooms were filthy. Inexcusable. No organization for Sunday excursion. - expected, its India. I could go on but rather not relive this experience.

    PROS Me gustó: the teachers were the only positive to come out of it

People live here with their basic needs, materialistic pleasures & desires can not be full-filed here.     Magic holiday

    CONS No me gustó: I just had to adjust the first day to walking on Laxman Juhla bridge with scooters, monkeys, cows and people in the rush our. But it's part of the experience and I am missing it now that I had to come back!

    PROS Me gustó: Everything. After adjusting to the chaos in the streets I got the magic of Rishikesh. The power of river Ganga, on the beaches you feel it's sound and it's energy, you understand why it's considered divine. In the evening the mountains sorround Rishikesh as if they were black clouds against the grey sky and the tows echoes all the prayers coming from the ashrams. People are awesome, not attached to money, welcoming and spiritual. Yoga teachers are amazing, very well prepared and able to help you correcting the postures in a very professional way. I'll go back.

    "My yoga teacher training was all in all good. The holder of the place Visnu, didn't seem into anything else but his own talk about cleanliness. Few days it was terribly cold and 2/3 of us got sick. But they didn't put heaters on rooms on Visnu's command, even though reception suggested it, because of money. We were really lucky cause he was away for two weeks of the time that we were there. I wanted to write an honest review about my experience but they didn't let me. They told me I'm an evil person who just wants to harm their school. Cause it was so cold few of the students being sick and disappointed dropped out. Visnu made them feel really bad about themselves and gave ridiculously little money back to them."

    "Our ashtanga teacher Sanjeev was good and made us challenge ourselves. He was there for his first months. Our Hatha teacher Helen was lovely as a person but not really an inspiring yoga teacher. Neither of the teachers really aligned with us, which was a shame. Our yoga therapy teacher was really good and enthusiastic. Our yoga anatomy was touch by our hatha yoga teacher and from those classes I didn't really get anything out of. Yoga philosophy was good. And our pranayama and (in Visnu absense) meditation teacher was something exceptional. Because the presence of this Sanjeev, I hold no hurge to the place. Some things resonated with me and some things really didn't."

    "Have to add to the review that our Ashtanga yoga teacher Sanjeev was really attentive cause my ankle was badly sprained in the last week of being there."

    "But the reception, person who sang us mantras at the beginning and the end plus on kirtan and our pranayama teacher were really good and kind-hearted people, for them I would give more than five stars. I can't remember if I added already that the place changed locations since then, so maybe the temperature next January is tolerable."

    "I really love this experience. The school is serious and know what they're teaching us. Great teachers on theoretical part and on the asana part. My knowledge got organized and definitely increased. I got straight on my body and so I could improve my asanas. Staying in the school for the whole day helped to breath and learn more about mudras, pranayama, poses, cause we were hearing about them the whole day. Some rooms doesn't have balcony, but Its okay. The bed is big. And the shower is hot, even lasting for 10 minutes. We eat 3 times a day, the food is simple, but exactly what a yogi needs. We also have some trip arranged on our day off, witch are very nice. Includes temples and meditation. And we got a manual and some books to help us on our teacher training"

    "I was among the lucky few who had the fantastic opportunity to participate in this August's 200hrs meditation teacher training at World Peace Yoga School. It was a truly transformational experience and my first step in becoming a real yogi. The teachers were incredibly supportive and knowledgeable during this journey and I learned more from them than I could express. They taught us different meditation techniques and gave us the opportunity to teach them ourselves. Daily asana and stretching practices made sure we improved our posture and were able to sit for an extended period of time. Also our philosophy and pranayama classes provided us with a deeper understanding of yogic practices and lifestyle. The staff also took us to exciting places on our days off and made sure we really enjoyed our stay in Rishikesh. I would highly recommend this teacher training to anyone interested in deepening their meditation practice or want to learn how to teach others. The location of the school is very nice, near the Ganga river and surrounded by nice little cafes and shops where you can buy everything you might need for your stay. I had a spacious room with balcony from which I could not only see the river, but also the most stunning sunsets. I will forever be grateful to Vishnu ji who opened my eyes in his magical guided meditations to other levels of consciousness and perceptions and will always be an inspiration as a teacher. I am sure I will come back soon to this very special place!"

The program is whole. Yoga is taught from many angles, its philosophy, anatomy, physical movements, breathing practices, and meditation were all covered. But really even more importantly here that the people in the school, hotel, restaurant here all make being at peace pretty easy. Despite the muscle soreness, there's been lots of smiling! It's important to add that it takes commitment, the days are long and the teacher's all joke, but lots to learn so an open and hardworking mentally are best to come into an intense two week program. I had the opportunity to meet amazing kind souls to share this experience with. The teachers were exceptional. My feelings about the yoga classes is mixed though. Having instruction from trained professionals is vital. In such a short time period, having seven days out of 23 days with student teachers taking the classes, meant we only had 16 days of instruction with a professional. I understand other schools have students run their own class in other time slots rather than taking up the time where the trained teacher instructs. I adored the pranayama class. I learned so much about philosophy and pranayama from this teacher. I love Vishnus classes. He is a very engaging teacher who has a beautiful welcoming energy. The course was extremely beneficial for me. I will take the knowledge I have gained into my future life."

Had answers to our questions and could tolerate us when we were laughing because of being too tired. I learned about the adjustments and will keep on practicing more. He has a clean way of teaching and there was a good flow. Very professional."

    "I feel so lucky to have found Vishnu to be my teacher and mentor. I stayed in his yoga ashram and practiced yoga and meditation while taking the 200-hour yoga teacher training.     "I came to Rishikesh looking for a good yoga teacher training course to improve my practice and teaching skills. As soon as I got here, I visited many schools in Rishikesh and I had gone through many offers but when I met Vishnu in the World Peace Yoga School I stopped my search and immediately I requested him to enroll me in the yoga teacher training program. The rooms they offer was very clean and European standard room and the food was amazing. Yogesh Ji prepared such delicious Ayurvedic and yogic food with different flavors everyday. Ravinder, Rana, and Swami Yogendra are the amazing teachers. My most important part is Yogi Vishnu who taught me the best meditation ever in my yoga life. His presence is enough to go to the deep state of meditation. Now I feel World Peace center is my second home and I will visit Vishnu and his school many times. He is an inspiring and powerful teacher and his classes fill me with joy and the correct attitude and softer for my later meditation."
