Sustainability and comfort are at the forefront of the Himalayan Orchard. The guest house offers modern and stylish en-suite double rooms as well as three-bed rooms with a shared bathroom.
Creating a nurturing space for deep self-care, Thea and Beate will lead you through a carefully considered collection of practices to nurture, inspire, and uplift you, whilst allowing space for self-exploration, meditation, forest walks, wild swimming, rest, and relaxation.
The retreat starts on Tuesday 22 May 2018. Please be in Chandigarh at 11 a.m. on that day for the transfer to the Himalayan Orchard in Rukhla. The travel time from Chandigarh to Rukhla is about six hours, including a lunch break.
You will have a welcome session in the late afternoon and then there will be two yoga classes per day from 23-26 May and 29-31 May. There will be no yoga on 27 May and 28 May to allow for an overnight trip to Sarahan to visit the Bhimakali Temple. Those who do not wish to travel to Sarahan can stay at the Himalayan Orchard and rest.
There will be a final yoga session to close the retreat on the morning of 1 June before departure. Every student will receive a 90-minute massage from Beate. The massage slots will be allocated on the first day of the retreat.
The morning yoga session at 8 a.m. will be around two hours, including meditation, and will be followed by a delicious vegetarian brunch (fruits, biscuits and tea are available before 8 a.m.). The morning class will be the more vigorous and dynamic practice. A creative, playful and explorative ‘deep slow flow’ asana practice emphasizing the breath, mindfulness and skillful appropriate action that will - by using and building up through a range of appropriate options - allow students, from the less experienced to the more advanced, to discover how to find and work peacefully at the level appropriate to them.
The afternoon session starts at 5:30 p.m. and will be a soothing and nurturing 90-minute Yin and Restore yoga practice. One afternoon instead of yoga, you will have a self-care workshop led by Beate (on 30 May). A delicious vegetarian evening meal will be served at 7:30 p.m. The rest of the time will be free to do as you please - going on forest hikes, visits to local temples, reading in the orchard, watching birds, etc.
If time allows consider taking an extra few days on either side of the retreat to help you acclimatize, get over jet lag and enjoy spending more time in the stunning Himalayas.
There will be guided afternoon hikes included on this retreat.
The home for the retreat, the Himalayan Orchard, lies in the foothills of the Himalayas, surrounded by thousands of acres of uninterrupted forest, near the small village of Rukhla.
The food served is 90% organic, home grown or locally sourced, and 100% seasonal and home cooked.
Please book your flight to arrive at Chandigarh International Airport (IXC). Transfer from and to the airport is included. TheaYoga will pick you up from the airport.
